Chapter 1717: Shadowtail Scorpion

Chapter 1717: Shadowtail Scorpion

It took less than 5 hours for Uncle Drew and his team to reach the location of the Shadowtail Scorpion, where they planned to kill the beast and let Saden absorb its core.

This mission they are on is dangerous, so if getting stronger along the way was something they could do, they wouldn’t miss any chance they are present with.

They stopped 2 km away from the cave and started strategizing.

"A shadow creature truly lives here," Uncle Drew said, looking toward the cave in the distance. All of them could also sense the danger hidden inside it.

"So how are we approaching this?" Nara asked, and Uncle Drew quickly came up with a plan. In fact, he had already developed this plan on their way here.

"While it is indeed a dangerous demigod-level beast, all six of us attacking it will just be overdoing it at this point. So the plan is simple.

Vargus, Eryndor, and I will draw it out, and you ladies must work together to kill it. Remember, it is a shadow-type beast that has already touched divinity and even possesses a domain. If you slack off, you will find yourselves in trouble."

They nodded and soon got into action.

Uncle Drew, Vargus, and Eryndor moved forward, allowing the Shadowtail Scorpion to notice them while the three ladies hid and waited for the beast to show itself.

Hidden inside the cave, just as Uncle Drew and his teammates crossed the 1 km mark, a deep purple eye opened, and the shadows began to move.

Soon, the shadows flowed out of the cave and began to darken the surrounding space.

"It has noticed us. You all should be ready for battle."

Just as he said that, shadow tendrils shot out, lashing out toward the approaching figure. Uncle Drew moved back while Vargus leapt into the air and unleashed a deadly attack using his hammer, sending flames flying at the tendrils.

When they collided, the tendrils burst apart, but new ones formed the next second, making the space even darker.

"I will take on close combat to draw its attacks."

Uncle Drew moved forward and closed in on the tendrils.

He spun his right sword and then, with a deadly swing, unleashed thousands of flame arcs that streaked toward the cave.

SKRREEEEKKKKKK

A strange clicking sound came from the cave just as the sword arcs closed in. Then, from deep within the cave, a powerful force surged outward, and Uncle Drew felt his body tense for a second.

"Eryndor..." Uncle Drew called out, and Eryndor’s staff moved, conjuring a green sun.

"BURN."

The sun moved toward the cave, causing the ground to shake. The beast’s oppressive energy was suppressed by the sun, showing it isn’t an ordinary attack.

This made the Shadowtail Scorpion, which had expected its aura alone to intimidate these people, release another piercing clicking sound.

Then a large black-and-purple tail emerged from the cave and pierced the sun, shattering it completely.

"Eat my hammer!" Vargus roared, seizing the moment of destruction to cause even more destruction.

BOOOOM

His hammer slammed into the cave, shattering it. Debris flew everywhere, revealing a large opening where a colossal scorpion could be seen lying down.

It was about 120 meters long, with a body made of metallic fibres. Its tail dripped poison, and even the air around it seemed poisoned while also being infused with shadow energy.

The Shadowtail Scorpion was colossal and extremely dangerous to behold. However, now that its body had been revealed, killing it would become much easier too.

Uncle Drew lifted his swords, and they lit up in flames. As a Night Rider, he naturally has an affinity for Hell Flame. But even if it didn’t, he had once ruled countless battlefields, so this was a piece of cake for him.

"Flame Cleaver."

A large green arc flashed out and landed on the Shadowtail Scorpion’s body, producing a metallic clang.

"Well, that is a problem."

Uncle Drew jumped back, evading a poison dart. However, before he could stabilise his stance, a tail came crashing toward him. He didn’t panic or even make an attempt to defend.

BANG

Vargus appeared and slammed his hammer into the tail, causing it to tremble. However, it didn’t end there. Just before the Shadowtail Scorpion could pull its tail back, Eryndor cast a spell, and a massive boulder came crashing down toward it.

It let out a third clicking sound and dissolved its body into shadows.

"Hell Rend."

Just as it turned into shadow, Nara emerged and attacked, aiming her attack 300 meters away, where nothing worth attacking could be seen.

If someone else saw her attack, they would have thought she had wasted her chance. However, the Night Riders had fought many battles together, and they knew the infamous Nightblade wouldn’t make such a rookie mistake.

Just when her attack was a meter away, the Shadowtail Scorpion reformed from the shadows, only to be met with a deadly strike that carved a large wound into its body.

SKRREEEEKKKKKK

A painful screech came from the Shadowtail Scorpion. However, it had no time to even turn toward Nara since Lene had also appeared and unleashed a deadly spear attack, manifesting a giant spear in the air.

The manifested spear shot forward and pierced the hide of the Shadowtail Scorpion, drawing blood.

"Mountain Falling."

Vargus followed up next, his colossal hammer striking the scorpion’s head.

An arrow came from the side and pierced one of its eyes. Saden emerged from the shadows and unleashed three more arrows before slipping back into them.

Uncle Drew, whose first attack had failed, smiled when he saw how well-coordinated his teammates were.

They knew when to take advantage of an opening and when to hold back. Right now, thanks to Nara’s attack, they had managed to inflict severe damage on the Shadowtail Scorpion.

However, it was still nowhere close to death. In fact, just as Eryndor summoned another giant boulder, a wave of terrifying poison exploded from the beast’s body, forcing the six attackers to retreat.

It isolated Nara and lunged forward. However, it hadn’t gone far when Vargus’s hammer slammed into its side, sending it flying back.

"Giant Form."

Vargus activated a body-enhancing technique. At once, his body morphed and transformed, turning him into a 60-meter-tall giant.

"Hammer Head Dominion."

His hands moved, and the sky changed colour. Then, before the Shadowtail Scorpion could turn and retaliate, Vargus unleashed a devastating blow, sending the beast flying backwards.

This gave Uncle Drew the opening he needed to unleash one of his deadliest sword techniques.

"Sword Bath in Flames."

The air around him turned scorching hot. Then, with a decisive slash, a thin arc of green flames flashed out from his sword, severing the Shadowtail Scorpion’s tail.

Surprisingly, it tried to reattach the tail, shooting tendrils of shadow toward it.

However, Nara appeared like a blur and severed the tendrils. This gave the brute of the team enough time to unleash a bone-crushing hammer strike, shattering the tail and cutting off all attempts to reattach it.

With its tail gone, Saden emerged from the shadows again and pulled back her bowstring, manifesting a 3-meter-tall arrow.

The shadows around her moved and augmented her bow, merging into the arrow and causing the already oppressive energy surrounding it to intensify.

"Shadow Harvesting Arrow."

She let the arrow loose, and like a meteor, it flew through the air, striking the small opening that served as the maw of the Shadowtail Scorpion.

The arrow passed through and vanished into its body.

Uncle Drew sheathed his swords, and Nara did the same. Eryndor, who had already stopped attacking, shook his head and smiled. Lene, who had only attacked once, remained where she was with her arms folded, while the almighty Vargus rested his hammer on his shoulder.

The battle was over, even though the Shadowtail Scorpion was still alive.

Saden smiled faintly, then snapped her fingers.

"Explode."
