Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Golden Magikarp

A/N: 1/3 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Perhaps Julian and Cynthia’s sweetness had provoked Gyarados, this single guy, because Gyarados let out an angry roar.

The two Eevee arched their backs, trying to intimidate Gyarados.

Seeing that Gyarados wanted to use Hydro Pump, Julian swung the rod with force again. The enormous strength made Gyarados’s mouth turn aside.

This prevented Hydro Pump from hitting him and Cassia.

Hydro Pump shot into the sky, but the hook also came loose from Gyarados’s mouth.

Julian immediately took out a Poké Ball.

"Gallade, Psycho Cut!"

Red light flashed in Gallade’s eyes.

There was actually a Pokémon that dared to try harming his Master.

Unforgivable!

Gallade swung his blade, releasing a purple Psycho Cut.

A blade of light over two metres long instantly struck Gyarados.

The powerful force directly carried Gyarados to the opposite riverbank, where it landed and flattened a large patch of bushes with a rumbling crash.

Gyarados slowly propped up its head, wanting to roar.

But perhaps because it pulled at its injuries, its neck tilted, and it fainted.

The huge noise made Maylene and Paul, who were eating, immediately put down their chopsticks and run over.

They arrived just in time to see Julian and Cassia hugging together, still holding the fishing rod.

And Gyarados lying on the opposite bank.

Maylene smiled.

As expected of my brother!

He’d hugged her this quickly.

Paul’s gaze, however, was attracted by Gallade, who was still in a state of furious anger.

Powerful, handsome, and overflowing with dominance!

Only after noticing Maylene’s gaze did Cynthia react.

She seemed to still be hugging Julian...

Cynthia immediately broke free from Julian’s arms.

"Cassia, was this Gyarados something you fished up?"

Cynthia nodded.

"I didn’t expect there to actually be Gyarados in this river either!"

Maylene sighed.

"I only fished up Magikarp thirteen times. If only I could fish up Gyarados too."

Paul said calmly, "Weren’t you here to fish for golden Magikarp?"

Maylene raised her head.

"Can’t I fish for both Gyarados and golden Magikarp?"

Maylene’s expression suddenly changed.

"I need to hurry back. If we leave the grilled meat out like this and it gets stolen by wild Pokémon, that would be such a waste."

Sure enough, when Maylene returned, she discovered a wild Zangoose stealing the grilled meat from the open layer.

"Ah, my grilled meat!"

The furious Maylene directly punched Zangoose in the abdomen.

The powerful force carried Zangoose into the air, sending it flying far into the forest before it fell.

Paul, who had slowly walked back, happened to see Zangoose flying away. A few drops of cold sweat unconsciously appeared on his forehead.

Paul and Maylene had known each other since they were very young, so he knew Maylene had monstrous strength.

But the Maylene from childhood did not seem to have strength to this degree, right?

One punch sent a Zangoose flying.

Was she really a human, or a Pokémon?

He absolutely could not make Maylene angry. Paul was a little afraid that he would also be sent flying like that Zangoose.

Zangoose was probably fine, but Paul was certain he could not withstand it.

"Luckily, Zangoose didn’t steal too much."

Maylene sat down and happily continued eating grilled meat.

She also madly devoured fried rice while she was at it.

Gallade was very unwilling, but under Julian’s request, he still used Confusion to move Gyarados back into the river.

Julian believed that soaking in the water would let Gyarados wake up soon.

Cynthia cast her rod again. This time, what she fished up was an ordinary Magikarp.

After confirming that Cynthia was fine, Julian also cast his fishing rod nearby.

"Cassia, is your work researching ancient ruins dangerous?"

Cynthia thought about the work experiences Professor Carolina had told her and said, "It’s all right. Many of the mechanisms arranged in ancient ruins have already failed after the long passage of time."

"As for the remaining ones, don’t worry. The research institute has Pokémon and Trainers specifically responsible for security. There has never been a problem."

Only then did Julian nod.

"Cassia, you must protect yourself when doing research."

Julian’s fishing rod also moved. He pulled it up and saw that it was actually a Buizel.

"Bui!"

Buizel’s eyes were bright. It actually took the initiative to jump ashore, bouncing in eagerness as if wanting to battle Julian.

Gallade wanted to step forward, but Julian shook his head.

Originally, Julian wanted to recall Gallade into his Poké Ball, but Gallade refused to go back.

He insisted on staying outside to protect Julian.

Julian could only let him remain outside.

"Croagunk, I’ll leave this to you."

Buizel attacked first, spinning its tail and swinging hard. A rotating white wind blade quickly flew over.

Razor Wind!

This Buizel could actually use Razor Wind, proving its strength was quite decent. No wonder it dared provoke him.

"Dodge. Brick Break!"

Facing the sharp wind blade, Croagunk lightly scoffed.

Avoid its edge?

I’m supposed to avoid its edge?

He swung his palm and shattered Razor Wind.

Locking his eyes onto Buizel, Croagunk rushed forward and opened with a heavy palm, sending Buizel flying.

Buizel’s eyes bulged as it looked at Croagunk in disbelief.

What kind of strength was this...

The speed was fast too. Buizel completely could not react.

Realising that Croagunk was difficult to fight, Buizel directly jumped into the river.

Julian thought Buizel had run away, but then Buizel rotated its tail, stirring up river water like surging waves and striking towards Croagunk.

Croagunk grinned and spat out a Sludge Bomb, triggering an explosion.

It blasted apart the huge wave and blew Buizel away.

This time, after entering the water, there was no movement from Buizel for a long while.

Julian smiled.

"Sly little thing. Looks like it really ran away."

Razor Wind and Aqua Tail. This Buizel used its tail quite well.

The ace Pokémon of Pastoria Gym’s Gym Leader, the wrestler Crasher Wake, was a Floatzel.

Buizel had hands and feet, so it was quite suitable for Fighting-type techniques. Just like the martial artist who trained Cacturne, Julian had even been planning to catch Buizel and try raising it.

In the end, it ran away halfway through the battle.

After Buizel escaped, the river surface quickly returned to calm.

Cynthia’s fishing rod reacted. When she pulled it up, it was actually the golden Magikarp everyone had been hoping for.

Cynthia was also very happy.

"I didn’t expect that I’d be the one to fish up the golden Magikarp."

"Gallade, Confusion."

Golden Magikarp was just about to spit out the lure in its mouth and escape when it was caught by Gallade’s Confusion.

A trace of panic flashed in Golden Magikarp’s eyes, and it began struggling wildly.

But Golden Magikarp’s meagre strength could not contend with Gallade at all.

Julian took out an empty Poké Ball and handed it to Cynthia.

"Cassia, catch it."

Cynthia caught Golden Magikarp, but directly handed the Poké Ball to Julian.

"Julian, thank you for bringing me on this outing. This camping trip has been very interesting. I’ll give this golden Magikarp to you as a thank-you gift."

Julian nodded.

"Thank you. I’ll definitely take good care of it."

Cynthia smiled slyly.

"By the way, don’t tell Kale and Maylene that I caught the golden Magikarp yet. Let them have a wonderful camping experience."

Julian revealed the same smile.

Cassia, you’re so bad.

I love it!

"Okay."

After fishing for the whole day, Maylene only caught a somewhat interesting Poliwag.

Paul’s standards were rather high, and he did not take a liking to any of the Pokémon he caught.

Dinner was prepared very lavishly. Using the wood Gallade helped collect, they lit a bonfire. The five of them enjoyed a bonfire dinner beneath the starry sky.

Caitlin raised her head and looked at the brilliant stars.

"The starry sky at the mountaintop is far brighter than the sky in the city."

Cynthia nodded.

"Looking at the stars more really does make your mood better."

Julian reached out a hand.

"Cassia, may I invite you to a dance?"

Cynthia placed her hand in his.

"Of course."
