Pokemon : The Master of Dragon-Types
Chapter 606 - 606: 606. The Outburst of Indeedee
"Indeedee, use Psychic!"
A surge of Psychic energy burst outward, wrapping around Indeedee's body like the sturdiest of barriers. It shielded her completely, halting the purple orb of Toxic that had been flying straight at her.
The orb, glowing with a sickly Poison-type light, seemed to sink into an invisible swamp. It froze in midair, unable to close the last few inches toward Indeedee.
Watching this, Ashlie's expression darkened further. Psychic-type Pokémon were, without question, some of the most troublesome opponents to face in battle — especially strong ones, capable of using Psychic for both attack and defense at once. Their tricks seemed endless, and countering them was never easy.
"Gliscor, push forward and use Toxic!" Ashlie called out. The gap in raw power left her no choice but to fall back on a poison strategy. If she could simply overpower her opponent through strength alone, she would never have resorted to such an underhanded plan.
"Indeedee, Psychic!"
Jacob didn't waver, calling for Indeedee to use Psychic once more. Purple energy poured out, twisting and reshaping itself in the air until it formed a massive spectral hand.
"That Psychic attack is incredible."
"Jacob's Indeedee has terrifying potential — easily quasi-Champion level, maybe higher."
"How does every single one of Jacob's Pokémon end up this strong?"
Once again, Indeedee's overwhelming strength left the crowd in awe, drawing gasps from every direction.
The giant Psychic hand pressed toward Gliscor, radiating an oppressive force that made the air feel heavy. Ashlie's face turned serious as she shouted, "Gliscor, dodge it!"
Even without her command, Gliscor had already sensed the crushing pressure rolling off the attack and was moving on instinct, twisting through the air with startling speed to avoid it.
Powerful as the giant hand was, its speed dropped the farther it traveled from Indeedee. Gliscor used this to his advantage, pushing his own speed to the limit as he weaved and dodged his way closer.
"Gliscor, push through — get in close and hit her with everything you've got using Toxic!" Ashlie shouted again.
Gliscor didn't slow down for even a moment, holding his blistering pace as he closed the distance to Indeedee.
Watching Gliscor draw nearer and nearer, Ashlie felt a flicker of hope return. If he could just land that Toxic, victory might still be within reach.
But just as Gliscor closed in, another surge of energy rippled in front of Indeedee. The Psychic power condensed instantly into another giant hand and struck out. At such close range, Gliscor had no time to react — he was swatted aside in an instant.
"No way... Gliscor can't even get near her."
"This is rough."
"How is Gliscor supposed to fight like this?"
No one had expected what looked like an even matchup to turn so lopsided. Gliscor wasn't just failing to land a hit on Indeedee — he couldn't even get close enough to try.
Ashlie's eyes narrowed. She was truly cornered now. If Gliscor went down like this, she risked being swept three battles to none by Jacob.
"Gliscor, use Darkest Lariat!"
Ashlie's voice was steady despite the pressure. Gliscor's body lit up with Dark-type energy, a black glow wrapping around him entirely as he let out a fierce cry and surged toward Indeedee once more.
"Indeedee, Psychic!"
Jacob's strategy stayed the same, calling for another Psychic attack. The surging energy reshaped itself once more into a towering hand, aimed straight at Gliscor.
Facing down the intimidating Psychic hand, Gliscor showed no hesitation. Cloaked head to tail in Dark-type energy, he slammed forward with tremendous force, crashing straight into it.
The Psychic hand caught him — but the Dark-type energy cut through it like a spear through cloth, tearing straight to the other side.
"Wait, what—"
"Beautiful! Ashlie's timing is incredible."
"She used the type advantage of Dark over Psychic to break straight through Indeedee's attack."
"As long as the power gap isn't too extreme, Dark-type energy will usually win out over Psychic!"
Amid the crowd's excited murmurs, Gliscor tore through the giant hand and kept charging, his tail crackling with Dark-type energy as he thrust it toward Indeedee like a blade.
"Protect, Indeedee!"
Jacob's voice remained calm as Gliscor bore down on his Pokémon.
Get close and land the Toxic? Jacob smiled to himself. Even if Indeedee did end up poisoned, he already had a plan to deal with it. This match was his to win.
A faint shield of light rose in front of Indeedee, absorbing the force of Gliscor's Darkest Lariat.
"Toxic, now, Gliscor!" Ashlie called out. All of her effort to close the distance had been building toward this one moment, and her voice couldn't hide her excitement as the opportunity finally arrived.
"Psychic, Indeedee!"
The barb on Gliscor's tail glowed with venom as it struck home, piercing Indeedee's side. The poison spread through the wound, and Indeedee slipped into the Toxic status. At the same instant, a burst of Psychic energy exploded outward from her body like a gale, hurling Gliscor away.
"Gliscor managed to poison Indeedee!"
"Now Ashlie just needs to keep Gliscor at a safe distance, recover his stamina with Roost and Poison Heal, and slowly wear Indeedee down behind the cover of her dual screens."
"That Protect call was a waste, though. Jacob should have had Indeedee take the Darkest Lariat head-on and used Protect to block the Toxic instead."
Once Gliscor had successfully poisoned Indeedee, Ashlie's expression settled back into calm. She studied Jacob for a moment before speaking coolly. "Gliscor, Roost."
Battered as he was, Gliscor landed and used Roost, Flying-type energy flowing through him to mend his wounds.
"Indeedee, Substitute!"
The corner of Jacob's mouth lifted. His composure hadn't slipped in the slightest — he seemed entirely unbothered by Indeedee's Toxic status. Rather than pushing for a quick, decisive strike, he calmly ordered Indeedee to use Substitute instead.
"Jacob should be finishing this fast, not giving Gliscor room to breathe."
"I can't read his plan at all. Is he trying to stretch this into a war of attrition with Gliscor?"
"How is Indeedee supposed to outlast Gliscor while poisoned?"
"If Jacob's Indeedee goes down here, he'll have nothing left to hold back Sableye without Psychic Terrain. What is he thinking?"
