Chapter 104: The Animalistic Nature of That Black Wild Beast
The Sacrificial Stone Forest was also the place Silver King Lycan called the Tears of the Moon.
Perhaps this place had once been a massive boulder, eroded by time into its current appearance of a stone forest.
By the time Blaze and the Village Chief arrived at the Moon God Altar, people were already there—acquaintances, in fact.
It was the six-member Vice Alien group. One look at their expressions was enough to tell the outcome of their challenge.
The Ripper sat in a corner, utterly crestfallen, his eyes staring blankly into the void. Without a doubt, the Ripper had failed.
The Cannibal was warming up, clearly the next challenger.
After greeting Blaze, Greenland whispered, "This guy had a major surgery in our world. He ended up a bit delirious during his challenge just now, and as a result..."
Losing probably wasn’t the main reason the Ripper had taken such a hard hit. What really made him shut down so completely was that right now, he was the only one who hadn’t passed. And the Ripper would have to wait until tomorrow to wash away this humiliation.
"So, was there any Transformation after you passed the trial?" Blaze asked, lowering his voice to avoid triggering the Ripper.
Greenland furrowed her brows—a rare sight. The others also couldn’t come up with an answer right away. Their unified answer was that they had received the prompt: [Your soul has become noble]. To be honest, they were quite disappointed.
Challenging high difficulties certainly gave a great sense of accomplishment, but how to put it... they also wanted something tangible. Anything would do, just give them something.
"Became noble... Just as I thought."
Blaze paraphrased the chicken’s words and relayed them to the group of six.
"So that’s how it is!" Greenland’s eyes lit up.
"In that case, for the [Silver Werewolf] Profession, the Secret Medicine serves as the Experience Value for leveling up, while challenging the Moon God Altar is the method for Professional Advancement. This is undoubtedly the way to obtain a Special Profession!"
"Putting it that way, [Your soul has become noble] is some kind of status that can trigger special dialogue!"
"Then this difficulty is quite high," the Scary Clown said, stroking his chin. "It’s not about relying on luck to win once, but relying on your own strength to win many times."
"That’s great, Jack. You haven’t fallen too far behind in progress."
Jack was the Ripper’s name. The Scary Clown’s remark sounded less like comfort and more like rubbing salt in the wound. But for some reason, Jack the Ripper didn’t react at all. Upon stepping closer, they realized that Jack the Ripper had fallen asleep with his eyes wide open, maintaining a completely blank expression.
"This state is pretty bad, right? If he doesn’t log off to sleep, he could get PKed at random."
"It’s fine, it’s fine. After the previous version update, if the system detects a user has fallen asleep, getting killed won’t cause them to drop items. They’ll also be teleported back to base."
The Electric Saw Demon pulled out a giant axe and, with a loud THWACK, cleaved the Ripper in two.
"Um, don’t Vice Aliens only undergo resurrection in a Monster’s lair?" Blaze reminded them, albeit a little too late.
"Oh, no worries, no worries. We’ve successfully formed a guild. Right about now, he should be lying in a comfortable bed inside the guild."
"That’s amazing!"
Establishing a guild was quite a difficult feat. The most basic requirement was owning land. Generally speaking, one could only purchase a land deed from a Lord or the King, or defeat a powerful Monster to occupy its lair.
[Fairy Kingdom] had defeated an extremely powerful Monster, occupied the castle where the Monster resided, and established their guild.
For Vice Aliens, both methods were quite hard to achieve. The former wouldn’t lease land to Vice Aliens, while the latter—Monster lairs that could be occupied and turned into a guild—were far too rare. The ones that could be moved into directly were even rarer.
But now, the Vice Aliens had successfully become some of the founding contributors to Arcadia’s new history.
A land deed? Here, take your pick.
No money for renovations? The Advanced partner of [Hermes’ Travel Hat] personally sponsored them, gifting luxurious furniture for free. It was said that if a Foreigner slept on a good bed in this world, it would improve their sleep quality in the other world.
It was just that...
"Arcadia, oh, Arcadia. We have no way of leaving this place anymore."
"Lord Hermes, ah, my Lord Hermes!"
"Hehehe, we can take out loans to buy things as we please. We can buy whatever we want."
Greenland, the Scary Clown, and the Cannibal wore eerie, idiotic smiles as if they had been brainwashed, muttering things like, [We will serve Arcadia for the rest of our lives].
Having grown accustomed to hard times, truly just a little bit of warmth was enough to... make them never want to return to those bitter days of the past.
"Um, actually, I’ve been wanting to ask since the very beginning." Blaze pointed at a little girl wearing a hood, even more petite than Herbie.
"Why did the muscular Miss Claire turn into this?"
He had been curious about it for a long time, but because Claire seemed so depressed, he had held it in. Now, he really couldn’t hold back anymore.
"It’s because of the special requirements of the [Evil God Writer], an inversion Profession that allows for advancement. You have to pay a price and offer a tribute to advance," Greenland answered on Claire’s behalf.
"This Special Profession has multiple advancement branches. Every branch is extremely in poor taste yet fits the lore, making you pay a price after advancing. For the advanced Profession Claire chose, the required tribute was [Her current appearance], and the price paid was [A new appearance completely different from the original, possessing a huge discrepancy]."
"This..." The corner of Blaze’s eye twitched. The Profession on Claire’s body had indeed changed.
[Evil God Writer] had disappeared, replaced by [Faceless].
[Faceless Level 1]
[Offer your face, skin, muscles, bones, and blood to that sometimes great, sometimes lowly existence, saving only your voice to convey Its will, allowing your vessel to become one of Its thousand avatars. As a reward, as torture, and as a mockery, It has bestowed upon you the appearance among Its thousand avatars that is the exact opposite of your own.]
"Indeed very Evil God-like. This is too evil, to actually treat one’s own believer this way."
"Hehehe, that’s not necessarily true." Greenland smugly pulled back Claire’s hood, revealing her delicate and adorable face. "Let me tell you, this cute appearance is actually much closer to Claire’s true appearance!"
"In other words, you turned into that other form in order to deceive the Evil God?!" Blaze uncontrollably switched to honorifics.
What a terrifying scheme, using an Evil God-like face to fool the Evil God.
"No, I just liked that look. I customized it that way because it looked strong," Claire spoke slowly, her ethereal voice laced with gloominess.
"What does it matter? This look is so cute! Let big sis hug you, kiss you, and lick you more—it’s not a crime here anyway!"
Greenland hugged and kissed Claire repeatedly. Claire immediately began to struggle, but unfortunately, her current petite build was completely unable to escape Greenland’s embrace. Looking at it this way, she had indeed become much weaker.
"Fortunately, the Silver Blood was obtained afterward; the price of the [Faceless] would have replaced all her blood. However, considering how evil this Profession is, there might be abnormalities after Transformation."
"Yeah," Claire nodded with difficulty. "After Transformation, there’s a ZAP ZAP sensation, and I lose a tiny amount of health."
"By the way, Blaze, you’re looking to challenge the Silver Altar, right?" Seeing Greenland engrossed in fawning over the loli, the Cannibal took over the conversation.
"That’s right."
"Then let’s go together?" the Cannibal offered.
"We can challenge it together?"
"No, the Moon God Altar seems to be a kind of Alternate Space. Those who enter will be sent to their respective challenge spaces."
"Alright, let’s go together then."
Blaze didn’t refuse, stepping onto the Silver Altar alongside the Cannibal.
The instant Blaze’s foot stepped onto the moss-covered stone bricks, the space turned pitch black. The dead tree in the middle of the Silver Altar blossomed, and pure white flowers became the sole light source in the entire space.
Beneath that massive tree blossoming with nameless flowers, a pitch-black Shadow slowly took shape.
A single flower petal drifted down without warning. The pitch-black Shadow let out a deafening roar at Blaze. Large swaths of petals were blown into the sky by the sheer force of the shout.
A howling tempest formed from the petals rushed forward, looking breathtakingly beautiful.
But beneath that beauty, the deadly dark Shadow approached Silently. A Giant Sword cleaved through the sea of flowers, aiming straight for Blaze’s neck.
CLANG—
The two Giant Swords clashed together. Sparks flew in all directions, illuminating the two figures. They were two Wild Beasts clad in black Armor.
One’s eyes were as pure as gold.
The other’s eyes were filled with hatred.
