Chapter 18: entering the sky palace

I looked at the Sky Palace above, this massive construct that was said to house some of the craziest bosses in the entirety of Tera. It also housed many rewards and items, and many of them I knew in my head.

I was the type of player to invest an ungodly amount of time researching a game, because I simply wanted to master and manipulate it to my advantage.

The surroundings were filled with so many adventurers getting ready to enter the Sky Palace. It was a whole lot of people, many dressed in different armors and carrying different weapons of many grades. In this world, artifacts and weapons ranged from F class all the way to S class weapons, and after that came Legendary weapons, Holy weapons, and finally Calamity rank.

The average adventurer could probably get their hands on F ranked to C without issues and only money. As for the sword I had on me, it was shit, not even ranked. I looked at it on my side and let out a sigh. I really had to start getting better stuff if I wanted to take over.

Humans were not the only ones here from what I could see as well. I saw many beast men walking around, which was a bit crazy considering the fact that humans in Tera had a tendency to hate other races and also try to enslave them like Lia and Mira. In fact, I could see some people staring at Lia, who was behind me.

’Tch, I’m sure those fucks would jump at the opportunity to have her.’

I looked away from them and focused on where to carry out registration. To become an adventurer was pretty simple, you could pay for it or take an exam. Those who took the exam believed they had a high rank and wanted to get what they deserved. Others simply went and paid for it and got the lowest level, and then they could climb from there.

That’s what I planned to do. I had no time to carry out an exam because of my pride. I turned and looked at Lia.

"Let’s go get our adventurer status."

She nodded at me, and we walked toward the center where the massive teleporter to the palace was located. It was surrounded by fully armed guards in sleek armor, they gave off the aura of pure discipline.

There was a table located around the teleporter with a shorter line, the place to get your adventurer ID. It had very little people because many of the people who wanted to be adventurers were already registered.

Lia and I joined the line.

When it was our turn, I walked up to the man who was seated at the table. He looked at me for a few seconds and down at the paper where he was writing something down.

"To register as an adventurer is two silver coins per person, you are paying for the identity card basically." The man said and kept writing.

I pulled out four coins and placed them on the table. He pulled them in the same way he spoke to me, without care.

"Your names?" He asked.

"Tez and Lia." I responded.

He gave one nod and proceeded to pull out some sort of cube-like device. He slotted two cards in, and one by one they came out of the other side, carrying my name and image, a shocking thing.

He handed the card to me and spoke. "Drop your blood on it to activate your rank system to know where you stand and also be able to get information and more with it, I am sure that you’ll figure it out."

I took mine and that of Lia, handing it to her and walking out of the line. The moment we walked out, I bit into my finger and dropped blood onto them. The blood dissolved in seconds, and immediately a holographic screen popped up similar to that of my system.

It showed my name and some basic information about my strength and my adventurer ranking, wood.

The rankings went from wood, to iron, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, and netherite. Within each rank were three stars, and right now I was simply a one star.

Lia allowed her blood to drop as well, and when it was done, she was pretty much the same as me.

"Let’s head in, we’ve stayed outside long enough. I think it’s time we get to work."

"What should we expect inside there?" she asked me as she walked towards the teleporter.

"Honestly, I wish I knew what to expect when we got there, but I’m not sure myself." I lied through my teeth. Of course, I had an idea what to expect, but for now, I am simply going to act like I am new here, even if she was my mate now and someone that I have tamed, but I still preferred to keep some advantages to myself.

We joined everyone that was on the platform and got ready. The magical circle beneath our feet glowed brightly, and in the next second, we vanished from where we stood.

When I opened my eyes again, I was standing inside a large hall. The floors were made of dark marble, and torches lit up the walls, casting flickering shadows.

There was a door at the end of the hall, the only way out. I was not alone here, Lia was here as well as hundreds of others that had come here and were ready to start as well.

"We should not waste time, let’s head in." I said to Lia.

"If you are new here, I advise you to not do that." I heard a voice from behind me.
