Pokémon: My Online Friend Is Cynthia
Chapter 50: Urshifu
Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Urshifu
Under normal circumstances, Kubfu only needed to observe the Scroll of Darkness for half a day, or at most one day, to grasp the true meaning of the fist technique and evolve into Urshifu.
Yet this Kubfu had looked at it for half a month.
Even the Kubfu that had been captured afterwards used only half a day to observe the Scroll of Waters and evolve into Rapid Strike Style Urshifu.
Comparing the performance of the two Kubfu, not only the audience, but even the suited man suspected that Kubfu might be trash that could not evolve.
Fortunately, the underground arena was not short of money.
The food provided to Kubfu had not been lowered again.
If not for the fact that no new Kubfu had been caught, the Scroll of Darkness would probably have been moved out of Kubfu’s room long ago.
Facing Pangoro’s question, Kubfu smiled and answered, "Being able to evolve only means they’ve learned the fist technique of the corresponding style. Just because I haven’t evolved doesn’t mean my fist technique is poor."
"Compared to evolution, comprehending more of the Scroll of Darkness’s true meaning is more important."
That night, the suited man appeared once again and took the Scroll of Darkness from Kubfu’s room.
It seemed a new Kubfu had been captured.
"I thought you were a genius because you defeated Tyranitar. I didn’t expect you to be trash. Since you can’t evolve, the audience no longer likes you."
"A new Kubfu has arrived. You no longer have value. Tonight, you will participate in the Moltres Battle Royale and contribute your final worth to the arena."
A battle royale.
Against Galarian Moltres.
Kubfu lowered his head, and a sharp glint flashed through his eyes.
The opportunity he had been waiting for had finally appeared.
Evolution would happen tonight.
If he wanted to escape, he had to use not only the powerful Fighting-type Pokémon he had befriended over the past half month, such as Pangoro, but also Galarian Moltres, the strongest Pokémon in the underground arena.
Pangoro took a deep breath.
"Little one, later, don’t rush too far forward. Learn from me. As long as we last long enough, those humans will recall the big bird."
"When that time comes, we’ll be able to come back alive and eat tomorrow’s breakfast."
Kubfu instead asked him, "But, if there were a chance to regain freedom placed in front of you, would you risk your life to try to leave, or would you stay?"
Pangoro became somewhat anxious.
"We’re about to die soon. Can we first survive, then think about freedom?"
Kubfu smiled.
"Since I want freedom, naturally I can solve the survival problem you mentioned. Although I don’t have the ability to defeat Moltres..."
"I do have the ability to release Moltres. And plenty of it!"
Pangoro lowered his voice.
"You want to use the big bird to escape? Can you solve the thing around our necks?"
Kubfu was full of confidence.
"As long as I evolve into Urshifu, I can smash the collars with my fist."
Pangoro slammed a fist into the ground.
"Since you can break the collars, then I’ll risk my life and do this with you once!"
Kubfu nodded.
"Then I’ll have to ask you to speak with everyone, Pangoro. You have prestige. Everyone is willing to listen to you."
"All right!"
After several warm-up battles, it was finally time for the thrilling Moltres Battle Royale.
The Pokémon participating in this event were Kubfu, Pangoro, Lucario, Mienshao, Annihilape, and Sirfetch’d.
On the other side were Tyranitar, Duraludon, Rhyperior, and Aggron.
As for Aerodactyl, Tyrantrum, Rampardos, and Bastiodon, as revived fossil Pokémon, they were relatively precious. It was much harder to obtain a second of them compared to the four above.
On ordinary days, the two groups were gathered together to fight one-on-one battles.
Now, facing Galarian Moltres, the two groups were not united. If Kubfu had not planned to evolve and break out today, the casualties would probably be disastrous.
It felt as if this Moltres Battle Royale was specifically arranged to make some Pokémon die for the amusement of the esteemed audience, while also giving Moltres something to kill for fun.
Before Moltres appeared, the host was given some time to warm up the atmosphere.
As gladiators and beast fighters, they could also communicate with each other a little.
Pangoro, being experienced, stood up to take charge.
"You four and I are large. If we run, we definitely can’t outrun the flying big bird. If we want to live, the five of us can only take turns holding it back."
Tyranitar snorted.
"Then those five small ones get the benefits for free?"
Pangoro smiled.
"They’ll go first to attract the big bird’s attention. We’ll be responsible for buying them a chance to catch their breath."
"Don’t tell me you think the five of us alone can withstand the big bird’s attacks. They are the key to keeping us alive."
They definitely could not win.
They could only rely on repeated provocation and kiting to drag things out until the Battle Royale ended.
"Now we divide into groups. One handles provocation, and one handles endurance."
Originally, Pangoro wanted to pair Kubfu with himself, but unexpectedly, Kubfu said, "I’ll be with Tyranitar."
Tyranitar snorted again.
"Since you think highly of me and are willing to group with me, I’ll definitely buy you enough time."
Having been defeated by Kubfu twice, Tyranitar was naturally willing to team with him.
It was precisely because of those two defeats that Tyranitar had become expendable material for the Battle Royale.
Kubfu asked Tyranitar, "How long can you endure the electric shock and keep Sandstorm active?"
Tyranitar’s expression stiffened.
"What are you trying to do?"
"I need you to use Sandstorm to buy me some time."
Tyranitar thought about it.
"As long as I don’t release a sandstorm covering the whole field and only cover a small area, if it doesn’t last too long, they probably won’t use the electric shock."
"How much time do you need?"
Kubfu looked at Tyranitar.
"One minute."
Tyranitar grinned.
"Just one minute? I’ll endure the electric shock and hold it for you."
Pangoro waved.
"Later, Mienshao and I will go first and give you a demonstration. Kubfu, you go last. Watch carefully how we do it."
Galarian Moltres was released from its cage by the staff.
The cage looked very familiar.
It was formed from several interlocking rotating rings.
It was practically the same model as the cage used by the collector in the movie to capture the three legendary birds of Shamouti Island.
The cage scattered into individual rings, and Galarian Moltres descended like a tiger leaving the mountain.
It only had one chance a month.
It had to use the ten Pokémon on the field properly to vent its anger.
Mienshao took the lead and fired an Aura Sphere at Moltres, detonating it in front of Moltres.
It even arrogantly beckoned towards Moltres.
Moltres released Air Slash and dove towards Mienshao at the same time.
Mienshao turned and ran.
On the other side, Lucario waited until Moltres was about to catch up to Mienshao, then also fired an Aura Sphere.
Moltres twisted its body to dodge, glanced at Lucario, and did not chase it.
Pangoro took the initiative to charge forward, then was sent flying by Moltres’s wing, rolling far away along the ground.
Watching him fly, the corner of Kubfu’s mouth twitched.
That dive was a little too fake.
But Moltres enjoyed it.
Pleased, it decided to play with Mienshao a little longer.
It opened its mouth and spat out Dark Pulse, watching Mienshao dodge left and right in a miserable state while it let out an unpleasant screech.
That voice was even uglier than the cries of Dodrio and Fearow.
"Tyranitar, now!"
Tyranitar nodded and released a thick Sandstorm, hiding Kubfu inside.
Kubfu pulled the ponytail-like white fur behind his head.
A powerful white light appeared around his body.
Kubfu’s body grew taller and stronger, gradually becoming a mighty and imposing Urshifu.
After completing evolution, Urshifu immediately used Rock Smash to strike the same point on the collar around his neck.
The timing was about right.
A thick layer of black light condensed around Urshifu’s right fist.
Wicked Blow.
Urshifu reached out and pulled hard.
The collar was torn apart by him.
He moved his neck twice and felt the long-lost breath of freedom.
