Chapter 1034: Chapter 149: Water Curtain Showdown (Part 3)
"Stand your ground! Face the enemy!" Marshal Oerstein’s roar was like thunder!
The ground beneath the Hesse soldiers vanished, transforming into cold, undulating lake water in an instant! The enormous psychological impact and the sudden buoyancy beneath their feet caused many soldiers to stagger. However, their steely discipline and the subtle "sense of footing" provided by the Water Repelling Pearl allowed them to swiftly adapt!
The Dwarf Warriors roared, viciously "planting" the bottoms of their massive tower shields into the relatively calm water surface. Their astonishing weight and the design of the tower shields, along with the power of the Water Repelling Pearl, made them like reefs rooted to the water bed. The shield wall instantly reformed on the water surface. Long-handled war axes and war hammers poked out from the gaps between the shields, the cold lake water only reaching to their calves.
The well-trained warhorses, under the knights’ control, vigorously paddled their four hooves. Surprisingly, the Water Repelling Pearl’s power seemed to provide some "support" beneath the horses’ hooves, preventing the knights from sinking! Although they couldn’t charge as they would on dry land, they quickly adjusted, forming tight defensive circles or wedge formations on the water surface, spears pointing like a forest toward the enemy. Gilded plate armor reflecting the turbid walls of water tumbling on either side and the dark sky overhead, each lift and fall of a hoof splashing large swathes of water.
The Ogre Mercenaries, all colossal creatures, instead showcased amazing stability on the turbulent water surface thanks to their weight and power. The water only reached their ankles as they roared in excitement, wielding gigantic weapons in the water, raising large waves. The metal chassis and wide wheels/tracks of the "Wheat Field Death God" and "Iron Thorns" provided buoyancy, and with the assistance of the Water Repelling Pearl, they did not sink. The Half-Elf technicians screamed as they controlled these steel giants moving slowly across the water, rotating scythe blades slicing through air and water, emitting deadly whistles. They became moving fortresses on the water.
Lastly, the Crossbowmen, Firearms Soldiers, and Artillery positions were arranged in relatively rearward positions, protected by Heavy Infantry. The soldiers, standing in knee-deep or waist-deep water, struggled to stabilize their bodies, aiming their weapons forward. Dwarf Engineers even quickly raised some components of the siege equipment, setting up crossbow cannons on the water!
The battlefield was now a breathtaking, fantastical spectacle. On both sides were towering, tens-of-meters-high, constantly roaring and surging, murky and dark world-ending water walls, like two moving, destructive waterfall cliffs, isolating the outside world and bringing immense psychological pressure. Twisted human faces within the water walls wailed silently, as cold death qi permeated the air.
In the center was a "water corridor," several kilometers wide, carved out by the power of the Water Repelling Pearl. The water surface was undulating, wave sprays surged, yet lacked any destructive force. Beneath the deep green lake water, glimpses of the flooded plains and debris could be seen.
Within this tumultuous water corridor were nearly seven thousand elite Hesse soldiers clad in heavy armor, marching as if treading on waves, forming a tight steel battle formation! The cold lake water slapped against their armor and shields, splashing countless drops, flashing with cold light under the dim illumination. Knights’ warhorses rode the waves, infantry stabilized their formations in knee-deep water, ogres moved like living reefs, and Half-Elf war machines resembled steel islands on the water.
Before them, the Ancient Heroic Spirit Knight Order charged silently! Bronze armor flowed with muddy water, the eerie blue soul fire seeming even more sinister against the backdrop of the water walls. The heavy skeleton horses stomped on the water surface, splattering viscous, iron-gray water drops. They ignored the water’s resistance, their speed unabated!
And above the battlefield at the highest point, Aeliria hovered in the air, the Dragon Claw gripping the Water Repelling Pearl emitting a stable emerald glow, like a Sea-Stabilizing Needle, maintaining this miracle battlefield of splitting waves. Su Li stood upon the dragon saddle, the Phoenix Wing Talisman beginning to shine, ready to summon a storm.
"Hesse Territory!" Marshal Oerstein’s voice pierced through the roaring waves, "Hold the line! Show these ancient dead the power of steel and fire! For glory!!!"
"For glory!!!" The earth-shattering battle cry exploded over the tumultuous lake surface, carrying with it the determination to crush all obstacles, charging towards the silent charge of the death tide! The final battle erupted fiercely on this turbulent water surface opened by the Holy Artifact, thus caught between world-ending waves!!
The hooves thundered dully, no longer stepping on land, but stomping upon solidified death water and surging lake waves, producing a sticky and cold "splash—boom" sound. The charge of the Ancient Heroic Spirit Knight Order had no cries, no shouts of war, only a sweeping, suffocating deathly silence, and the cold killing intent of countless points of ghostly blue soul fire burning against the backdrop of murky water walls. They were like a bronze torrent from the Nether River against the flow, laden with the stench of lakebed silt and accumulated resentment for millennia, crashing harshly against the Hesse Legion just beginning to steady its footing on the water surface!
"Hold—!" The roar of the Dwarf Long-bearded Warriors was drowned in the deafening sound of impact.
Boom!
The Dwarf Heavy Shield phalanx at the forefront bore the brunt, as the bronze skeleton horses, with force equaling a thousand pounds, struck the Rune Tower Shield. The tremendous impact made the front-row Dwarf Warriors shudder, their feet plowing through the surging waves, sliding back, while the sturdy tower shield groaned under the unbearable strain, the runes engraved on its surface erupting into dazzling brilliance, fiercely colliding and annihilating against the ghostly blue soul fire flowing over the bronze armor.
