Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Abandoned By Time

A/N:1/10 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Last time in the simulation, he had been a weak Hisuian Sneasel. It was perfectly normal that he could not beat Hisuian Braviary.

But in reality, he wanted to properly exchange blows with Braviary.

"Go, Gengar!"

Gengar revealed a sinister grin. He raised his hand, skipped the apology, and fired a Shadow Ball directly.

Back then, Gallade had avoided this move with agility.

But Braviary had probably gone too long without battling Pokémon.

He underestimated the speed at which Gengar released Shadow Ball. Although he tried hard to dodge, the Shadow Ball still struck him in the chest.

He let out a shrill, furious eagle cry.

His two wings spread wide, dazzling streams of Psychic power flaring brilliantly.

Esper Wing!

This was the move.

The one that had hurt Julian so deeply.

"Phantom Force."

If it could not hit, then no matter how powerful Esper Wing was, it was useless!

As for Esper Wing increasing Speed...

Julian smiled faintly.

Would he give Braviary another chance to use a move?

Gengar appeared behind Braviary and fiercely struck him in the side.

"Lick."

Braviary had just been about to use an eagle cry to rouse himself when a large pink tongue spun wildly across his face.

Ghost energy seeped into Braviary’s body. Braviary felt his body fall into paralysis, unable to move.

"Hypnosis."

He was going to use Braviary’s own Psychic-type move to beat him until he knelt!

Braviary faced Hypnosis head-on, then blankly crashed to the ground.

"Dream Eater!"

Gengar passed straight through Braviary’s body, directly taking away Braviary’s remaining stamina.

Cynthia also cleanly defeated Wyrdeer.

But watching Julian’s battle, she kept feeling that Julian and Braviary had some kind of personal grudge.

Cynthia took out the detector.

"Two white Pokémon, and both are Psychic type. Stantler’s evolution, and Braviary’s regional form."

"I’m really curious what kind of era it was."

The two continued forward. Along the way, they did not encounter any more Pokémon.

Cynthia looked somewhat disappointed.

The Pokémon here were powerful and extremely rare.

Battling them was exhilarating!

From afar, the two saw an ancient-looking manor.

"Looks like we’ve arrived."

At the manor gate, there was actually another Pokémon guarding the entrance.

Samurott!

Cynthia still wanted to claim the fight, but Julian hurriedly stopped her.

"This one is a swordsman. Leave him to Gallade!"

Gallade appeared and revealed his elbow blades.

Samurott likewise drew the shell blades on his arms.

This was a Sharpness Hisuian Samurott.

Upon seeing Gallade, Samurott’s gaze became sharp as well.

Unlike that dull Kleavor who only knew how to chop trees, the Gallade before him was a true swordsman Samurott had been waiting for.

A blue blade of light shone from Samurott’s shell blade as he swung fiercely.

Gallade’s purple blade of light lit up as he slashed out as well.

The shell blade and Psycho Cut collided and shattered in the air.

Tiny fragments of light-blades danced chaotically, cutting the grass into pieces.

When they fell to the ground, they sank at least a metre deep into the earth.

Samurott’s shell abruptly darkened, the edge of his blade flashing with a black, cold light, as if the abyss had condensed into a blade.

Ceaseless Edge! Black blade splitting the sky, layered waves becoming a prison!

Gallade crossed both blades. Blinding white radiance burst from his elbows, Fighting energy piercing the air like a rainbow.

Sacred Sword! A white rainbow piercing the sun in one strike!

Clang!

Black and white edges collided violently in mid-air. Sparks scattered, and waves of force exploded outward!

Samurott’s thousand-layer sword surged like raging tides, wave upon wave, as if trying to swallow his opponent whole.

Gallade’s Sacred Sword, meanwhile, descended relentlessly. Pure and razor-sharp, it forcibly split apart the heavy dark waves!

Shing!

Sword shadows crossed, and both figures suddenly separated.

A shallow white mark remained on Samurott’s armour.

As for Gallade...

He was completely unharmed!

On the mountain path of the Great Crater of Paldea, Gallade had already witnessed what a true peerless swordsman looked like.

The Samurott before him was no longer a challenge to Gallade.

Only a respectable opponent.

Samurott lowered his head and glanced at the wound, then collapsed to the ground.

The two walked into the manor, warily observing everything around them.

A flower-like humanoid Pokémon was humming a song in the flowerbed.

She completely ignored the people and Pokémon who had intruded.

Julian smiled and stepped forward.

"Hello. May I ask if the owner of the manor is here?"

Lilligant smiled and pointed to the villa behind her.

Julian nodded.

"Thank you."

Cynthia looked at the villa, which clearly possessed modern characteristics.

"Let’s go. We’ll take a look inside."

They pushed open the door. Sitting on the sofa in the villa’s hall was a woman dressed in a black formal gown.

"May I ask, are you the owner of this manor?"

The woman took a sip of tea, rose, and smiled faintly at them.

Then she suddenly quickened her steps and vanished from their sight.

Cynthia blinked.

"This is the first time I’ve seen someone run that fast while wearing a formal gown!"

Julian smiled.

"Unless that wasn’t a person."

Cynthia immediately understood.

"It was an illusion disguised by a Pokémon!"

The two immediately chased after her and found the villa’s back door open.

After walking out the back door, they arrived in the villa’s rear garden and saw another woman in a black formal gown drinking tea.

"Come over."

Since the other party took the initiative to speak, she was probably not a Pokémon disguise.

The two walked into the pavilion and looked at the face beneath the hat.

Cynthia was somewhat surprised.

Aside from having silver hair, the other woman looked extremely similar to her.

"You..."

The manor’s owner beckoned.

"Sit down. Have some tea first. Whatever business you have, we can discuss it slowly."

Julian took a sip and revealed a surprised expression.

"This tea... it should be made from an ancient plant that has already gone extinct, right?"

"The flavour is very unique. The aroma is rich, and there’s a sweet aftertaste. Very good tea!"

The manor owner smiled.

"You’re quite good."

She then looked at Cynthia.

"You, and Garchomp too, remind me of a disciple from back then."

Cynthia asked curiously, "Who?"

"His name was Volo. He was an ambitious young man. Unfortunately, the era belonging to the ancient Sinnoh people had already passed."

"Besides, he was only a young man with a faint trace of ancient Sinnoh blood. Even after joining forces with Giratina, his ambition still ended in failure."

"It seems his ending was not too bad, since he left behind a descendant like you."

Cynthia frowned.

"I’ve never heard of having an ancestor called Volo."

The manor owner shook her head.

"As a failure, his deeds would naturally sink into dust, unknown to the world."

"That includes me. An ancient Sinnoh person who left her own era can only continue existing in the cracks of space-time."

"If I leave this place, I can only become a traveller forever without a place to rest, wandering endlessly."

"Since you were fortunate enough to enter, then taste some food from ancient times that has long been lost."

Cynthia nodded respectfully.

"Thank you. My name is Cynthia. I live in Celestic Town."

Julian smiled.

"My name is Julian Veyne. I live in Veilstone City, on the eastern coast, where the meteorites fell."

The manor owner nodded.

"That is a good place. The energy of the meteorites made the land fertile. It would indeed develop into a human settlement."

Although he already knew, Julian still knowingly asked, "May I ask who you are, miss?"

The manor owner waved a hand.

"My name is Cogita. A pitiful person abandoned by time."
