Chapter 322: Rise Early, Build Skyscrapers, By Year’s End, We’re Going to the Moon! (Membership Extra Chapter)
The scene changed again.
A few more days seemed to have passed.
Saffron City.
Construction site of the Sun-Moon Group headquarters.
Selene stood atop a raised platform at the construction site, wearing a hard hat that was obviously one size too big.
She held a megaphone in one hand, while behind her stood an entire Pokémon construction crew wearing matching miniature hard hats.
"Attention, all departments!"
"Today’s objective is to finish laying the foundations for the Group headquarters!"
"Remember our slogan—"
She sucked in a deep breath and raised the megaphone as high as she could.
"RISE EARLY, BUILD SKYSCRAPERS—BY YEAR’S END, WE’RE GOING TO THE MOON!"
The workers below simultaneously raised their tools and answered with a deafening roar.
"Good!"
"That’s the spirit!"
Once the construction crew started working, Selene stood beside Aurelia with both hands on her hips, her eyes overflowing with ambition.
"Big Sis, starting today, this place will become the birthplace of the world’s number-one business empire!"
Aurelia stood beside her with her arms folded and softly replied:
"Mm."
She didn’t really understand business.
But as long as her little sister was happy, that was enough.
Selene pulled a thick stack of handwritten business cards from her pocket and shoved half of them into Aurelia’s hands.
"Big Sis, from now on, you’re the Sun-Moon Group’s Number One Brand Ambassador!"
"If you meet a promising major client, hand them one."
"And remember—you need to smile at them."
"That raises the success rate!"
Aurelia looked down at the stack of cards in her hands.
Then she looked at Selene’s expectant expression.
In the end, she nodded.
"I’ll hand them out properly."
"Yay!"
"Big Sis, you’re the best!"
While the sisters were talking, the roar of an engine came from the distance.
A small light-blue truck turned the corner.
Spray-painted across its side in pink letters were the words: XX MOVING COMPANY
The truck gradually slowed before coming to a steady stop outside the Sun-Moon Group construction site.
The doors opened.
Jessie, James, and Meowth jumped out one after another.
Jessie wore light-blue moving-company overalls and a baseball cap.
James carried a stack of cardboard boxes in his arms, while Meowth dragged a huge roll of plastic bubble wrap out from the passenger seat.
"Phew! We finally found another part-time job."
Jessie wiped the sweat from her forehead.
"Working for a moving company is actually pretty exhausting."
James sighed.
"We don’t have a choice."
"After our last plan to capture Pikachu failed, we blew through the entire budget again."
Meowth rubbed his stomach with one paw.
"I haven’t had dried fish in two whole days, meowth..."
"We gotta hurry up and finish this job..."
Selene’s eyes instantly lit up.
She hurried over in a few quick steps, pulled a business card from her pocket, and expertly slipped it into Jessie’s hand.
"Hello!"
"I’m Selene, founder of the Sun-Moon Group!"
"Our company is currently recruiting long-term business partners."
"How about buying a share?"
"Think of it as making a new friend!"
Jessie looked down at the business card in her hand.
Then she looked back up at Selene.
"Invest?"
"But we don’t have any money."
Selene smiled brightly.
"Money isn’t important!"
"What’s important is that I think the three of you are extremely promising, rare talents who would be perfect for our Group!"
Meowth’s eyes darted around.
"How much are ya paying, meowth?"
"Salary is easy!"
Selene pulled a little notebook from her schoolbag, scribbled a few lines, tore out the page, and handed it to Meowth.
"Here!"
"This is a temporary employment contract for the Sun-Moon Group."
"One thousand League Coins per hour, with lunch included."
Meowth’s paws trembled as he accepted it.
"O-One thousand League Coins?!"
"And lunch is included, meowth?!"
Jessie snatched the contract out of his paws.
"If all three of us work, do we each get one thousand an hour?"
Selene rubbed her chin with a serious expression.
"Hmm..."
"How about this?"
"For all three of you together, I’ll offer a package rate of four thousand per hour."
"What do you think?"
James immediately snapped to attention.
"Boss!"
"Please hire us!"
Jessie and Meowth also instantly stood ramrod straight.
"PLEASE HIRE US!"
"Please hire us, meowth!"
[VIP Chat Group]
[Cassidy]: Aha! I knew it! You three really did betray Team Rocket! I’m telling the Boss right now! Just wait for your punishment! Hahahaha!
[Jessie]: Stop talking nonsense! Which one of your eyes saw us betray the Boss?!
[James]: Exactly! We’re just working part-time! Our hearts still belong to Team Rocket!
[May]: But I don’t really understand this. Selene actually thinks those three are special talents? I thought they were just idiots who refuse to give up on Pikachu.
[Dawn]: Hmm... Other than being unbelievably persistent, I can’t really think of any strengths Team Rocket has either.
[Brock]: At least they work pretty hard whenever they take a job. And with benefits this good, they’ll probably take the work seriously.
[Meowth]: Of course! We’re extremely responsible workers, meowth!
[Jessie]: Idiot! These little brats are obviously looking down on us!
[James]: It’s fine. Once we’ve paid off what we owe, we’ll finally be able to come up with a new battle plan!
[Pikachu]: Pika, pika... (Then you should just keep working overtime forever.)
The video continued playing.
After signing their temporary employment contracts, the Team Rocket trio threw themselves into construction of the Sun-Moon Group headquarters with almost terrifying enthusiasm.
The first job Selene assigned them was dismantling a pile of abandoned steel frames on the western side of the construction site.
"That’s it?"
Jessie grabbed a wrench without hesitation.
"Who are you looking down on?!"
Ten minutes later—
The abandoned steel frames had been completely dismantled and stacked in perfect order.
Jessie had even sorted every piece by size.
Selene stood beside them applauding nonstop.
"You’re amazing!"
"I knew I hadn’t misjudged you!"
"Naturally."
James brushed back his bangs.
"After all, we are Team Rocket, blasting off across the galaxy—"
BONK!
Jessie smacked the back of James’s head with her wrench.
"We’re a professional, all-purpose moving team!"
"Disassembly, transportation, maintenance—we can do anything!"
Selene pulled a brand-new blueprint out of her schoolbag and slapped it down in front of the trio.
"Then can you build this?"
The blueprint showed a bizarre mechanical device.
Both its components and assembly method looked extraordinarily complicated.
James crouched down and studied it for a long time.
"This..."
"Doesn’t this look a little like a simplified Dynamax Energy conversion device?"
Selene blinked.
"You actually recognize it?"
"Of course!"
Meowth patted his chest proudly.
"We could build a little toy like this with our eyes closed, meowth!"
"Then how about this!"
Selene smacked one fist into her palm.
"If you can build ten of these this month, I’ll give you a ten-percent share of the profits from every unit!"
The Team Rocket trio’s eyes instantly turned into gold coins.
"LEAVE IT TO US!"
"We’ll have a prototype ready for you within three days, meowth!"
Selene raised another finger.
"Also!"
"If the quality is good, each of you gets an additional bonus of ten thousand League Coins—plus an exclusive Sun-Moon Group employee deluxe snack package!"
The trio immediately snapped to attention in perfect unison.
"THE BOSS IS WISE!"
"THE BOSS IS GENEROUS!"
"THE BOSS IS MIGHTY, MEOWTH!"
...
TL: Jessie, James and Meowth lowkey a genius fr.
