Primordial Monster Girl Tamer
Chapter 16: Killing my owner
The men continued to attack, each punch that landed made it feel like my body was being flattened. I could feel the blood gathering in my mouth, I lacked the strength to fight it back, I was more focused on the beating.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps. They echoed against the paved alley floor, they sounded confident, the type of footsteps that followed a figure that was powerful and strong. Then I saw him, through my blurry gaze, I laid eyes on a figure.
He was dressed in a knee-length cloak and had his hands tucked in his pockets as he walked.
"Hey, who the hell are you?" My owner yelled. I wondered as well, wanting to see if this figure would be answering that question. But this figure did not answer, he simply walked past them and they looked at him in utter confusion.
I watched the figure come right to me, he stood before me and bent down. He looked me in the eye and I finally got to see him properly. Dark hair and deep dark eyes. He sent a striking feeling into my heart.
"Do you want to be free?" He asked me. I heard those words and I felt safety, but this safety only coated the fear that was hidden beneath, and I could tell.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing?" My owner roared.
"Kill this brat."
His two men moved, wanting to grab the man that stood before me, but before their hands could land on him, a golden flame poured from above and slammed in front of them. The explosive force hurled them back, all three of them.
I saw another figure appear, she had wings made of golden flame and she looked like what an angel would be if they existed. I found myself staring at the beautiful flames.
The men got on their feet, they looked at her with eyes filled with rage, they did not like whatever she had just done.
"You stupid bitch, how dare you attack me?" My owner roared. His men rushed over to grab her, but she moved fast, her flame wings flapping as she went right over them in a flip. She got to the other side and immediately stretched out her hands. I saw the flames shoot out and slam into the two men, hurling them back past me.
Their bodies hit the ground hard, I heard them behind me. I was stunned at her power, it overwhelmed them in seconds and there was nothing that they could do, the same people that had caused me so much pain were now powerless.
"Do you want to be free?" The man asked me again. I looked at him, our eyes locked for a few seconds, he came in smooth and soft, yet stern and confident. It felt to me like I was faced with the devil and he was offering me a deal.
All I had to do was take his hand, all I had to do was agree with him. I was scared, very scared about what could happen after here. But that had been my issue all my life, scared, scared to do anything, scared to run, and the one time I showed that I was brave I got into this situation.
Still, looking at him made my heart race and yet made me feel calm. My entire body told me to rest my life into the hand of this man, all my instincts screamed against it though, it was as though I was in a battle against my own self at this moment.
’No, no more, I have to take action for my own life, and if this hand before me is the hand of the devil, then I’ll take it if it means I can walk on the heads of my enemies and watch them squirm and cry like they did to me.’
I stretched out my hand and grabbed his, he smiled, a kind smile.
He pulled me up to my feet and held me to face my owner. He was still on the ground struggling to get up. The lady that had attacked stopped to the side as well and looked down at him.
"You have agreed to be free, so take your freedom." The man said to me and pulled out his sword from his waist, he handed it to me without hesitation. I thought about rejecting it and stepping back, running from this all, but no, I had taken the step I needed to be free and I was not stopping now.
I took the blade and looked at the man.
"Good, take your own freedom, the blade right through the heart," the man said and pointed right at the chest.
I watched the fear form in the eyes of my owner.
"No, stop this, how dare all of you? Do you know who I am? If you do this you’ll be hunted to the day you die!" He bellowed, and for the first time in my life, the scream of someone made me smile. I did not know when my lips curled up, but they did.
I listened to him rant about being hunted like I was ever free before. I did not care for that, all I cared about was the fact that I would finally kill him.
"Well, allow the living handle that issue," the man said. I looked at him, he had no worries or hesitation, the threats did nothing to him. I took that as my go-ahead, I walked closer to my owner, he tried to move away but the lady grabbed him and made sure he could not move at all.
"Please don’t, I beg you, I’ll take better care of you. Don’t, don’t, don’t," he began to scream and thrash around in a panic because
I placed the tip of the blade on his chest and his breathing got erratic. I could hear his heart beating and it only made me more excited. I smiled ear to ear and pressed the blade in, it sunk into his chest, blood pouring out and life leaving his eyes.
