Chapter 350: Lance Isn’t Bad, The Enemy Is Just Fully Hacked (Membership Extra Chapter)

The video continued playing.

Indigo Plateau, Pokémon League Conference venue.

With all three Elite Four battles concluded, only Kanto’s final line of defense remained.

When Lance walked out from the passage, his cape billowed sharply behind him.

"Trainer Aurelia."

Lance’s voice was steady and composed.

"Your performance has been outstanding."

"But the seat of League Champion isn’t something you can claim so easily."

Aurelia gave a small nod, her heterochromatic eyes perfectly calm.

"Yes."

"Please take care of me, Elite Four Lance."

The two threw out their Poké Balls simultaneously.

Red light flashed.

A Red Gyarados appeared in the center of the battlefield.

Its roar shook the surrounding glass until it hummed.

On Aurelia’s side—Ninetales elegantly swished its nine tails and lazily yawned.

Lance gave the first command.

"Gyarados, Dragon Dance!"

Gyarados roared.

Then it began twisting through an ancient, mysterious dance.

Its aura surged instantly.

Aurelia frowned slightly.

She had studied footage of Lance’s battles and knew that Dragon Dance was usually followed by an immediate high-speed assault.

"Ninetales, defend with Extrasensory."

Blue light flashed in Ninetales’s eyes.

An invisible psychic barrier formed in front of it like a transparent wall.

Just as expected—

The moment Gyarados finished Dragon Dance, it charged.

Its tail, wrapped in highly pressurized water, slashed straight through the psychic barrier and shattered it into pieces.

Faced with Lance’s rapid offensive tempo, Aurelia refused to back down.

"Ninetales, use Sacred Fire!"

All nine of Ninetales’s tails rose simultaneously.

Gold-and-crimson flames gathered overhead—gradually taking the shape of Ho-Oh.

But this was exactly what Lance had been waiting for.

"Gyarados, Hydro Pump!"

Red Gyarados opened its mouth.

A massive jet of water struck precisely where Ninetales was gathering its flames.

Water and fire collided.

Steam exploded outward.

The phantom of Ho-Oh was forcibly interrupted before it could fully form.

Ninetales took the burst of steam directly to the face and coughed as it shook its head.

"Ninetales!"

Aurelia’s pupils contracted slightly.

Lance gave her no opportunity to recover.

"Gyarados, keep suppressing it with Hydro Pump!"

"Don’t give it any chance to charge up!"

Gyarados fired Hydro Pump again and again.

Ninetales was forced to dodge across the entire battlefield.

Every time gold-and-crimson flames began to appear they were immediately extinguished.

Again.

And again.

"Ninetales, lift yourself with Extrasensory!"

Blue light flashed in Ninetales’s eyes.

Psychic power lifted its body high into the air, finally carrying it beyond Gyarados’s attack range.

Lance immediately responded.

"Gyarados, Dragon Dance into Dragon Rush!"

Gyarados performed another Dragon Dance.

Then purple Dragon-type energy engulfed its entire body as it shot into the sky after Ninetales.

Aurelia knew she couldn’t drag this out any longer.

Her right hand clenched sharply.

"Ninetales!"

"Full-power Sacred Fire!"

Ninetales flipped in midair.

All nine tails rose.

Gold-and-crimson flames gathered frantically as the phantom of Ho-Oh took shape overhead—

But Gyarados was already upon it.

"Gyarados!"

"CHARGE STRAIGHT THROUGH!!!"

Gyarados roared and slammed directly into the Ho-Oh phantom.

Golden fire and purple energy exploded simultaneously.

The immense cloud of smoke generated by the collision instantly swallowed the entire battlefield.

The spectators in the front rows were blasted directly by the smoke, leaving their faces covered in soot.

When the smoke finally cleared—

Ninetales and Gyarados were both lying motionless in the center of the field.

The referee stared blankly for several seconds before finally remembering to raise his flags.

"Ninetales and Gyarados are both unable to battle!"

[VIP Chat Group]

[Flint]: Lance’s Gyarados actually managed to take Ninetales down with it?! That’s absolutely worth it!

[Sidney]: More than worth it. That’s an enormous profit! That Ninetales can manifest a phantom of Ho-Oh! I suggest Lance frame this footage and hang it in his office with the title: "I Once Traded One-for-One with a God."

[Karen]: But even after that, Lance still can’t win, can he? Ninetales isn’t even Aurelia’s strongest Pokémon.

[Bruno]: SO WHAT?! AT LEAST LANCE DIDN’T GET SWEPT! THIS IS THE LAST SHRED OF DIGNITY LEFT FOR THE KANTO LEAGUE!

[Koga]: I think Bruno has a point. It’s not that Lance lacks skill. The enemy is just fully hacked.

[Karen]: Lance showed spirit. Lance showed skill. Lance simply couldn’t win.

[Steven]:@Lance, you’ve already done very well. At least you forced Aurelia to use her second Pokémon. That’s already far better than the previous three.

[Lance]: ...

The video continued playing.

Aurelia and Lance simultaneously took out their second Poké Balls and threw them.

Red light flashed.

Latios and Hydreigon appeared in the center of the battlefield.

Lance frowned.

"...You’re already sending out your strongest ace?"

Aurelia froze.

"Huh?"

"Fine."

"Then let me experience your full strength."

"Hydreigon, Dragon Rush!"

Purple Dragon-type energy wrapped around Hydreigon.

All three heads roared in unison as it charged straight toward Latios.

Aurelia quickly recovered.

"Latios, Luster Purge!"

A milky-white sphere of light gathered in front of Latios’s mouth.

Then it fired forward.

Luster Purge collided head-on with Dragon Rush.

The blast wave from the explosion swept every loose stone on the battlefield into the air.

The moment Hydreigon stabilized itself, Lance immediately followed up.

"Use Nasty Plot, then Dark Pulse!"

All three of Hydreigon’s heads twisted into sinister grins.

Dark-purple energy surged around its body as its Special Attack rose sharply.

Immediately afterward—

All three mouths opened at once.

Three dark-purple waves of energy merged in midair into one enormous black beam and shot straight toward Latios.

Dark-type moves were already super effective against Psychic types.

Combined with the boost from Nasty Plot there was no way Aurelia was willing to take this attack head-on.

"Latios, dodge! Then counter with Dragon Pulse!"

Latios shot upward like a fighter jet performing a vertical takeoff.

Dark Pulse skimmed past its tail and carved a deep trench through the ground.

Latios flipped in midair.

Then Dragon Pulse erupted from its mouth toward Hydreigon.

"Protect!"

Hydreigon pulled all three heads inward.

A green barrier appeared before it.

Dragon Pulse struck the shield and exploded into countless fragments of light.

But Aurelia didn’t give it time to react.

"Latios!"

"Draco Meteor!"

Latios abruptly raised its head.

An enormous sphere of orange energy formed in its mouth and shot high into the sky.

Then—

Dozens of meteors came crashing down from every direction, long fiery tails trailing behind them as they converged on Hydreigon.

Lance’s pupils contracted.

"Hydreigon!"

"Intercept them with Dark Pulse!"

All three of Hydreigon’s heads frantically fired black waves of energy.

But there were too many meteors.

Their angles were too unpredictable.

Hydreigon managed to destroy the first few but the remaining meteors slammed directly into its body.

Explosions and smoke instantly engulfed half the battlefield.

When the smoke cleared—

Hydreigon was sprawled on the ground.

All three of its heads hung limp.

"Hydreigon is unable to battle!"

Lance calmly recalled Hydreigon, his expression suggesting that everything was still proceeding according to plan.

He reached for Dragonite’s Poké Ball at his waist.

Then threw it.

Red light flashed.

The instant Dragonite appeared—it struck a bodybuilding pose.

Its chest puffed out together with its wings.

It even shot a confident look toward the audience, as though saying: Watch closely. This Latios is mine.

The audience erupted.

"OOOOOH! ELITE FOUR LANCE’S DRAGONITE LOOKS INCREDIBLE!"

"AS EXPECTED OF LANCE’S FINAL LINE OF DEFENSE!"

"SO COOL!"
