Julian smiled.
She was anxious.
Cynthia is anxious!
He had not expected this unexpected evil spirit incident to further reveal Cynthia’s feelings towards him.
Originally, he had planned to call Cynthia and ask her out after sending the delivery.
He had not expected her to be unable to hold back first.
Thank you, evil spirit, for the assist
Julian would choose a suitable ending for it.
On the surface, Cynthia seemed to be standing up for her good friend.
But Julian knew Cynthia was Cassia. That meant Cynthia’s current behaviour proved that his words about preparing to confess to Cassia had also left her heart in turmoil.
Julian had known it.
Cynthia’s feelings for him were as strong as his feelings for Cynthia.
After thinking for a moment, Cynthia still said, "Is it strong? I happen to have some time. Should I come over and help you subdue it?"
"My Spiritomb is fairly good at dealing with evil spirits."
Julian’s Aura had been spreading outward this entire time.
He refused. "No need. Focus on preparing for the Elite Four ranking tournament in two months. It’s only a small evil spirit. I can handle it."
"If you came all the way here, it would waste too much of your time."
Cynthia nodded.
Since she knew Julian was handling proper business, she would forgive him for now.
"Fine. Then I’ll go train my Pokémon."
Cynthia hung up and rubbed her slightly hot cheeks.
That intense string of questions just now had not left her own heart calm either.
Suddenly, Cassia’s phone rang.
Cynthia hurried over to pick it up. Sure enough, Julian was calling.
She snorted lightly.
At the same time, she quickly adjusted her voice.
"Hello~ Hello~ Hello~"
Cynthia nodded.
Right.
That was Cassia’s voice.
Only then did she answer the phone.
"Julian, is something wrong?"
Julian apologised, "Sorry, Cassia. I was originally planning to go to the post office first thing this morning and send the ice cream to you."
"But an emergency came up. There’s an evil spirit I need to deal with."
"After receiving challengers yesterday, I immediately rushed to the flower garden, gathered fresh petals, and came back to make the floral ice cream."
"A full three hundred kilo, all made with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients. You can eat it slowly and share some with your colleagues at the research institute too."
Cynthia’s eyes lit up.
Three hundred kilo!
Julian had actually made that much!
The moment she heard that number, Cynthia immediately forgave Julian.
Still, she worked hard to maintain Cassia’s voice.
"I’m not in a hurry. Handle your proper business first."
Julian nodded.
"I’ll try to resolve this matter today. As for the ice cream, I’ve already called the post office. They’ll come to pick it up."
"It should arrive at the History Research Institute in Celestic Town tomorrow."
Cynthia tried hard to control her emotions.
"Alright. I understand."
After hanging up, Cynthia rushed out of the room and shouted to Professor Carolina, "Grandma, I’m going out to train!"
Professor Carolina smiled faintly and nodded.
At least she knows to take the initiative. This girl is not completely hopeless
A fine young man like Julian had to be held onto properly. If Cynthia did not seize the chance and some other girl stole him away, she would not even have time to cry.
Wasn’t Agatha too proud back then? That was how she ended up being outmanoeuvred by Oak’s gentle, soft-hearted wife.
Julian’s Aura was not working well, so he released Gengar.
After Gengar understood the situation, he clenched his fists angrily.
There was actually such an evil spirit!
Sinnoh did not allow such an evil spirit to exist!
The most evil Ghost in Sinnoh could only be him, Gengar!
Gengar immediately began circling the village, searching for where the evil spirit was hiding.
Suddenly, a shrill scream rang out.
"The evil spirit! The evil spirit has appeared again!"
A middle-aged man’s voice sounded.
"Honchkrow, Dark Pulse!"
"Miraidon, Dragon Pulse!"
Miraidon spat out a purple dragon-shaped flame, detonating Honchkrow’s Dark Pulse ahead of time.
"Please wait. I’m Julian Veyne, the Gym Leader of Veilstone Gym. I received Miss Joy’s message and came here to capture the evil spirit."
A middle-aged man walked out. There were three claw marks on his face, and one of his eyes had nearly been blinded.
"You’re the one who was moving around the village just now?"
Julian nodded.
"That was me. You’re the Trainer who protected the villagers, right?"
The middle-aged man sighed.
"I’m already no Trainer. I couldn’t do anything at all. I didn’t protect a single person."
Julian had scanned the village with Aura earlier, so he had some understanding of the villagers’ conditions.
"Don’t worry. Once we catch it, we can recover the life force it stole from them. For now, give them some nutritional supplements. Oran Berry juice, for example."
"That should be enough to maintain their vital signs."
The middle-aged man froze for a moment.
"Just Oran Berry juice is enough?"
Julian nodded.
"Oran Berries can replenish a Pokémon’s stamina, but they work for humans too. The villagers’ current condition is similar to Pokémon after being hit by Dream Eater."
The middle-aged man’s eyes widened.
"You haven’t even looked at the injured villagers, and you already know their condition?"
Julian smiled and said, "I already circled the village just now, so I basically understand the situation."
The middle-aged man was filled with emotion.
"As expected of a Gym Leader. You really are impressive. We only notified the Pokémon Centre in the middle of the night, and yet you arrived first thing in the morning."
Even Officer Jenny was still on the road, riding over.
At that moment, Gengar flew back to Julian’s side and excitedly pointed north.
"Gengar!"
He had found traces of the evil spirit.
The middle-aged man looked north.
"There’s a gloomy cave over there. When I was young, I once went adventuring there with my friends, but we were scared out by the Ghost Pokémon living inside."
"That was also when I met Honchkrow, back when he was still a Murkrow. We travelled together after that."
A sharp light flashed in Julian’s eyes.
"The evil spirit should be digesting the life force it swallowed last night. We can’t let it succeed, or the villagers’ will be badly damaged."
"Without a year or more of recovery, they won’t regain their energy."
And even if they did recover, their bodies would never quite compare to before.
He had to take back the life force the evil spirit had swallowed!
"Miraidon!"
Julian immediately mounted him and recalled Gengar into his Poké Ball.
The middle-aged man grabbed Honchkrow’s claws and said, "I’ll go with you!"
Miraidon launched forward and flew directly into the sky, shooting towards the cave.
Seeing Julian race away, the middle-aged man seemed to understand why Julian had arrived so quickly.
When they reached the cave, Gengar jumped out of his Poké Ball at once.
Julian also released Gallade.
Miraidon voluntarily walked at the very front, his body shining and illuminating the dark cave.
Deep inside the cave, a black shadow saw Julian’s group intrude.
It immediately lunged at them!
Julian shouted, "Bold spirit! Show your true form!"
"Miraidon!"
When Miraidon heard his name, lightning erupted from his entire body and he pounced.
Electro Drift!
