Pokemon : I'm Just a Photographer!
Chapter 250
Chapter 250: Chapter 250
Mike originally intended to continue filming, but before he could start the next part of his work, his stomach reminded him that he’d been ignoring something important.
Food.
Mike paused and checked the time.
It was already two in the afternoon.
"Oh, wow. It’s gotten that late already?"
He sighed and rubbed his stomach.
"No wonder I’m starving. I got so caught up in everything that I completely forgot about lunch."
He looked toward the Jynx again.
"By the way, do you have somewhere you live? If you don’t mind, could you take us there for a little while? I’ll make you all something delicious to eat as a thank-you!"
The Jynx immediately brightened at the offer.
One of them hurried forward, grabbed Mike by the hand, and began pulling him uphill.
"Whoa! Hey, hang on!"
Mike found himself stumbling forward before he could properly regain his balance.
With his camera in one hand and the Jynx pulling his other arm, he had little choice but to start running.
"Slow down! Slow down! There’s no need to rush!"
Unfortunately, the Jynx was far too excited to listen.
She continued dragging him through the snow, seemingly determined to get him to their home as quickly as possible.
Snivy and the others hurried after them.
By the time they finally reached a cave farther up the canyon, Mike was thoroughly exhausted.
The Jynx released his hand.
Mike immediately bent over, bracing both hands against his knees as he struggled to catch his breath.
"Hah... Hah..."
’Running through deep snow is WAY too exhausting!’
He’d already used up a considerable amount of energy during the morning’s exploration and dancing.
That little sprint had finished off whatever stamina he’d had left.
The Jynx, meanwhile, seemed perfectly fine.
"Jynx!"
[Welcome to our home!]
She raised her voice and called out toward the interior of the cave.
Her cry echoed through the surrounding canyon.
A moment later, several pairs of bright eyes appeared in the darkness deeper inside.
Then a group of small, adorable Smoochum came toddling out.
They were tiny Pokémon with features that resembled young girls, sharing several similarities with their evolved forms.
Like Jynx, they had blonde hair, large eyes, and prominent lips.
Their skin, however, was pink rather than purple, giving them an even softer, more childlike appearance.
At first, the Smoochum remained partially hidden behind the blocks of ice scattered around the cave, peeking cautiously at the unfamiliar human standing near the entrance.
When the Jynx called to them again, however, their hesitation gradually disappeared.
One by one, they emerged from their hiding places and gathered around Mike.
Soon, he found himself surrounded by curious little Pokémon.
The Smoochum examined him from every angle, apparently fascinated by this strange visitor.
Some of them even leaned forward and pressed their lips against his feet.
When they encountered the fabric of his clothes rather than anything familiar, they pulled back in confusion and studied him from a short distance.
The livestream viewers were delighted.
[Akabara: Wait, why do Jynx and Smoochum like Mike so much?!]
[Mat_tokki: Oh, look who’s back! Akabara, did your timeout finally end? HAHAHA!]
Mike glanced at the comment before crouching down and gently picking up one of the Smoochum.
The little Pokémon looked at him curiously as he held her in his arms.
"Smoochum are naturally very curious Pokémon," he explained while carefully checking her physical condition.
"Whenever they encounter something unfamiliar, they usually want to investigate it right away."
He adjusted his hold on the Smoochum, making sure she was comfortable.
"And here’s something interesting. A large portion of a Smoochum’s sensory nerves are concentrated in its lips. That’s why, when they’re examining something new, they tend to use their lips rather than their hands."
Mike smiled at the little Pokémon.
"So when a Smoochum starts pressing its lips against something, it isn’t necessarily trying to kiss it. It’s usually just figuring out what that object is!"
The viewers immediately understood why the Smoochum had been behaving so strangely.
[Tomodachi_UwU: OHHH! So that’s why! Master, you’ve opened my eyes!]
[NewTrainerHere: Wow, Mike really knows his stuff! I’m definitely following this channel!]
With the Jynx and Smoochum enthusiastically welcoming them, Mike finally entered the cave.
The moment he stepped inside, he stopped to admire the surroundings.
Almost everything was made of ice.
The walls, the floor, and much of the cave’s interior were covered in beautiful, crystal-clear blue ice that gleamed under the available light.
The entire place had an almost unreal appearance.
For a moment, Mike felt as though he’d wandered into Elsa’s ice palace.
The livestream viewers were just as impressed.
[ZhourongHephaestus: Wow... That’s BEAUTIFUL!]
[Seresupes: I want to visit that place so badly!]
Mike nodded as he looked around.
"Yeah, it’s gorgeous!"
Then he shifted his feet against the frozen ground.
"But man, my butt’s going to freeze off if I sit down in here!"
Admiring the scenery was one thing. Actually staying in a cave made almost entirely of ice was another matter.
After discussing it with the Jynx and receiving their permission, Mike decided to set up camp in a corner of the cave.
He’d brought a tent specifically designed for use in snowy mountain environments, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to put it to use.
With Gengar and the others helping, they quickly got the tent assembled.
Once it was standing, Mike crawled inside to see how comfortable it was.
"Hmm... Not bad!"
The interior wasn’t exactly warm, but it was considerably better than sitting directly on the frozen ground.
It was still a little chilly, although nothing he couldn’t manage.
Once he closed the entrance and zipped everything up properly, it should be comfortable enough.
Satisfied with their temporary shelter, Mike climbed back out.
Next came the important part.
Lunch!
He and his Pokémon began preparing a makeshift cooking area nearby.
Mike was looking around for suitable stones to build a simple stove when the Jynx noticed what he was doing.
Apparently deciding that their new friend needed some help, several of them headed toward a nearby rock wall.
Then they unleashed their psychic powers.
BOOOOM!
A tremendous rumble echoed through the cave as chunks of stone broke away from the wall.
Several enormous rocks were blasted loose and sent tumbling into the snow.
Before Mike could even react, the Jynx walked over, picked up the massive stones with their hands, and carried them back toward him.
One after another, they deposited the rocks directly in front of him.
Mike stared at the growing pile.
"..."
He looked up at the nearest Jynx.
"Um... Jynx? I appreciate the help, but I really don’t need rocks THAT big..."
The Jynx tilted her head in confusion.
Then she looked toward her companions.
Unfortunately, the other Jynx had apparently decided that bigger was better.
Each one seemed determined to bring back an even larger rock than the last.
Mike watched another enormous stone being carried toward him and hurriedly raised his hands.
"Okay! Okay! That’s enough! You can stop now!"
He glanced toward the damaged rock wall.
"Please don’t tear the whole canyon apart just because I’m trying to make lunch!"
The Jynx obediently put down the rocks they’d been carrying.
Once they’d finished, they gathered around Mike again, clearly eager to help him with whatever came next.
Unfortunately, their enthusiasm was becoming more trouble than it was worth.
Mike decided it would be safer to give them something else to do.
"It’s all right! Gengar and the others can help me with the cooking," he assured them. "Why don’t you go over there and dance for a while instead? There are lots of people who really enjoy watching you!"
The Jynx looked at him curiously.
Mike took the Rotom Phone and held it in front of one of them.
"See this? Look at how many people are watching!"
He pointed toward the livestream’s viewer count.
"That’s over a hundred thousand people!"
The Jynx froze.
’Over a HUNDRED THOUSAND?!’
’And they’re all watching us dance?!’
Her eyes widened with excitement!
"JYNX!"
[GIRLS! COME ON! LET’S GO DANCE!]
With that enthusiastic invitation, she gathered the other Jynx and led them toward an open area of the cave.
A moment later, they began dancing together.
Their movements were lively and energetic, and they quickly settled into another enthusiastic performance.
Rotom raised the drone higher into the air and adjusted its position so that both Mike’s cooking area and the dancing Jynx could fit into the same shot.
The resulting livestream was rather unusual.
On one side, a group of Jynx were putting on a lively dance performance.
On the other, Mike was preparing a meal, with steam beginning to rise from the cooking equipment.
Both scenes attracted plenty of attention.
[FILLER_OF_BLOOP: I’m telling you guys, Jynx are AMAZING dancers! LOOK AT THEM!]
[HongMeirin: I know everyone’s watching the Jynx, but can we talk about how good Mike looks when he’s cooking?!]
With the Jynx happily occupied, Mike was finally able to concentrate on preparing lunch.
Gengar, however, had other plans.
At some point during the cooking process, the Ghost-type slipped away from the stove and joined the Jynx on the dance floor.
Before long, he was showing off his own collection of ridiculous dance moves again.
Mike noticed but didn’t bother stopping him.
Given their surroundings and the limited facilities available, there wasn’t much point attempting to prepare anything particularly elaborate anyway.
He decided to keep the meal simple.
By the time lunch was ready, Gengar was still dancing enthusiastically with the Jynx.
Mike glanced in his direction.
"Gengar! Food’s ready!"
The effect was immediate.
One moment, Gengar was dancing in the middle of the group.
The next, he’d vanished.
He reappeared beside Mike almost instantly.
"Gengar!"
[What are we eating?!]
Mike looked at his eager expression and couldn’t help smiling.
"Nothing fancy. We’re just having something simple today."
As he spoke, he reached out and tugged playfully at Gengar’s cheek.
The Jynx soon gathered around as well, with the little Smoochum following close behind them.
Once everything was ready, Mike set out the food.
He also asked Gengar to distribute some Poffins to the Jynx and Smoochum so that their new friends would have something delicious to enjoy too.
Then Mike sat down, looked up toward the hovering drone, and smiled at the camera.
"All right, everyone! Time for lunch!"
With that, he picked up his food and started eating.
The chat stared.
[Everyone: ?????]
[NihilNeko: WAIT, THAT’S IT?! YOU’RE JUST GOING TO EAT IN FRONT OF US?!]
[19SARD99: EXCUSE ME?! WHERE’S MY PORTION?!]
[ballooon: Great. Now I’m hungry too. Guess I’ll order some takeout...]
Mike happily continued eating, paying absolutely no attention to their complaints.
Nearby, the Jynx were examining the Poffins Gengar had handed them.
They glanced at the treats in their hands, then at one another.
After a moment of hesitation, one of them popped a Poffin into her mouth.
Her eyes widened.
"JYNX?!"
The taste was incredible!
She immediately stuffed the rest of her Poffins into her mouth and began chewing enthusiastically.
Her eyes practically turned into delighted spirals.
Seeing her reaction, the other Jynx quickly followed suit.
Within moments, they’d finished everything Gengar had given them.
And naturally, they wanted more.
Gengar noticed their eager expressions.
He hesitated for a moment before reaching into his supplies and taking out another batch of Poffins.
"Gengar!"
[Easy, easy! Slow down! There’s more, don’t worry!]
He distributed the treats among the excited Jynx, who happily accepted them and continued eating.
The problem was that the Poffins weren’t simply food Mike had prepared for their visitors.
They were also Gengar’s personal snacks.
His precious snacks.
The ones he usually kept for himself.
And now...
They were disappearing at an alarming rate.
Gengar continued handing out the Poffins, but his cheerful expression gradually became more strained.
By the time the Jynx had finally eaten their fill, almost his entire supply was gone.
The livestream viewers noticed immediately.
[Lordmoonlight: HAHAHAHAHA! LOOK AT GENGAR’S FACE!]
[Yopleasee: Oh noooo! HIS SNACKS! HE LOOKS SO HEARTBROKEN!]
Mike had noticed too.
Seeing Gengar’s miserable expression, he leaned closer and whispered into his ear.
"Hey, don’t look so upset. Once we get back down from Mount Coronet, I’ll make you plenty more, okay?"
Gengar looked up at him.
His expression immediately improved.
Well, a little.
He was certainly relieved to hear that Mike would replace his snacks, but that didn’t make watching nearly his entire supply disappear any less painful.
After all, those had been HIS Poffins!
Mike smiled at his reaction and returned to his lunch.
Once everyone had finished eating, he turned toward the Jynx.
"Well? How was it? Did everyone get enough to eat?"
The Jynx immediately became excited.
They gathered around Mike, raising their hands and bouncing happily in place.
"Jynx~!"
[Delicious! LOYALTY TO MIKEEE!!!]
Mike froze.
He stared at the Jynx.
Then he looked at the strange movements they were making as they chanted.
"..."
Something about this seemed terribly familiar.
He narrowed his eyes.
"Jynx...?"
The Jynx looked at him happily.
"Who taught you that dance?"
"Jynx?"
[Gengar did! Why?]
Mike’s temples immediately began throbbing.
Of course.
OF COURSE IT WAS GENGAR!
He slowly turned his head.
Nearby, Gengar had apparently realized that something was wrong.
The Ghost-type was already attempting to slip away unnoticed.
He’d barely taken a few steps when Mike’s voice rang out behind him.
"GENGAR! GET BACK HERE!"
Gengar froze.
For one brief moment, he remained perfectly still.
Then he bolted!
"YOU LITTLE TROUBLEMAKER!"
Mike grabbed Gengar’s slender bamboo switch and immediately charged after him.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO TEACH OTHER POKéMON ALL THAT RIDICULOUS STUFF YOU KEEP FINDING ONLINE!"
Gengar ran for his life.
Mike chased after him, brandishing the bamboo switch as he shouted.
"IT’S BAD ENOUGH THAT YOU KEEP WATCHING THAT NONSENSE YOURSELF! NOW YOU’RE TEACHING IT TO EVERYONE ELSE?!"
The livestream viewers were laughing so hard they could barely keep up with the scene.
[ZhourongHephaestus: HAHAHAHAHA! I CAN’T WITH THIS GENGAR ANYMORE!]
[Mat_tokki: I’M CRYING! GENGAR, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!]
