Chapter 288: Chapter 288: An Ordinary Bewear

A/N:5/10 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Garchomp swung her shark fins and ruthlessly bullied the poor Totem Garchomp.

Julian could not bear to watch and turned his head away.

Why did you have to provoke Cynthia and Garchomp?

Forget the fact that Garchomp now knew Dragon Dance. Even if she did not...

Totem Garchomp still would not have won!

After Totem Garchomp was chopped into the mist again by Garchomp’s fin, he did not appear anymore.

Cynthia seemed a little disappointed.

"I thought Totem Garchomp would be stronger. I didn’t expect him to only be at this level."

Julian blinked.

Didn’t you and Garchomp... already enjoy that fight enough?

Julian felt that compared to when he first appeared, Totem Garchomp’s colour seemed much duller.

As a spirit, the poor Totem Garchomp had literally been beaten pale by Garchomp.

And Cynthia still was not satisfied.

Woman, thy name is greed!

Julian looked around.

"Let’s keep going. We should encounter more Pokémon that are more interesting than Totem Garchomp."

Cynthia nodded.

"If we encounter Totem Kommo-o, make sure to leave it to me!"

Julian nodded helplessly.

"Fine. As long as it’s a Totem, I’ll leave it to you."

Cynthia smiled.

"Then the other Pokémon we meet on the way can be handled by your Pokémon."

Cynthia, you’re still too young

Compared to Totem Pokémon, there are definitely more ordinary Pokémon!

The five Decidueye that had appeared earlier were not actually much weaker than Totem Garchomp.

The only difference was that they had not become Totem Pokémon.

And in Julian’s Aura perception, Totem Garchomp was far inferior to the living Totem Kommo-o.

Not in battle strength.

But in Totem aura!

As a spirit, Totem Garchomp had lost at least seventy percent of the power brought by his Totem aura.

Tapu Fini could only summon spirits. She could not make those spirits possess the same strength they had when alive.

Otherwise, the strongest fighter among the Tapu would not be Tapu Koko.

The two continued forward, and the mist became thicker and thicker.

Julian reached out his hand.

"Let’s hold hands. With mist this thick, we could get separated if we’re not careful."

Cynthia placed her hand in his.

"Alright."

The two recalled their Pokémon and continued forward hand in hand.

Feeling the warmth from Julian’s large hand, Cynthia smiled slightly.

Cassia, oh Cassia

For a trial like Tapu Fini’s, where strength was needed, it still had to be Cynthia who stepped up!

Looking at the mist ahead, Cynthia realised she could no longer tell directions at all.

"Julian, where should we go next?"

Julian released his Aura with all his strength, but it still could not extend beyond ten metres.

Even so, he could barely distinguish the direction.

"This way. This is the shortest path to the spring."

Through the water mirror, Tapu Fini watched Julian’s every move.

Without seeing Julian’s actions directly, Tapu Fini did not know that it was Aura.

But she was certain Julian possessed an ability that allowed him to identify direction inside the mist.

That would not do.

Those who could see her within the mist needed both strength and luck.

How could she let Julian rely purely on strength and walk straight to the pool?

Tapu Fini had to summon her trump card and buy herself some time.

She stirred the spring with a wave of her hand, and the mist throughout Whitewater Valley rapidly grew even denser, reaching the point where one could not see their hand in front of their face.

Cynthia frowned.

"The mist has thickened."

Cynthia seemed to have no special abilities, but as Volo’s descendant, she was not simple.

Julian nodded.

Even the range of his Aura perception had been compressed to two and a half metres.

Now, reaching the spring would basically depend on luck.

Cynthia, however, smiled slightly.

"Lucario, this is where I’ll have to rely on you."

Julian smiled.

"So yesterday, you had Lucario smell the wildflowers beside the pool for this moment."

Lucario’s nose twitched, but he helplessly shook his head.

The thick mist was actually interfering with his sense of smell.

Julian smiled and said, "It’s fine. With your Aura amplifying mine, I can barely see within a five-metre range. That’s enough for us to lock onto the right direction."

After they had not walked for long, the mist suddenly thinned, allowing them to see seven or eight metres around them.

Julian smiled slightly.

"Even without using Aura to investigate, I can tell there are Pokémon spirits waiting for us here."

Sure enough, three muscular Incineroar walked out with grins, looking impatient to fight with Julian.

Julian waved his hand and released Kommo-o, Annihilape, and Toxicroak.

Since they were macho tigers, Fighting-type Pokémon were naturally the proper way to entertain them.

As Julian’s first three Pokémon, Kommo-o and the others looked at the surroundings and remembered the time they had first met.

Mountains and water.

It lit the battle passion of Kommo-o, Annihilape, and Toxicroak.

Annihilape charged first, rushing straight forward.

The three Incineroar roared loudly together.

Black-red waves directly pushed Annihilape back.

Taking a trio of Snarl head-on did not feel good for the Ghost-type Annihilape.

But to him, it was nothing much.

Black rage burned.

Enemies like this were worth fighting!

A Rage Fist, combined with Annihilape’s fifteenfold rage.

Who could stop this punch?!

Toxicroak followed closely and sprayed blue poison at one Incineroar.

Toxic!

When it landed on Incineroar, even Julian was surprised.

Spirits could actually be poisoned!

As for Kommo-o, he swiftly stacked six layers of Victory Dance at the rear.

After the final Incineroar punched Annihilape away...

Kommo-o condensed an Aura Sphere in his claw and viciously pressed it into Incineroar’s abdomen.

A violent burst of energy exploded, and Incineroar flew backwards like a torn rag.

Cynthia’s eyebrow twitched.

"Julian, isn’t Kommo-o’s method a little too brutal?"

Julian sighed helplessly.

"Kommo-o thinks getting injured helps improve his strength and defence."

"A perfectly good Aura Sphere has been turned into a method of hurting the enemy badly while hurting himself a little too."

Fear appeared in Incineroar’s eyes.

Why are these three even more macho than we are?

They could not win!

They could not win at all!

The three turned and fled into the mist, disappearing.

Continuing forward, they encountered several more groups of Pokémon.

But none were Totems.

Cynthia shook Julian’s arm.

"I feel like I was tricked. There won’t be another Totem later, will there?"

"It feels like Tapu Fini is using the number of spirits to slow us down."

Julian nodded. He had the same feeling.

At the same time, it felt like the final calm before a storm.

Julian smiled slightly.

"Don’t worry. There will be opportunities."

As he spoke, they stepped into another area where the mist was weaker.

An utterly ordinary Bewear stood quietly in the middle of the road, watching them.

Alarm bells immediately rang in Cynthia’s heart.

"Julian, we aren’t far from the pool now, are we?"
