Chapter 1532: Chapter 499: I Want to Be a Rotten Underwear! (Part 2)

End of the world?

Ruzuo remained unmoved, like, if the whole world’s nuclear bombs were detonated, so what?

They still couldn’t destroy all of humanity.

At worst, the game type shifts from cyberpunk to wasteland punk, makes no difference to us.

And honestly, building a cairn in wasteland punk is way cooler than what we have now.

He stepped out from behind Brother Ni, looking at Murphy with some indifference.

"Are you done talking?"

"?"

"Why don’t you just say what you want, and stop with all the riddles about ’this land’~’this land’~going on and on like an idiot. We’re in a hurry, if you can skip the cutscenes, let’s get it on. I hate you bosses who blabber on endlessly, just get to the point OJBK?"

Ruzuo is the typical player who enjoys a good fight, and when New Dynasty Elegance said this woman was lying, he lost all interest in continuing his conversation with Murphy.

"....."

Previously heard from other AIs that the Horizon Mercenaries were unique, and seeing them today proved extraordinary indeed, even Murphy hesitated for a moment before reacting.

"Hehe."

She chuckled softly, her face obscured by the angle, making her laughter seem eerie and sinister.

Murphy’s transformation exceeded imagination; once just a teenager obsessed with online life, everything changed after Bartmos died.

"She wants to kill everyone in the world, send them into cyberspace to become a legion of immortal electronic phantoms."

From the shadows behind, Li De emerged, holding a gun, with Kles following him.

Brother Ni was a bit surprised, too absorbed in talking with Murphy that he forgot to check the mini-map.

"How did you get up here?"

Kles eyed the red-haired woman warily.

"The third basement level is the power hub. There’s a dedicated elevator straight to the seventh floor, a massive computing center. We found something interesting inside."

Li De also looked at Murphy and said,

"All those things were placed in plain sight, didn’t even need to hack the database to find them, you showed them to us on purpose."

Murphy turned to the crowd and asked,

"Isn’t cyberspace good?"

Anyone who’s been to cyberspace finds it hard to argue that it’s bad.

Souls unbound by gravity can freely use data codes to build whatever they desire, houses, ships, landscapes, even entire worlds.

Madness lingered in Murphy’s eyes.

"No hunger there, no sickness, once we breach the company’s firewalls, we can reunite the entire old net, and everyone can live in Heaven!"

"But not everyone has the talent to enter cyberspace; most people in this world are just ordinary folks."

Li De looked seriously at Murphy, knowing his gun posed no threat to the AI, but that didn’t mean he’d lower his weapon.

"People live on this land, maybe not rich, but they get by, watching kids run past the storefront growing up day by day, that’s their reason to endure...."

"I’ve never been to cyberspace, never seen it with my own eyes, only heard a bit from Song’s descriptions, but I feel.... people are meant to live in reality."

"You have no right to define what reality is."

Murphy stated,

"Cyberspace is another world that truly exists, it’s part of reality, a higher dimension than the physical world; entering cyberspace isn’t escaping reality, it’s another evolution of humanity."

Li De was unmoved.

"If it’s as wonderful as you say, then why do you work so hard to come to reality?"

"You’re Spider Murphy, right?"

Brother Ni interrupted,

"I’ve heard about you, when Bartmos passed, I bet it affected you deeply, but people have to face reality, spending all day in internet cafes...."

"Enough!"

Murphy, who had been speaking civilly, instantly flew into a rage at Brother Ni’s words, while Ruzuo held his face in disbelief.

"If you can’t comfort people, just shut up, I told you to say less."

"You don’t understand a thing!"

Murphy hissed through gritted teeth,

"Living in this world is just struggling in pain, the body is a prison and chain for the soul, only the new world offers true release...."

"I told you...."

The muttering of New Dynasty Elegance in the channel,

"Techno-Gnosticism surely had a root cause, turns out you guys are it all along."

So Murphy didn’t technically lie to those people below, they did intend to put people into cyberspace for immortality, but certainly not including those cultists and involved politicians.

They’re merely channels for the AI to obtain resources, once their purpose ends, they’ve got to go.

Even the AI cannot stand them.

The real problem is... how do these AIs solve the entire world’s human issues simultaneously?

But Murphy evidently had no intention of explaining this to the players, she whipped her head around furiously, glaring at Brother Ni and Ruzuo,

"Since you won’t talk, I’ll ask myself."

She then morphed into a torrent rushing at the two, its data formation nearly identical to a red spider with eight legs.

"Damn! This is your fault!"

The previously bold and brave Ruzuo, seeing the ghostly Murphy, hastily screamed and waved to resist, but data entities are intangible, rendering his resistance futile, so Ruzuo grabbed Brother Ni to shield himself.
