Chapter 1414: Chapter 459: The Price
If we’re to say what is good about New America in comparison to the other America, it is undoubtedly that New America was shattered by Europe once.
Their country once had a national fortune exaggerated to the point of breaking others’ defenses.
Why do Americans believe in the so-called manifest destiny, and why are they uniquely obsessed with Catholicism and Christianity even in the whole Euro-American sphere?
An undeveloped virgin land, a continent with absurdly rich biological and mineral resources, where the native inhabitants were backward and ignorant; the colonizers drove the indigenous people to extinction with little effort, incorporating the promised land (self-professed) bestowed by God entirely into their hands.
During the American war of independence, their army was beaten to a pulp by the British, but with blood-selling-level robust assistance from the French founding fathers, they managed to defeat the British and achieve independence.
They avoided major battlefields in both world wars, while everyone was pleading for them to sell supplies; on this continent of celestial independence, they watched other major nations batter their heads bloody, millions dying, rivers of blood in the literal sense.
Yet the biggest loss for Americans was nothing but the Pearl Harbor incident alone.
After the war, they entered a period of rapid economic prosperity, becoming the leader of the capitalist world, completely replacing the British status.
Moreover, scientists from all over the world scrambled to immigrate here with their technology, in numbers that were as abundant as dumplings from heaven.
In all of history, one cannot find another country more fortunate in development than America, riding on lucky winds all the way to the top of the world.
Some mocked Americans thinking products grew from store shelves, that even in post-apocalyptic works they could get supplies from stores and gas stations.
That’s because they’ve indeed had several internal crises in America, with many deaths, but until the epidemic, none were caused by lack of goods; their stores were always filled with products, you just couldn’t afford them.
When everything comes so easy and is so taken for granted, how could Americans not believe in Jesus?
How could they not believe they are the city on a hill?
How could they not believe their nation is blessed by God?
Our advanced technology just fell from the sky.
Add to that the Whig historical perspective brought by the British, where everything the victor does is correct, even if they wet the bed as a child, they’d compile that into a book, explaining how they did it and which posture they used, asking others to follow suit.
Americans growing up in this environment can’t understand human language; whatever Lin Miao says they’ll treat as nonsense.
Therefore, it’s good that the America in this world exploded, waking up those sugar-coated Americans with a blunt blow.
Logically speaking, no matter how America explodes given its size and economic level, it shouldn’t fall to Vietnam and Mexico’s level.
But as an immigrant country without its own national narrative, losing the city on the hill title means losing the inexhaustible immigrant tide; subsequently, financial capital flees, social security rapidly deteriorates, internal splits occur, everything culminates into an avalanche.
That nation, which was supposed to disintegrate in an icy wasteland with its people starving and freezing, finally turned from Russia into the United States.
Then Americans suffered for sixty years, endured sixty years of hardships, their American Dream shattered into pieces.
All those parties, Democratic, Republican, Green Party vanished into thin air.
The peculiar inferiority complex towards other ethnicities that Lord Dong uniquely had twenty years ago is now particularly apparent among modern Americans.
Even within the global white system, the status of American whites ranks even lower than the Slavic Lady; at least the Soviet Union could mingle with the European Community, while New America has nothing.
Thus, with clear eyes, they are finally willing to sit obediently here, listening to Lin Miao, an Asian talk.
So, it seems like everyone has gotten what they wanted.
Veterans and homeless people can receive aid funds and find jobs.
Workers’ communities can get security maintenance from veterans, as well as security assurances for future industrial zones.
Walt’s represented company’s defeated struggle can find a place under Lin Miao again.
Everything seems wonderful, like a dumpling-filled happy ending.
But if anyone tells you there is a guaranteed, no-loss business in this world, they must be hiding some critical information from you, at best asking for money, at worst demanding lives.
Let’s not forget, this meeting is public, and all Detroit can see it.
Besides workers, homeless, and unemployed people, there are also local gangs and corporate dogs.
Will gangs allow workers to escape their control?
Will corporate dogs allow the defeated to get back on their feet and even threaten themselves?
Moreover, although Lin Miao enthusiastically promotes the recycling industry, not everyone will believe it, especially top capital that has achieved partial monopoly, who can earn sitting down; why should they jump in to explore new markets?
Even within the New United States Government, opinions might not be unified.
No revolution without blood; no struggle without death.
The world is not a tender cradle, but a cruel and bloody killing field.
Watching the workers and homeless leave expectantly, Pan’an beside Lin Miao, who had been busy for an afternoon, was almost too tired to straighten up.
