Pokémon: Starting From Zero as a Legendary Pokémon
Chapter 139: Galarian Cuisine — If You Know, You Know
Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Galarian Cuisine — If You Know, You Know
"Ah, that’s wonderful."
Diantha clasped her hands together.
The chance to spend time with Magearna had the Kalos Champion genuinely excited.
After all, nearly every female Trainer born in Kalos had grown up hearing bedtime stories about Magearna.
The problem was that the stories varied wildly.
There had never been a definitive image of Magearna.
The only historical reference was a portrait of the princess from the ancient tale.
Once books, movies, and other media adapted the story, dozens—if not hundreds—of different interpretations naturally appeared.
The reason Diantha recognized Magearna immediately was because she was a Trainer.
Without sufficient experience and knowledge, it would be impossible to eliminate all known Pokémon species and conclude that Magearna was a legendary Pokémon rather than some newly discovered species from an unknown region.
"Hm?"
Just as Diantha was about to take Magearna’s hand and finally interact with her favorite childhood Pokémon—a small green figure suddenly caught her eye.
"What Pokémon is that?"
Diantha had already found Magearna’s presence astonishing.
Sora seemed like an incredibly mysterious Trainer.
Yet now there was another one?
"She is...?"
Diantha searched through every memory she possessed.
Nothing matched Ogerpon.
For a moment, she even wondered whether Ogerpon was actually a human child dressed up as a Pokémon.
"Ponii?"
When Ogerpon noticed Diantha looking at her, she immediately hid behind Sora.
Only a tiny portion of her head peeked out as she cautiously observed the Champion.
"Haha, don’t be afraid."
Sora gently reassured her.
"This is Miss Diantha, the Champion of Kalos."
No matter how strong she became—
Ogerpon’s fear of strangers never seemed to improve.
The little Pokémon was simply too kind.
Without Sora nearby, she would instinctively hide whenever she encountered humans.
As long as nobody threatened her, even though she possessed enough strength to smash apart a mountain with a single strike, she would still live carefully and quietly.
Sora found it both amusing and helpless.
Though a clingy Ogerpon really is adorable.
Meanwhile—
Diantha carefully examined Ogerpon.
Her pupils trembled slightly.
"S-So strong."
"Eh?"
Only after speaking did Diantha realize what she had just said.
Yet the intuition of a Champion-level Trainer was screaming at her.
The tiny Pokémon standing before her—the one who looked as though a strong breeze might blow her away—possessed terrifying power.
They had never battled.
The outcome was unknown.
But Diantha’s experience told her one thing:
This Pokémon was absolutely not weaker than her own ace.
"Is she also your Pokémon, Mr. Sora?"
"Please forgive my ignorance."
"I don’t know what species she is."
"Why have I never heard of her before?"
"This child is called Ogerpon."
Sora replied, "I met her in a remote mountain village called Kitakami."
"Kitakami..."
Unfortunately, Diantha had never heard of it.
"Is she a Pokémon unique to that region?"
No.
It couldn’t be that simple.
Diantha had a feeling.
The adorable little Pokémon before her was similar to Magearna.
In other words...
She looked toward Sora with shock.
Two legendary Pokémon!
"Why don’t we find somewhere to sit?"
Sora glanced around.
"If we keep standing here, it might attract too much attention."
"Ah, sorry."
"I’ve caused you trouble."
Diantha apologized immediately.
The two then moved to the ship’s lounge bar.
After ordering drinks and renting a private room, they sat down and resumed their conversation.
"To be recognized by both Ogerpon and Magearna..."
"Mr. Sora must be an extraordinary Trainer."
"You flatter me."
Sora took a sip from the drink before him.
Diantha had chosen it for him.
To be honest, he wasn’t much of a drinker.
Since arriving in this world, he hadn’t touched alcohol at all.
Back on Earth, he often drank for business obligations.
But after coming to the Pokémon world, most of the people around him were teenagers.
Sharing drinks with someone like Diantha was a first.
"I actually haven’t been traveling for very long."
"Before this, I lived in Eindoak."
"Eindoak?"
Most Trainers might not immediately recognize the place.
Even if they did, they’d only know it vaguely.
Diantha was different.
She wasn’t just a Trainer.
She was a world-famous actress.
Many Pokémon films involved myths and legends.
Among them, stories connected to mythology were especially common.
"The Black Dragon and the White Dragon."
"The Hero of Truth and Ideals."
"And..."
Diantha smiled.
"The Legend of Victini, the Victory Star."
"Miss Diantha is impressively knowledgeable."
"That’s right."
"I came to Kalos from Unova."
Then Sora added:
"But I’ve already decided to settle down in Kalos."
"Really?"
While the Pokémon world didn’t have regional prejudice, Trainers from the same region naturally found common ground more easily.
Diantha was no exception.
Hearing that Sora intended to stay in Kalos made her visibly happier.
The atmosphere between them grew noticeably warmer.
That’s quite a reaction.
Sora was secretly surprised.
Choosing a region actually grants relationship bonuses?
Then again—what about Cynthia?
If he had known regional loyalty gave this much goodwill, maybe choosing Sinnoh wouldn’t have been so bad...
No.
Forget that.
Sinnoh was far too dangerous.
Dialga.
Palkia.
Arceus’s avatars.
All sorts of monsters and cosmic horrors.
Sora genuinely didn’t think he could handle that.
The better solution was obvious:
Find a chance to lure Cynthia to Kalos and recruit her as his housekeeper.
"Kalos won’t disappoint you, Mr. Sora."
Diantha genuinely loved her homeland.
And she sincerely believed Kalos was superior to most regions.
"Especially Galar."
"Honestly, I’m worried whether you’ll adapt to the food there."
"Is Galarian cuisine really that bad?"
"How should I put it..."
Diantha looked a little embarrassed.
She didn’t want to speak badly about another region.
Unfortunately, facts were facts.
"In my opinion..."
She hesitated before continuing:
"It’s not exactly bad."
"It’s more that it’s... difficult to accept."
