Chương 334: The Mad God of Wine

  • Next Chapter

Once, in the Tenkai, there existed an incredibly insane god of wine. Like Loki, he enjoyed killing gods for fun.

But unlike Loki, whose mischief simply crossed the line, this god's nature was far more… perverse.

Loki delighted in pranks, seeing even god-slaughter as a form of entertainment.

Dionysus, however…

He simply enjoyed watching others suffer endlessly, savoring the despair that would flash across their faces.

That fleeting moment of torment alone was enough to send him into ecstatic euphoria.

Strictly speaking… this was millennia ago.

Back then, the gods had not descended to the mortal realm. Countless disasters spewed forth from the great dungeon—a massive chasm in the world—sweeping across the entire continent.

The age was known as the Age of Heroes in antiquity.

But it was also a dark age.

A cruel era that left countless intelligent beings remembering only blood and tears.

Dionysus loved that era.

He particularly enjoyed peering from the heavens at the tragedies unfolding below.

Outwardly, he would say: The "heroes" of that age were true outliers—the "unknowns"—unlike the current fake champions. They truly surpassed their limits through their own abilities and deserved respect.

But inwardly, his thoughts were far simpler:

The cruel era is over. The mortal world is no longer harsh. The children no longer suffer. How am I supposed to "watch the show"? How do I enjoy my "Feast of Madness"?

Thus, Dionysus deeply hated Ouranos, the one who had founded the labyrinthine cities.

He constantly cursed that old bastard, who continually offered divine prayers to the dungeon.

Over ten years ago, with the decline of the Zeus and Hera familias, Dionysus felt his opportunity had come.

Years later, he discovered the existence of the Demi Spirit.

This discovery inflated his confidence beyond measure.

Without hesitation, he began transforming the children within his familia, creating a special group of "monsters."

At first, his experience was insufficient. Without access to omnipotent divine power, many children could not survive the brutal experiments. They either exploded outright or slowly descended into madness.

Until the appearance of the Banshee.

She, too, should have broken under the pressure.

Yet, with the awakening of the clone magic Einsel, the elf girl Filvis Challia survived.

She became the most useful piece in Dionysus' hands.

This mad god believed that the only thing he lacked now was time.

But suddenly, an unexpected twist appeared.

The threat brought by Antares made Dionysus—who had been observing the battle from afar, watching the Babel collapse—almost laugh out loud.

He didn't care that the ancient monsters had beaten him to a plan he had meticulously set for years.

He wanted only his Feast of Madness.

However…

The Twin Stars emerged.

That night, when the two combined to summon (allegedly) the Strongest Valkyrie – Durandal, Dionysus' glee was wasted.

And afterward, he grew worried.

"With such anomalies in existence, my plan can never succeed."

All prior arrangements were discarded. He needed a new, more perfect plan.

Finally, not long ago, he conceived a strategy with an infinitesimal chance of success.

"Even the so-called 'Heroes" are only one person."

"If I trigger multiple disasters across several locations after full preparation… how will they cope?"

With this thought, Dionysus began increasing the number of Demi Spirit clone embryos.

He felt success was near.

Yet, fate was unpredictable…

The stronghold of the Evilus was discovered by one of the Twin Stars.

When he learned of this, as other fools contemplated resistance… Dionysus—the one who despised the so-called savior heroes—saw the situation most clearly.

He fled.

And he understood profoundly… this would be his last chance.

Truthfully, he wasn't worried about being sent back to the Tenkai.

As long as the mortal realm returned to chaos, he could continue to watch his grotesque spectacle from the heavens.

This was his true purpose.

"I've heard that Ottar, at Lv.7, cannot beat a floor lord with latent Lv.7 potential."

"Who told you to flaunt your muscles and reveal critical secrets to the outside world?"

"Then…"

"What if Balor—the super-enhanced species—is parasitized by a Demi Spirit clone embryo?"

With this logic, Dionysus ordered the Banshee to lead him into the dungeon.

Sure, a floor lord couldn't be easily parasitized.

But Dionysus didn't care.

He simply suppressed the floor lord with his divinity.

And with his continual divinity release, the dungeon's rampaging state would worsen.

Ouranos might immediately notice that his divine prayers were useless.

Yet even that old god, bound by rules, could not perceive the dungeon's interior.

Thus…

"Go wild, dungeon."

"You too, feel wronged, resenting us gods who break our promises, don't you?"

"Then do your best. Hatch more floor lords…"

"I have plenty of embryos here~"

With the ongoing release and suppression of divinity, Dionysus executed his most insane plan yet.

The result…

The Freya familia members, who had just arrived on the 49th floor, saw it clearly in the drastically transformed Moytura:

Seven towering black monsters.

Each bore twin horns.

But their eyes were grotesque—one large, one small, positioned asymmetrically.

The upper eye was massive, its armored eyelid tightly closed.

The lower eye glowed red, scanning the surroundings.

Even stranger…

"Ohhh~"

From each monster's head extended a half-human torso.

They resembled beautiful human women, but with the same pitch-black skin as the monsters, like freshly charred coal, emanating a sinister aura.

At this moment…

"Seven super-enhanced species with at least Lv.8 latent potential, all floor lords, and all Demi Spirit hybrids?"

"Where is Dionysus… hmm?"

Lumine's thoughts paused, only to realize that the others around her were completely immobilized.

Yes, this was the suppression of Dionysus' divinity.

Now, with Dionysus unrestrainedly releasing his divinity, the dungeon continued to spiral into chaos.

At the same time, this divinity drastically limited the movement of native mortal beings.

But…

None of this affected the Twin Stars.
