Chapter 219: Chapter 219: The Galar League: Some Outsider Beggar

"Yes. I’ll have the League help search for the relevant items."

"If we really can’t find them, I’ll personally make a trip to Kalos."

After seeing that even Magearna could Mega Evolve, Cynthia was even more eager to see her own Pokémon undergo such a transformation.

There had been tremendous gains from this battle as well.

Garchomp had broken through and reached the demigod realm at level 90. Her strength had undergone a complete transformation.

Magearna had improved as well, rising from level 84 to level 85.

This showed that actual combat really was the best way to improve a Pokémon’s strength.

"Master!"

"Ogerpon, Ogerpon~~"

The battle was over, and the girls and Pokémon hurried over to join the two.

Ogerpon was extremely envious, wishing that Sora would come up with a way for her to undergo the same transformation.

"Let’s clean this place up."

Sora reassured the Pokémon, then looked around at the blasted lakeside wilderness.

"King of Bountiful Harvests, I’ll leave this to you."

"Very well."

Calyrex raised a hand.

With its power of abundance working together with Psychic power, the devastated earth rapidly regained its vitality.

It had to be said—having Calyrex around was simply too convenient.

It was ridiculously versatile.

"Human Trainers have become so powerful."

"And human technology... I never imagined that in only a few hundred years, it would have developed to this extent."

Zacian and Zamazenta had watched the entire battle.

They couldn’t help feeling fortunate that they had agreed to leave the forest with Sora.

Otherwise, they really would have been left behind by the times.

"Whether it’s Sora or Cynthia, they’re both humans standing at the pinnacle of the world."

"I wonder what level that Leon they keep mentioning has reached."

Unfortunately, the two Kings didn’t know just how incredible Cynthia’s achievement had been.

Allowing an ordinary Pokémon to enter the divine realm—in the current era, they suspected only Cynthia had accomplished such a feat.

Leon was extremely strong.

But even his Charizard was firmly stuck at level 89.

Without divinity, Charizard would never be able to break through the level-90 bottleneck in its lifetime. It could only rely on Mega Evolution and Dynamaxization to enhance its combat power by other means.

Garchomp, by comparison, had broken through her shackles and once again gained room for further growth.

At least until she reached level 95, Garchomp wouldn’t encounter another bottleneck.

"This is the hero I chose~~"

Calyrex was extremely proud.

Sora’s excellence made it feel honored as well.

"Indeed, Your Majesty."

"Your vision remains as sharp as ever."

"Naturally!"

Leaving the three Legendary Pokémon to compliment one another, Sora and Cynthia treated their respective Pokémon’s injuries, bringing this stage of their training to a complete end.

"The match has already been scheduled for you."

"Hammerlocke City. Kabu."

"The Fire-type Stadium’s Leader, Kabu, is at Elite Four level, though only just. He’s perfect for you to use as the first shot in your challenge against Galar."

"The match is tomorrow afternoon."

Cynthia added, "It’s an official public match."

"A public match?"

Sora was somewhat surprised.

He remembered telling Cynthia that he didn’t care whether the matches were public or private.

In Sora’s opinion, a private spar would obviously be better than a public match.

"Chairman Rose already knows about your challenge."

"Heh..."

Sora immediately understood.

"If it’s him, then that isn’t surprising."

Given Chairman Rose’s personality, how could he possibly swallow his pride after hearing that some outsider had come to challenge the Galar League?

He had probably placed considerable pressure on the Gym Leaders beneath him.

This battle had to be won.

Absolutely no losing!

They couldn’t possibly let some outsider look down on Galar’s Trainers!

"Though it’s unfortunate..."

Sora said, "I won’t be holding back."

Kabu had essentially walked straight into Sora’s line of fire.

"Let’s go."

After packing everything up, Sora led the girls across the final stretch of the Wild Area, passing the eastern shore of Axewell Lake before arriving in Hammerlocke City.

What Sora hadn’t expected, however, was that events would develop far beyond his expectations.

Cynthia hadn’t expected it either.

What should have been an ordinary spar had somehow caused such an enormous commotion.

"Ring, ring~~"

That evening, after checking into the largest hotel in Hammerlocke City, Sora began receiving calls from numerous acquaintances.

The first were Himiya and Flamel.

"Sora, is it true that you’ve declared war on Galar?"

The moment Himiya appeared on the screen, she immediately asked about the explosive news.

"Huh?"

Even Sora was stunned.

"What?"

"You don’t know?"

"The entire Galar League’s official website is going crazy right now."

Seeing how calm Sora was, Himiya had assumed he was completely confident of victory.

She hadn’t expected him to have no idea what was happening.

"Wait. Let me take a look."

Sora genuinely didn’t know.

He opened the Galar League’s official website.

And the moment he saw it, he was dumbfounded.

Damn.

Rose really dared to say anything.

"Declaring War on the Entire Galar League—Sinnoh’s Secret Weapon?"

"Cynthia Joins Forces with Him—Another Test for Leon?"

"Traditional Trainers vs. Galar’s New Era!"

"Let the World Witness Galar After the Reforms!"

"After the Strongest Champion Comes the Strongest Region!"

All kinds of headlines filled Sora’s screen.

Some were hyping up a supposed Sinnoh invasion of Galar.

Others compared the combat power of the two regions.

Some even dug into Sora’s previous battle records.

But most of all, there was resentment and hostility toward the outsider.

Some outsider beggar dares to come to Galar and leech off our popularity?

If you want handouts, fine.

But you’re making such a big show of it? Aren’t you afraid of getting humiliated?

Galar has the world’s strongest Champion at the top and the strongest Gym Leaders below. What does your Sinnoh have that gives you the nerve to challenge us?

Even the Gym Leaders who had learned about the matter began making public statements.

Raihan was by far the most aggressive.

He openly challenged Cynthia, saying that they should stop playing these games and have her come fight him personally.

Fortunately, Cynthia had a good temper.

Otherwise, with her current strength, a single Garchomp could probably tear through Raihan’s entire team and teach him a lesson.

"...Rose."

There was no doubt that someone was deliberately fanning the flames behind the scenes.

Sora had indeed intended to use Galar’s strongest Trainers as stepping stones to establish his reputation.

But what he had proposed was a series of private spars.

Something along the lines of:

Our victories and defeats stay within the Trainer community.

But Rose had turned it into something completely different.

He had taken it public.

A single public match would draw hundreds of thousands of spectators at the stadium and millions of viewers across Galar.

This was no joke.

If Sora lost, the pressure he would face would be unimaginable.

Being forced to retire from the competitive scene altogether wouldn’t even be impossible.
