Chapter 217: Chapter 217: The New Strongest Champion, Cynthia

"So, so strong."

"Master, and Sister Cynthia too! They’re both incredibly strong!"

This wasn’t Korrina’s first time watching the two of them battle.

Yet no matter how many times she saw them fight, she couldn’t suppress the burning excitement in her heart. She almost wished she were the one battling them!

"It’s too early to get excited."

Emma had Meowstic put up a Psychic barrier, making the two of them feel much better. She continued, "Neither side has gone all out yet. They’re just warming up."

Although the girl’s own strength was still weak, their travels had greatly broadened her horizons.

Just like now, Emma could already objectively comment on some of the more impressive exchanges between the two.

These few simple moves might not look like much.

But the hidden exchanges between them were countless, far beyond what the girls could imagine.

"Crack!!"

On the battlefield, a tiny crack appeared in the pink shield blocking Dragon Rush.

Then the crack began to spread.

With a crisp crack, the first Floral Shield shattered.

Yes, the first one.

As a defensive technique capable of rivaling Fleur Cannon in its offensive form, Floral Shield consisted of seven layers of petals.

Breaking just one petal had barely scratched the surface of Magearna’s defenses.

"Is that all?"

Cynthia complained for what seemed like the umpteenth time about Magearna’s absurdity.

"At least break another one!"

"Crack!"

Unfortunately, no matter how much energy Garchomp drew upon, the second shield remained firmly in place, producing an ear-piercing sizzling sound.

She’s so tiny, yet the amount of energy inside her is absurd.

Cynthia sighed inwardly.

She had already chosen her timing exceptionally well. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have ordered Garchomp to use Dragon Rush.

The difference in their levels was at least five levels.

Yet when it came to raw strength, Garchomp had never once managed to overpower one of Sora’s Legendary Pokémon.

This wasn’t surprising.

Garchomp was level 89, which was indeed extremely high.

But the advantage of Legendary Pokémon lay in their seemingly bottomless energy reserves.

Magearna had now reached level 84.

But that number represented her energy intensity, not the amount of energy stored within her body.

Energy reserves were extremely difficult to quantify.

The Pokémon levels Sora had established generally only accounted for energy quality and maximum output.

"First the glaciers, and now this Floral Shield."

Emma said, "I’ve never heard of techniques like these."

"The same Divine Techniques that Master taught us. Magearna has developed them to an extremely advanced level as well."

Korrina explained to Emma, "Magearna can store energy in advance, turning techniques into ammunition and storing them inside her body."

In other words, Magearna’s instantaneous output was indeed inferior to Cynthia’s Garchomp.

But the energy she had invested into those glaciers and the shields was far greater than anything Garchomp could produce.

To put it bluntly:

Do you know how much energy each layer of this Floral Shield consumes?

Even if a single layer contained the equivalent of all the energy possessed by an ordinary level-84 Pokémon, there were still seven layers!

No matter how large the MP gap between level 89 and level 84 was, it couldn’t possibly be seven times greater.

And Magearna had practically never stopped preparing her stored techniques.

Aside from Sora, nobody knew how many trump cards Magearna had prepared.

That was precisely why Sora’s Magearna could stand alongside the numerical monster Ogerpon, whose stats were practically cheating, and Volcanion, who possessed overpowered Divine Techniques.

"Terastallize—no. Dynamax, Garchomp."

"Shaaark!!"

Garchomp dodged several Flash Cannons from Magearna.

When she heard her Trainer’s call, she immediately focused her mind.

"Roar!!"

Dark-red clouds of energy began to emerge around her.

The sky changed.

What had originally been a clear blue sky became oppressive and gloomy, as though a dark cloud had descended over this small world to celebrate the transformation of a powerful Pokémon!

"Boom!!"

The immense power made Garchomp feel as though she could do anything.

Her body remained the same size; she did not become gigantic through Dynamaxization.

Instead, she rapidly took control of the surging energy, using her Hall-level secret technique to completely dominate it.

At this moment, Garchomp’s body was covered in a layer of dark red energy.

Her aura and energy fluctuations were already infinitely close to the level-90 threshold.

She could break through at any moment.

"Now! Smash it apart, Garchomp!"

"SHAAR!"

This was the third time Cynthia had allowed Garchomp to enter her Demonic Form.

And according to what Cynthia could sense...

This was the moment Garchomp would break through!

"BOOM!!!"

In the next instant, even more terrifying energy surged from within Garchomp.

This pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, Cynthia’s ace who had accompanied her since childhood, finally broke through the restraints after Dynamaxization and the refinement of her energy.

She had truly opened the gate that ordinary Pokémon faced on their path toward the divine realm.

Level 90!

From this moment onward, Garchomp had truly become a Demigod Pokémon.

Here, "Demigod" did not refer to pseudo-Legendary Pokémon such as Dragonite or Tyranitar simply because of their high base stats.

It referred to an existence that had acquired divinity despite possessing no divine bloodline, ascending into the realm of the gods.

Such beings would possess virtually limitless lifespans and energy reserves as profound as those of Legendary Pokémon.

Aside from being unable to control certain Laws like true divine Pokémon, they were practically no different from genuine god-tier Pokémon.

"She broke through?"

Sora was genuinely happy for Cynthia.

At the same time, he could truly feel the pressure coming from Garchomp.

The tables had turned.

Her enormous energy reserves were no longer Magearna’s advantage.

Because Garchomp could now fight Magearna for an entire day as well.

Unless Magearna could overwhelm her with absolute power and knock her out, the balance of victory would gradually tip toward Cynthia.

A level-90 non-Legendary Pokémon that lost consciousness in battle could recover naturally just like a Legendary Pokémon.

Perhaps this was the ultimate limit of ordinary Pokémon.

They ultimately fell a little short of Legendary Pokémon in terms of potential.

"You’re still not going to let Magearna use her full power?"

"At this rate, Magearna really is going to lose."

Garchomp’s breakthrough gave Cynthia unprecedented confidence.

This was level 90.

The difference between level 89 and level 90 was like crossing an entirely different dimension.

Once a Pokémon reached level 90, every additional level represented another qualitative leap.

Not to mention that Magearna hadn’t even reached level 89.

Purely in terms of numerical strength, Garchomp had clearly surpassed Magearna and moved ahead of her.

Dynamaxization?

Even Dynamaxization wasn’t enough!

Even if Magearna entered her own Demonic Form, it wouldn’t change the gap between them.

You can transform.

So can I.

The chasm between level 90 and level 84 would still remain.
