Chapter 410: Duel with Drake (Part 2)

As the Dragon Breath missed, Drake commanded again: "Altaria, use Aerial Ace."

"Sceptile, use the mast to dodge," Ash said calmly.

Upon hearing the command, Sceptile leaped back and forth around the sailboat’s mast. Altaria hovered in the sky, its eyes tracking Sceptile’s movements, with Aerial Ace ready to strike.

Ash watched the two Pokémon in the standoff, a faint blue light flashing in his eyes.

A few seconds later, as if Sceptile had revealed an opening just as it was about to pass the main mast, Altaria moved, its figure flashing as it appeared behind Sceptile.

Just as it was about to collide, Sceptile flashed a wicked smile, blue-green light glowing on its hands as it clawed at Altaria.

Dragon Claw!

Deliberately exposing a flaw to lure the enemy into making a mistake—this was the information Ash had conveyed via Aura.

Hit by the Dragon Claw, Altaria instantly lost its balance and fell from the sky.

Drake frowned slightly and shouted: "Altaria, steady yourself!"

The falling Altaria, hearing the command, forced itself to recover, slightly adjusting its landing posture to mitigate the fall damage, so it did not lose its ability to battle just yet.

"Altaria, Solar Beam."

Having recovered, Altaria flew back into mid-air, distancing itself from Sceptile to accumulate solar energy.

Just as Altaria finished charging, Ash called out: "Sceptile, use Leaf Storm!"

The Solar Beam and Leaf Storm collided. Seeing that Altaria’s offensive was about to be broken, Drake spoke again: "Brave Bird!"

Altaria interrupted the Solar Beam and dived toward Sceptile. This sudden change in tactics caught Sceptile off guard, and it took a solid hit.

Sceptile’s reaction was also quite fast; halfway through its fall, it hurriedly reached out to grab the netting on the mast.

"As expected of the guy known as the strongest rookie in history, this training ability is simply monstrous," Drake thought to himself.

"Altaria, Moonblast."

"Sceptile, use your final Leaf Blade attack."

The two issued their final commands simultaneously.

As Altaria’s Moonblast struck Sceptile, Sceptile’s dual Leaf Blade swords also slashed into it.

Both Pokémon, having been hit at the same time, fell toward the deck.

This exchange of blows did not exceed Ash’s expectations; after all, his Sceptile was at a disadvantage in terms of typing and was also inferior in level. Being able to trade hits was already a huge profit.

The two simultaneously recalled their respective Pokémon.

"Ash, your strength is truly formidable. I wonder how you plan to deal with this next one? Go, Flygon!"

[Pokémon: Flygon]

[Type: Ground + Dragon]

[Gender: Female]

[Level: Elite High-tier]

[Ability: Levitate (Floats above the ground, thus avoiding Ground-type moves)]

[Potential: Elite]

[Skills: Dragon Claw, Sand Attack, Dragon Breath, Dragon Dance, Crunch...]

"A ground-dragon, huh? Alright, I choose you, Jigglypuff!"

Ash tossed out one of his main Pokémon for the Grand Festival.

"Using Jigglypuff against Flygon, isn’t that too risky?" May asked, worried as she watched.

"It shouldn’t be. In terms of typing, Jigglypuff has a greater advantage," Brock said.

"Fairy-type, is it?" Drake’s expression turned serious, and he shouted first: "Flygon, use Stone Edge."

"Jigglypuff, use Dazzling Gleam!"

A dozen sharp rocks shot toward Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff took a deep breath and released a brilliant light, blocking all the incoming stones.

"Very good, Jigglypuff. Next, use Draining Kiss!"

"Flygon, use Earth Power."

Jigglypuff condensed several pale pink lip prints with Fairy-type energy and struck at Flygon. Flygon did not dodge or evade, releasing Earth Power to counterattack.

This round of collisions resulted in mutual damage, but overall, Ash held a slight upper hand, as Draining Kiss possessed a certain recovery ability.

"Flygon, use Double-Edge!"

Jigglypuff possessed the Fairy-type, which naturally countered Dragon-type Pokémon. Drake didn’t dare to use any of his Dragon-type moves.

Flygon dived toward Jigglypuff at an extremely high speed.

"Jigglypuff, use Reflect."

Jigglypuff erected a transparent wall. After Flygon hit the wall and paused for a few seconds, Jigglypuff took a deep breath and exhaled, using its balloon-like structure to successfully ride onto Flygon’s back.

"Alright, Jigglypuff, now sing to your heart’s content."

There was almost no Pokémon that could stubbornly listen to Jigglypuff’s singing all the way through. Flygon showed its high-quality sleeping ability after listening for only a few seconds.

Once asleep, Flygon became Jigglypuff’s toy. It was first painted with a big face by Jigglypuff with a marker, and then its stamina was drained to zero by Draining Kiss.

Drake recalled Flygon and muttered in a low voice: "You’ve worked hard, Flygon. This kid is really a freak of a junior!"

"Jigglypuff, come back."

Ash also recalled Jigglypuff.

"Ash, my last one is this. Go, Salamence!"

Drake threw out his last Pokémon.

[Pokémon: Salamence]

[Type: Dragon + Flying]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: Champion Mid-tier]

[Ability: Intimidate (Intimidates opponents upon entry, causing them to flinch and lowering the opponent’s Attack)]

[Potential: Champion]

[Skills: Roost, Dragon Breath, Dragon Tail, Dragon Claw, Draco Meteor, Dragon Dance, Flamethrower...]

This is... finally bringing out the main force, huh?

Ash glanced at Salamence’s level. Since that was the case, he reached out and took out the Z-Power Ring to wear on his hand. "Pikachu, I choose you!"

"Pika!"

Pikachu glanced at the ring Ash took out and immediately understood that it couldn’t hold back in this match.

Z-Moves: Ash had tested them with Pikachu, Eevee, and the others when he first obtained the ring and the exclusive Z-Crystal.

"That is..."

Drake’s pupils constricted when he saw the ring Ash took out.

As a sailor with decades of sailing experience, Drake had been to many places, and that included the Alola region.

Ash shouted: "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt."

"Salamence, use Dragon Dance to dodge!"

Pikachu released three consecutive Thunderbolts to greet Salamence, while Salamence twisted its body to skillfully dodge using Dragon Dance.

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack."

"Salamence, use Headbutt!"

Pikachu wrapped electricity around its body to form armor, then launched itself forward to collide head-on with Salamence. Salamence seized the moment and rammed back with its hard skull.

Boom!

Pikachu and Salamence gritted their teeth and put all their strength into the struggle, with neither side giving an inch.

"Salamence, use Dragon Claw!"

"Pikachu, use Iron Tail."

Boom!

Dragon Claw and Iron Tail collided, and the two sides remained evenly matched.

It was May’s first time seeing Pikachu use its ’full power’. "So Pikachu’s strength is this high!"

"Pikachu is Ash’s first Pokémon and has been with him for many years. Its strength can be said to be unfathomable," Brock explained.

He had witnessed scenes where Ash’s Pikachu had sparred with Legendary Pokémon without falling behind, let alone the current Salamence, which was only a Champion-level Pokémon.

Moreover, Brock also noticed that when Ash sent Pikachu out, he took out a strange ring and put it on. That must be his secret weapon!
