Chapter 40: Chapter 40: So It Was Flygon

A/N:3/3 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Julian’s brain spun wildly as he tried to find a suitable place for the date.

But for the moment, his mind could not think of a proper dating spot.

"Then, Cassia, is there anywhere you want to go?"

Cynthia only smiled.

"Anywhere is fine. I’ll leave it to you."

In his desperation, Julian had a flash of inspiration.

"Why don’t we walk around the park? The cherry blossoms are blooming, so it should be quite pretty. Didn’t you say you like appreciating flowers that bloom naturally?"

"Then let’s go see the cherry blossoms, all right?"

Seeing that Julian was sweating from anxiety, Cynthia finally let him off for the time being.

"That works."

Hearing her agree, Julian finally breathed a sigh of relief.

They walked around the park once.

When Cynthia saw that Julian seemed to be heading for another lap, she began to regret it.

The cherry blossoms were indeed beautiful.

But just walking around the park like this?

No one could endure that.

It was even more boring than flower arrangement.

They might as well have gone to the pottery studio to make something.

Julian was also in a difficult position, thinking about how this date should continue.

Finally...

The ice cream food truck in the park opened for business.

Julian had a sudden idea.

"Let’s go buy ice cream."

"Sure."

"Cassia, what flavour do you want?"

Whenever it came to choosing ice cream, Cynthia fell into choice paralysis.

Julian seized the chance, took out his phone, and sent his online friend a message asking for help, while also confirming whether his friend was Cassia.

[Dancing Hakamo-o:My friend, save me!]

But Cynthia’s phone did not ring.

Cynthia turned her head.

"Julian, what flavour are you having?"

"A chocolate cone for me. Cassia, you still can’t choose?"

Cynthia smiled and shook her head.

"Every flavour looks so tempting. It’s really hard to decide."

Julian smiled.

"Why not get three scoops? Then you can try every flavour."

After receiving the three-flavour ice cream, Cynthia happily licked it.

"Delicious."

At that moment, Julian’s phone received a reply.

[KingGarchomp:What, is the date not going smoothly?]

KingGarchomp had replied.

And Cassia was right in front of him.

So...

KingGarchomp was not Cassia?

Cynthia raised an eyebrow.

"Is there a challenger at the Gym?"

Julian shook his head.

"No, it’s a friend. They need something from me. I can handle it right away."

Cynthia smiled while internally criticising him.

You shut-in.

What friend could you possibly have?

You are obviously messaging KingGarchomp and asking for support.

"It’s fine. Take your time."

In truth, Cynthia had also realised that during their previous two meetings, she had exposed many traits that belonged to KingGarchomp.

So today, she had specifically asked a good friend to use the KingGarchomp account.

Even if Julian did not send KingGarchomp a message, KingGarchomp would send one actively to prove that Cassia and KingGarchomp were not the same person.

Julian typed as quickly as possible, telling KingGarchomp about the situation he was facing.

Elsewhere, Caitlin held the phone and looked at Julian’s messages.

Since when had Cynthia become this fussy?

Afraid of mud dirtying her clothes?

Caitlin soon revealed an amused smile.

Oh.

So she was toying with her friend who had never dated before.

Cynthia, since you handed the account to me, then whatever happens next is out of your control.

[KingGarchomp:When a girl raises a problem, you should think of a way to solve it, not avoid it!]

[KingGarchomp:Since she says pottery will dirty her clothes, just take her to buy a change of clothes first!]

Right!

That was enlightening.

[KingGarchomp:Boy, be brave! Love doesn’t come to those who simply wait!]

[Dancing Hakamo-o:Got it!]

Putting away his phone, Julian smiled and said, "Cassia, I remember there’s a clothing shop near the park. Let’s go buy a change of clothes."

"Then we’ll go to the pottery studio. That way, you won’t have to worry about dirtying your clothes."

"Sure."

Cynthia smiled, while killing intent steadily leaked inside her heart.

Caitlin.

What exactly did you say to him?

At the clothing shop, Julian acted very proactively.

"Cassia, I think this white dress suits you very well. What do you think?"

Looking at the dress in Julian’s hand, Cynthia felt somewhat emotional.

A dress?

Now that she thought about it, she really did rarely wear dresses.

In the end, Cynthia still shook her head.

"Dresses don’t suit me."

She turned and chose cargo trousers and a short-sleeved shirt.

"This one."

"Then go change. That outfit is more suitable for pottery too."

While Cynthia went to change, Julian quickly paid the bill.

Just now, when he had been replying to messages, Cynthia had paid for the ice cream as well. Julian had felt truly embarrassed.

After she changed into the short-sleeved shirt and cargo trousers, Julian felt Cassia’s aura instantly change.

Beyond her intellectual elegance, there was now a kind of dominance.

How should he describe it?

Overbearing aura.

Yes.

An overbearing aura.

It felt like her previous clothes had restricted her movement.

When they arrived at the pottery studio, Julian asked Cynthia, "Cassia, do you want to make a vase or cup, or a clay figurine?"

"Let’s try everything."

Pottery was also something fresh for Cynthia.

She could use this chance to try it all.

"Then let’s make clay figurines first."

Compared to ceramics that required throwing clay on a wheel, clay figurines, which could be shaped freely, were much simpler.

Even if they came out strange, one could call it an individual style.

When they reached the clay figurine area, the instructor only briefly introduced how to use the different types of clay, the added pigment colours, and what colours they corresponded to after firing.

"The clay is over there. You can begin creating."

Cynthia paused.

"Shouldn’t the teacher instruct us in some techniques for making clay figurines?"

The instructor smiled.

"Clay figurines are very simple. Even if the shape is wrong, you can knead the clay again and reshape it. As long as you practise more, you can make the shape you want."

"Our studio focuses on the experience. If the instructor interferes too much, it can affect your experience."

Fine.

Since the instructor had said that, Cynthia could only put on an apron, take a lump of clay, and begin trying to make Garchomp.

Julian watched as the clay changed back and forth in Cynthia’s hands, slowly and painfully taking shape.

He was a little puzzled.

"Cassia, are you making Garchomp?"

If not for the two iconic shark fins on its arms, who could possibly recognise this as Garchomp?

This was simply the worst Garchomp had ever been slandered, aside from not being able to learn Dragon Dance.

Looking at the strange creature in her hands, Cynthia fell silent for a moment.

"No. I’m making Flygon."

Julian suddenly understood.

"So it was Flygon. I thought it was Flygon."

Julian forcefully held back his smile.

Why was she not insisting on Garchomp now?

"Since you’re making Flygon, Cassia, I’ll make a Garchomp."

Compared to Garchomp, Flygon was relatively simpler.

Cynthia looked again at the strange creature in her hands, then kneaded the clay back into a lump.

She wanted to see what kind of Garchomp Julian could make.

Unexpectedly, Julian’s fingers seemed to have been enchanted.

Garchomp took shape in his hands at a visible speed.

Cynthia was somewhat surprised.

Wait.

You really know how to do this?

"Have you learned this before?"

Julian smiled.

"When I make pastries, some of them also need shaping. It’s actually similar to making clay figurines."

Julian coloured the clay figurine and sent it to the master for firing.
