Pokémon: The Hoenn Gods as Starters
Chapter 324 - 324: The Battle for the Fourth Seat!
After Lorelei's defeat, Aiden could clearly sense how disappointed she was.
So once the match ended, he immediately went over and spent some time comforting her.
Seeing this, Cynthia felt as if she had been struck by lightning.
She had beaten Lorelei on the battlefield, yet judging by the current situation...
Had she somehow lost ground in the battlefield of love instead?
...
That afternoon, another highly anticipated match began!
The fourth battle was—
Aiden versus Alain!
Alain had originally been nothing more than Professor Sycamore's assistant.
When Ash traveled through the Kalos region, Alain's strength became known, and he was invited to participate in the Lumiose Conference—the Kalos League's major tournament.
In the end, Alain defeated Ash and claimed the championship.
Once again, Ash had narrowly missed out on becoming a League Champion.
To put it bluntly, Alain's appearance had largely served as an obstacle created to prevent Ash and Bond Greninja from winning the title.
Because of that, Aiden's opinion of Alain had dropped considerably.
It was also why Aiden had never believed Alain truly possessed the strength to stand at the absolute summit and become one of the Masters Eight.
If he judged their abilities seriously, Aiden felt Alain might not even be as strong as Wallace.
At the very least, Wallace had once been a regional Champion.
Soon, the battle began.
The referee raised his flags as Aiden and Alain took their positions at opposite ends of the battlefield.
"The next match of the World Coronation Tournament will determine one of the Top Eight positions!"
"Representing the Hoenn League—Champion Aiden Flint!"
"Representing the Kalos region—dark horse Trainer Alain!"
"The winner will earn a place among the world-renowned Masters Eight!"
"Battle, begin!"
The moment the referee finished speaking, Aiden threw a Luxury Ball.
A flash of white light appeared.
Blaziken entered the battlefield!
Aiden's Blaziken had come from the competition at the scientists' town.
He had obtained it through Professor Birch at the same time as Charizard, Serperior, Torterra, and Feraligatr.
At the same moment, Alain sent out his first Pokémon.
It was the final evolution of Chespin, Kalos' Grass-type starter—
Chesnaught!
Ding! Chesnaught's current attributes are as follows:
Pokémon: Chesnaught
Level: 85
Ability: Overgrow
Type: Grass / Fighting
Potential: Gold
Bond Evolution: Locked
Mega Evolution: Locked
Gigantamax: None
Moves: Feint, Hammer Arm, Rollout, Vine Whip, Bite, Leech Seed, Pin Missile, Bulk Up, Mud Shot, Pain Split, Giga Impact, Wood Hammer...
Looking at Alain's lead Pokémon, Aiden silently confirmed his earlier judgment.
Level 85.
So this was the strength of one of Alain's main Pokémon.
He really was weaker than Wallace.
He might even be below Lorelei.
After all, most of Lorelei's primary Pokémon had already reached Level 88 or 89—the very peak of the Master tier.
Wallace was much the same.
His greatest disadvantage had simply been that Milotic could not Mega Evolve.
Before transmigrating, however, Aiden had heard that in newer generations, Pokémon such as Milotic and Dragonite might eventually receive Mega Evolutions of their own.
If that were true, then perhaps every Pokémon possessed some kind of unique Mega Evolution potential.
In that case, Wallace and Lance's strength could rise even further.
Otherwise, compared to other top Trainers, it always felt as if their strongest partners were missing one major form of enhancement.
Blaziken and Chesnaught were both Fighting-type Pokémon.
But one was also Fire type, while the other was Grass type.
On top of that, Aiden's Pokémon was clearly stronger.
This battle should be effortless.
"Chesnaught, use Hammer Arm!"
"You want to meet me head-on?"
Aiden smiled.
"Fine. I'll accept your challenge."
"Blaziken, use Hammer Arm too! Charge!"
At Aiden's command, the Speed Boost Blaziken instantly transformed into a streak of red lightning and rushed toward Chesnaught.
Dense Fighting-type energy covered its right arm.
The two Hammer Arms collided head-on!
Boom!
For several seconds, Blaziken and Chesnaught remained locked against one another.
Then Chesnaught was overwhelmed by Blaziken's superior strength and sent flying backward.
Boom!
Its massive body crashed across the battlefield.
Blaziken immediately stepped forward and pursued.
Its leg erupted with flames.
Blaze Kick!
The attack landed with terrifying force.
Chesnaught, already flying backward, was driven directly into the ground by Blaziken's follow-up strike.
"Finish it, Blaziken!"
"Use Burn Up!"
Blaziken caught up and planted one foot on Chesnaught's body, preventing it from escaping.
It threw back its head and roared.
"Blazi!"
An enormous surge of Fire-type energy erupted.
The blazing inferno engulfed Chesnaught completely.
By the time the attack ended, Chesnaught was deeply embedded in the battlefield.
Its eyes had already become spirals.
It had completely lost the ability to battle.
Ding! Blaziken defeated Chesnaught.
Experience gained: 13,700.
Level unchanged.
Current Level: Lv. 89.
That was right.
Blaziken, which had once belonged to Aiden's second or even third string, had long since caught up.
It had now reached the peak of the Master tier.
Seeing his first Pokémon defeated so decisively, Alain gritted his teeth.
He recalled Chesnaught and threw out his second Poké Ball.
Malamar!
Ding! Malamar's current attributes are as follows:
Pokémon: Malamar
Level: 85
Ability: Contrary
Type: Dark / Psychic
Potential: Gold
Bond Evolution: Locked
Mega Evolution: Locked
Gigantamax: None
Moves: Hypnosis, Peck, Reversal, Payback, Pluck, Psybeam, Slash, Night Slash, Psycho Cut, Foul Play, Superpower, Topsy-Turvy...
"Malamar, huh?"
"In that case, I'll leave this one to you."
"Serperior!"
Aiden sent out Serperior.
Perfect.
Alain's Malamar possessed Contrary.
And Aiden's Serperior possessed Contrary as well.
Which one was stronger?
They could settle that through battle.
Of course, Alain was undeniably powerful.
But in Aiden's eyes, his overall level was closer to Raihan's.
He could probably rank somewhere between tenth and sixteenth in the world.
As for the eighth and ninth positions?
Those should belong to Trainers like Wallace and Lorelei.
"Serperior, use Leaf Storm!"
Alain's expression changed immediately.
"You're starting with a move like that?"
"Wait... does your Serperior have Contrary too?"
Realizing what was happening, Alain immediately issued his own command.
"Malamar, use Payback!"
