Primordial Awakening: My Bloodline Evolves Infinitely

Chapter 127: When A Man Pretending To Be Insane Faces A Man Pretending To Be Sane

  • Next Chapter

An inhuman roar erupted from Leonard’s maw.

Given his complicated background, the number of friends he had made over his life could be counted on his hands.

Winston was the first ally he made after awakening his Primordial Bloodline and later went on to enter a dungeon together. His food was delicious, and he could always be counted on in tough situations.

William was sometimes hot-headed, yet not in an arrogant way. He often searched for a way to lift the mood of the group and strived to prove himself to his parents.

Now the two lay on the cold stone, unmoving, blood seeping from their injuries. It was highly questionable whether they could still be saved.

Leonard’s eyes locked onto the sole reason things had escalated so far: General Godfrey.

Everything was his fault! The arrow embedded in Leonard’s throat, the deaths of so many soldiers!

"I WILL KILL YOU!"

Leonard swore from the depths of his heart. His violent scream came out distorted due to the object lodged in his throat, sounding more like a curse than a promise.

Dropping onto three limbs, he charged like a rabid beast. A heartbeat later, he had already lunged forward with Titanic Oath in hand.

Regardless of what happened, he had to force Godfrey out of the medical tent and the fortress walls! He couldn’t allow the sacrifice of Winston and William to be in vain!

Under Leonard’s watch, no more harm would come to those he cared about!

Godfrey squinted his eyes, surprised that Leonard had mustered the strength to move so quickly.

The General found it a pointless struggle. He had already made it clear that he could easily subdue Leonard.

However, at the same time, Valor and Joker appeared by his flank, both targeting Godfrey’s left sickle.

If Leonard was incapable of taking on Godfrey at full strength, then he planned to focus only on his right side!

With a click of his tongue, Godfrey readjusted his stance. Even he wouldn’t be able to block three strikes simultaneously with one arm.

Yet before he could properly retaliate, Professor Albert joined the fray, targeting the adversary’s right side!

"Bastards!" Godfrey cursed, forced to retreat a few steps backward.

"DIE!" Leonard yelled, conjuring a silver javelin while striking with his axe.

Valor moved right alongside him, his greatsword descending with ferocity and covering any blind spots of his master.

Joker moved between the two. While his attacks bore no threat against such a fearsome opponent, he served the purpose of confusing the enemy. Taking the form of his master meant Godfrey didn’t always know where Leonard actually was.

For the first time since gaining his summons, Leonard fought alongside them like a manifestation of his will. They appeared as a single, unrelenting opponent rather than three separate entities.

In all the time Godfrey had spent on the battlefield, he had never seen anything like this. Not even remotely close.

To complicate matters even further, he was forced to divide his focus between them and Albert.

Each blow directed at him came closer to hitting its mark than the last. Even the General’s seemingly endless stamina was being pushed to the brink.

"Shit!" Godfrey gritted his teeth.

He had lost his chance! His endurance had been stretched too thin. Taking over the fortress alone was no longer within his grasp.

Barely able to handle the ongoing slaughter, he was forced to retreat through the blasted gates.

There, he saw the two remaining Sergeants panting heavily.

They were soon going to die. Furthermore, because all of Sandromia’s strategists were held up in battle, the army following them from behind had descended into disarray.

The scholars were steadily picking off the soldiers one by one, with nobody able to stop them.

"Abandoning the fight might be our only option..." Godfrey arrived at a realization that stung him to the very core.

However... he didn’t plan to retreat empty-handed, his gaze fixing on Leonard.

He was going to take his head one way or another!

Despite not being an awakener for long, Leonard had already reached a monstrous level of combat ability!

For the good of Sandromia, Godfrey sought to strike down Leonard here!

Going all out, Godfrey abruptly shifted his body weight and delivered a devastating kick to Leonard’s side.

The impact was brutal, the sickening noise of breaking ribs echoing through the battlefield.

Driven by the momentum, Leonard lost his footing and began to fall. Instinctively, he reached out toward the ground... his right palm scraped against the protruding roots scattered across the battlefield.

"Success!" Godfrey sneered. "You are about to become monster nourishment!"

Even the smallest graze was more than enough. Thorns began to emerge from his limb, while crimson sepals blossomed across Leonard’s arm.

The incurable plague that had cleared the previous occupants of the fortress now raged within him. Fueled by his Primordial Bloodline, the roots spread upward, eager to consume him whole.

In a mere few seconds, his entire body would be devoured, leaving not even flesh or blood behind.

Despite the approaching doom, Leonard’s mind remained unnaturally calm. Sustained by nothing more than the desire to see Godfrey’s dead.

His lips parted.

"Valor."

The knight obeyed.

He swung.

Valor cut Leonard’s arm at the shoulder, preventing the plague from spreading further.

Godfrey’s eyes narrowed in shock.

Nobody was supposed to be able to part with their limb without hesitation!

What kind of psychopath was he fighting?!

What kind of upbringing had he endured?!

"Crazy—"

He began, only to be interrupted mid-sentence.

Using his only remaining arm, Leonard punched.

Hand Combat Mastery made his fist strike like a truck.

Godfrey didn’t expect hand-to-hand combat. The punch connected cleanly and broke his nose.

With an aggravated groan, he lifted his gaze, only to realize that Leonard wasn’t anywhere near done.

First, he used Frost Touch to seal the wound across his shoulder. Then he recalled Titanic Oath and threw it.

"DIE! DIE! DIE!" Leonard shouted repeatedly, like a chant.

Godfrey barely had time to dodge. The edge of the axe left a clear mark across his forehead.

"Impossible!" He bellowed. "It has been years since I bled on the battlefield!"

"DIE! DIE! DIE!"

Leonard didn’t care.

He knew that if he stopped, he wouldn’t be able to move through the pain. Forcing his body, he refused to give up now.

A dangerous gleam appeared in General Godfrey’s eyes. Even with his guard raised, he still had underestimated Leonard!

"Taking your head might really be worth my time!"

He was about to meet him in battle when he noticed in the far distance his two Sergeants had fallen. Elizabeth and Miranda were now also rushing toward the fight.

Godfrey knew that with their addition, the scales of battle would turn too much in their favor. So he did the only thing a man in his position could do.

He turned around.

And ran.

"NO! STOP!!"

[Dragon Slayer activated!]

[Dragon Slayer activated!]

[Dragon Slayer activated!]

Unwilling to let the man go free after what he had done, Leonard sent javelin after javelin in the air after him.

"COME BACK!"

Even his dwindling mana didn’t stop him. He chugged down the mana potions he had been keeping in reserve just to continue his assault.

The Dragon Slayer skill wasn’t meant to be used in quick succession, yet he did anyway.

The silver javelins descended from the sky like artillery, embedding themselves deep in the earth and shaking the very foundations of the ground like an earthquake.

Already deep in the wilderness, Godfrey was forced to dodge the descending onslaught from the heavens.

One javelin slipped past his radar and wounded the side of his cheek, drawing blood.

"That brat is insane." Godfrey growled, refusing to look back.

With his mana depleted, Leonard was left screaming into the imperceivable void past the forest.

"YOU COWARD! STOP RUNNING AWAY AND FACE ME!"

Alas... no reply arrived for the other side.

General Godfrey had slipped away.
