Chapter 263: My Daughter Hina Has the Makings of a Contest Master! (Membership Extra Chapter)

The video continued playing.

The backyard of Dawsher House Pokémon Day Care.

Hina sat on a bench beside the field with Quaxly in her arms, her golden eyes fixed intently on the battle ahead.

"Hina, watch carefully!"

Dawn waved toward her daughter.

"Piplup, get ready!"

Asher walked to the opposite end of the field and threw a Poké Ball.

Red light flashed.

Kricketune landed in front of him, its long forearms hanging naturally at its sides and its oval-shaped head slightly lowered, looking almost as if it were dozing off.

Dawn took a deep breath and snapped her fingers.

"All right, here we go! Piplup, Bubble Beam!"

Piplup flipped through the air.

Countless sparkling bubbles sprayed from its mouth.

Instead of flying directly toward Kricketune, the bubbles scattered in every direction, forming a floating barrage across the field.

"X-Scissor."

Asher leisurely folded his arms.

Kricketune’s forearms traced two smooth arcs through the air.

It slid sideways to avoid the bubbles approaching from the left while slicing apart those coming from every other direction.

The entire sequence flowed perfectly.

Not a single movement was wasted.

"We’re not done yet!"

Dawn clenched both fists.

"Piplup, use Whirlpool and Ice Beam together this time!"

Piplup swept both wings in a circle in front of itself.

A spinning stream of water rose from beneath its feet, forming a small waterspout nearly three meters tall in the middle of the field.

Immediately afterward, Piplup opened its mouth.

Ice Beam struck the base of the waterspout with perfect accuracy.

Within just two seconds—

The entire spinning column of water froze solid, transforming into a frigid tornado of ice that surged straight toward Kricketune.

Asher gave a small nod.

"Use Fury Cutter."

Kricketune lightly pushed off the ground.

Its body left streak after streak of afterimages around the frozen tornado.

As the silver-white slashes became faster and faster—

The entire ice tornado shattered in an instant.

Hundreds of ice crystals scattered through the air.

But while they were still falling—

Kricketune began catching them in midair and rearranging them.

A moment later—

The ice tornado that had once spiraled vertically had transformed completely.

In its place was a transparent flying dragon stretching across the entire backyard, assembled from tens of thousands of tiny ice crystals.

Dawn stared at the sight, her mouth forming a tiny O.

"Hubby! Have you been secretly training lately?! Since when could Kricketune do something like that?!"

"It figures things out on its own. Doesn’t have much to do with me."

Asher pointed toward the crystalline dragon.

"Though I did mention this idea to it before. I just didn’t expect it to actually pull it off."

Hina clapped both little hands as hard as she could until her palms turned red.

"Mom and Dad are both amazing!"

Dawn turned around and flashed her daughter a victory sign.

"Of course! Mommy is super amazing!"

"Hina."

Asher extended one hand toward her.

"Want to give it a try too?"

Quaxly poked its head out from Hina’s arms.

It gently patted the back of her hand with one wing and gave an extremely serious cry.

"Quax, quax."

Hina looked into Quaxly’s bright little eyes.

After a moment of silence, she gave the tiniest nod.

"Mm. Dad, I want to try."

The corners of Asher’s lips lifted slightly.

"Then come on."

Hina and Quaxly took their positions.

Then Hina gave her first command.

"Ducky, Aqua Jet!"

Quaxly kicked off the ground.

High-speed water enveloped its entire body, turning it into a blue bullet that shot straight toward Kricketune.

"X-Scissor."

Kricketune met the attack head-on.

Its X-Scissor split apart the water surrounding Quaxly’s Aqua Jet, sending droplets spraying through the air.

The sunlight passed through them—

Creating a tiny rainbow.

"Aqua Cutter."

Hina’s voice was soft, but her command came at exactly the right moment.

Quaxly flipped through the air.

A blade of water, thin as a cicada’s wing, formed along the edge of its wing.

But instead of slashing at Kricketune—

It aimed at the rainbow.

The water blade passed through the suspended droplets.

Every droplet was sliced in half.

In an instant, hundreds of tiny beads of water filled the air above the field, sparkling like a miniature starry sky.

Kricketune raised its head and stared at the sea of suspended droplets.

Then it turned toward Asher and let out an oddly meaningful chirp.

Asher nodded.

"All right. Show them what you’ve got too."

"Fury Cutter."

Kricketune launched itself into the air and slashed through the suspended droplets.

Hundreds of beads of water were simultaneously cut into an incredibly fine mist.

Sunlight poured through it—

And a complete rainbow stretched across the entire backyard.

Quaxly landed steadily on the ground.

It raised its head to admire the rainbow and gave a satisfied cry.

"Quax, quax~"

"Hina——!"

Dawn rushed over in a single bound and swept Hina into her arms, rubbing her cheek enthusiastically against the top of her daughter’s head.

"That was amazing! You managed to do something like that in your very first battle!"

"That’s my daughter!"

Hina’s entire face disappeared into Dawn’s chest, leaving only the bright-red tips of her ears visible.

"M-Mom..."

"I can’t breathe..."

Asher recalled Kricketune and leisurely walked over.

He gently patted the top of Hina’s head.

"My daughter Hina..."

"She has the makings of a Contest Master."

[VIP Chat Group]

[Wallace]: Perfect! Absolutely perfect! That entire sequence just now—cutting the frozen tornado into hundreds of ice crystals and then rearranging them into a transparent flying dragon—was flawless in both rhythm and visual presentation! How exactly did you train Kricketune to do that?!

[Wallace]:@Asher, could you teach me? I genuinely want to learn this.

[Asher]: Didn’t the video already tell you? "It figured it out on its own."

[Wallace]: ...

[Leon]: Trying to get training secrets out of Asher is about as difficult as teaching Groudon how to fly.

[Raihan]: True.

[May]: Um... I thought Hina’s performance was amazing too! Cutting the water droplets into hundreds of tiny droplets made the whole scene look incredibly dreamy!

[Dawn]: Right?! Right?! Hina is amazing! (≧?≦)?

[Bianca]: Dawn, have you already completely accepted everything? Weren’t you still embarrassed about all this earlier?

[Dawn]: ...I haven’t! But being embarrassed doesn’t stop me from thinking Hina is adorable! Those are two completely different things!

[Johanna]: Two completely different things, huh? Looks like it’s about time I started preparing to move.

[Dawn]: ? Mom, where are you moving to?

[Johanna]: Somewhere near Asher’s home. That way it’ll be easier for me to look after my granddaughter in the future.

[Dawn]: MOM——!!! (??﹏??)

[Misty]:@Johanna, if you’re moving over here, we still have some empty rooms.

[Johanna]: Really? That’s wonderful. I was just worrying that I wouldn’t be able to find a suitable place.

[Dawn]: Wait, wait, wait! Mom, you’re ACTUALLY moving?!

[Iris]: Hahahahaha! This is hilarious! Hina hasn’t even been born yet, and Grandma is already packing her luggage!

[Brock]: Damn it... When will I ever receive treatment like this? Where is my future mother-in-law...?

[Croagunk]: Croag. (Poison Jab.)

[Brock]: Numb... numb... Why do you attack me every single time I try to pursue happiness...?
