Chapter 313: I’m Already an Egg! How Am I Supposed to Act Human? (Membership Extra Chapter)

Elsewhere...

After receiving Ruri’s message, Elaria went to wait for her at the estate entrance.

Before long, a black sedan came to a smooth stop in front of the gates.

The door opened.

Ruri stepped out carrying a small suitcase in one hand and the Steven Egg in the other.

"Elaria, I’m here!"

Ruri waved.

When Elaria noticed the Egg in her arms, she froze for a moment.

"Ruri, that Egg is...?"

"My dad."

Ruri’s answer was short and concise.

A metallic sheen immediately spread across the surface of the Egg.

"Niece Elaria! Quick! Is Diancie home?! Hurry and let Uncle see her!"

Before Elaria could answer—

Tiana suddenly sprang out from behind her, snatched the Steven Egg straight out of Ruri’s arms, and held it high above her head.

"Whoa! A glowing Egg!"

"This would be perfect as mood lighting for the living room!"

"Niece Tiana, calm down! If you drop me right now, someone is actually going to die!"

"Relax, Uncle Steven. I won’t drop you~"

Tiana placed the Steven Egg on the living-room coffee table, then planted both hands on her hips as though she’d accomplished something magnificent.

"Dad, come look!"

"With Uncle Steven around, our electricity bill is going down again~"

Asher walked out of the kitchen.

Without hesitation, he put one hand on the Steven Egg and spun it like a top.

"Yo, Steven."

"Haven’t seen you in a few days. How’d you get so round?"

"Brother Asher, slower! I-I think I’m going to throw up!"

"Throw up?"

"You don’t even have a mouth right now."

"I feel like throwing up in my soul!"

At some point, Tiana had found a marker.

She crouched beside the coffee table with an extremely serious expression and began drawing a face on the Steven Egg.

First came two large round eyes.

Then a huge, toothy grin.

"Done!"

"Uncle Steven, you’re now the most perfect Egg in the entire world."

Tiana tucked the marker behind her ear, stepped back twice, and admired her masterpiece.

Elaria tugged gently on Tiana’s sleeve.

"Big Sis Tiana, Uncle Steven is already stuck like this..."

"Maybe we shouldn’t tease him anymore."

Ruri opened her small black suitcase and took out a velvet pouch.

She handed it to Elaria.

"These are a few stones I picked out from Dad’s collection room before I came over."

"See if there’s anything you like."

Elaria quickly waved her hands.

"Thank you, Ruri, but these are too valuable."

"You should take them back."

"It’s fine."

Ruri patted Elaria’s hand.

"There’s a good chance they’ll all belong to me in the future anyway."

"I’m just giving them away a little early."

"You don’t need to feel bad about it."

"Exactly, exactly! As long as I get to see Diancie, every last one of those stones is worth it!"

The Steven Egg bounced three times on the spot—

Then fell flat on its side atop the table.

Ruri covered her face.

"Dad, can you please act like a human being?"

"I’m an Egg right now! How is an Egg supposed to act human?!"

"Just because you’ve temporarily become an Egg doesn’t mean you should forget your dignity as a human being!"

The Steven Egg rolled another half-turn, attempting to reach the Poké Ball hanging at Elaria’s waist.

"Please, Niece Elaria! Let Her Highness Diancie come out for just a moment! I swear I’ll only look!"

"I absolutely won’t do anything that would compromise my dignity!"

Seeing Steven reduced to begging like this, Elaria finally nodded.

She took out a Poké Ball and pressed the button.

A flash of red light—

And Diancie appeared elegantly in the center of the living room.

The instant Diancie appeared, the Steven Egg launched itself off the coffee table with a whoosh.

"YOUR HIGHNESS DIANCIE!! I’ve finally seen you again! Please allow me to express my admiration in the most devout manner—"

Diancie recoiled behind Elaria in alarm.

"Elaria..."

"What’s going on?"

Elaria explained softly.

"Don’t be scared."

"That Egg is Uncle Steven."

"You can just treat him the way you normally would."

Ruri picked up the Steven Egg and placed it inside a temporary "Egg nest" she’d built from sofa cushions.

"Dad. You can watch from there."

"Stay at least two meters away from Her Highness Diancie."

"It’s safer that way."

"Why?!"

"If you keep yelling, I’m taking you home."

The Steven Egg immediately went silent.

...

After a few minor incidents like that—

The seven days passed.

There were less than three hours remaining until Episode Six of the livestream began.

Yet no one in Asher’s household seemed particularly concerned about it.

Because ever since that morning, Tiana’s shoulder bag had been glowing.

Realizing there was no longer any way to hide the fact that she’d "picked up an Egg," Tiana hurriedly explained the entire story in detail to avoid getting hit by a parental Double Battle.

"I swear!"

"I really did sense something incredibly familiar from this Egg!"

"That’s why I brought it home!"

"Elaria can testify for me!"

"You hid it for several days, and only now you’re thinking of confessing?"

Cynthia held her forehead.

Tiana guiltily shrank her neck.

"Well..."

"I was afraid you’d say I was picking up random things again."

"Picking up random things is one problem."

Asher flicked Tiana sharply on the forehead.

"Bringing something home and not telling me is another."

"Ow!"

"That really hurt, Dad..."

"I just wanted to secretly give you a surprise!"

"What if something amazing hatches out of it?"

The instant Tiana finished speaking—

The glow coming from her shoulder bag intensified again.

The entire living room became as bright as day.

When the light finally faded—

A black-haired, red-eyed woman stood expressionlessly in the center of the room.

Misty was the first to react.

She took two steps backward.

"Sabrina?"

"Why is it you?"

Sabrina calmly adjusted her sleeve.

"I lost the wager, so I ended up like that..."

"B-But..."

Misty was completely baffled.

"Don’t you have psychic powers?"

"Why didn’t you just get yourself out?"

Sabrina fell silent for a moment.

Then glanced at Tiana.

"I tried."

"It didn’t work."

"Uh..."

Elesa followed up with another question.

"Then why didn’t you say anything this whole time?"

Sabrina’s voice remained completely flat.

"I don’t know any of you."

"And all of you were together."

"I didn’t know what you were planning."

"What do you mean we don’t know each other? Mom Sabri—"

Tiana had barely opened her mouth before Asher reached from behind and clamped a hand over it.

"Mmph?!"

Tiana’s mismatched eyes widened as her short legs kicked helplessly in midair.

"Tiana’s been eating too many sweets lately."

"Her tooth hurts, so she’s not speaking clearly."

"Don’t take anything she says seriously."

Asher pulled Tiana against his chest and casually grabbed a piece of pudding from the table, stuffing it straight into her mouth.

"Here."

"Have some pudding and soothe your throat."

With her mouth completely stuffed, Tiana could only make muffled protests.

"Mmmph! Mmph!"

Misty and the others were too focused on Sabrina to clearly hear what Tiana had almost said.

Asher quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Of course he knew Sabrina had been his wife in one of his reincarnations.

And judging by what Tiana had almost called her, that life had most likely been featured by the livestream too.

But following the principle that a wise man doesn’t invite trouble when he can avoid it—

Asher decided to bluff his way through for now.

After all, what if Sabrina’s episode wasn’t going to be revealed until much later?

[Ding! Intermission complete. The livestream will now continue!]

[VIP Chat Group]

[Steven]: Finally! After living through both my human life and my Egg life, I’ve finally made it to this moment!

[Wallace]: You’re taking the role way too seriously...

[Diantha]: We’re already on Episode Six. I wonder which sister it’ll be this time.

[Flint]: At this point, Asher could have ten more daughters and I wouldn’t even be surprised. @Asher, why don’t you just tell us already? Guessing all day every day is getting old.

[Volkner]: What’s the point of @-ing him? He’s just going to play dead anyway.

[Flint]: Then I dare you to never @ Asher again.

[Volkner]: Whoever @-s him first is a dog.

[Steven]: Woof.

[Leon]: ?

[Raihan]: Hahahaha! Steven has completely given up on being human.
