Pursuing Her Best Friend after Confession Failed

Chapter 935: Li Yuan: Cousin, What Do You Have to Play With Me? (Part 2)

“Very possible. Xia Hua is just too amazing—having lots of girlfriends is totally normal. If I were that pretty, I’d want to be Xia Hua’s girlfriend too…”

“Hehe, stop dreaming. Lanlan, did you notice? Those two girls kind of look alike. Could they be sisters?”

“Huh? No way. Don’t tell me Xia Hua has a pair of sisters as his girlfriends? That’s a bit too unbelievable.”

“Who knows. Lanlan, are we still going over to say hi?”

“Uh, uh… forget it. His girlfriend is right there, it feels kind of awkward.”

“Come on, what’s the big deal? It’s not like we’re stealing her boyfriend. Miss this village and there won’t be another inn. If you’re not going, I’m going, okay?”

“Uh… fine then, we’ll go together, I’ll back you up…”

…

Chu Yanyan watched Li Yuan smoothly pull a signing pen out of his pocket, sign for the two excited girls and take photos with them, and couldn’t help curling her lips.

Thinking of her mom’s very obvious hints, plus what she was seeing now, made her grind her teeth at this philandering scumbag in front of her.

She really couldn’t understand why everyone liked this kind of playboy carrot.

Just because he’s handsome, has a great body, talented, rich, and generous?

Is love really that cheap?

Can it be weighed with material things?

Looking at her cousin beside Li Yuan, acting like a sweet, cute, sensible little woman, she felt her blood pressure shoot up.

Her cousin was great at everything, practically flawless in all aspects, except she was way too stubbornly devoted, looking like she was absolutely head over heels for Li Yuan…

Thinking of this, Chu Yanyan couldn’t help teasing:

“Yo, worthy of being a big star, you’re really popular. Everywhere you go, there are your fangirls.”

Li Yuan smiled as he saw the two girls who wanted autographs off, then heard Chu Yanyan’s teasing. Looking at her face and eyes, flushed red from the cold and so beautiful it was intoxicating, he chuckled and replied:

“Heh, Cousin, are you jealous?”

Chu Yanyan didn’t know what she suddenly thought of; her pretty face reddened sharply, and she glared at Li Yuan in mock anger.

“Hmph, as if I’d be jealous over some philandering scumbag like you. Keep dreaming.”

Li Yuan didn’t mind, and kept teasing this icy-cool cousin. He’d known Chu Yanyan for a while now and understood her personality: sharp tongue, soft heart, no real bad intentions.

It’s just that she’s kind of stubborn, with very proper values.

Otherwise, in his past life she wouldn’t have gone straight to jumping off a building—pretty fierce, honestly.

“Cousin, you may be pretty, but you can’t just wrongly accuse people. I admit I’m a flirt, but where exactly am I ‘scum’?”

Hearing Li Yuan’s serious answer, Chu Yanyan suddenly choked up and, for a moment, didn’t know how to respond.

Granted, Li Yuan was extremely flirtatious. He’d only just started freshman year and had already sweet-talked her cousin Xia Zhijin into his hands.

And that’s not all—he was also dating two other girlfriends at the same time. If that doesn’t count as being a flirt, then there aren’t many playboys left in the world…

But is Li Yuan really scum?

That’s hard to say; everyone has their own opinion.

She also knew a few real scumbags—that was true scum: start messy and end messy, con money and sex, knock girls up, trick people into doing drugs… and so on.

Just hearing it made them sound absolutely vile—that’s what you call a scumbag through and through.

And Li Yuan?

All his girlfriends were utterly devoted to him; not one had ever said a bad word about him.

Not only that, even her own parents and relatives had never criticized Li Yuan. They were even thinking about pushing their own daughter into Li Yuan’s arms…

Chu Yanyan really didn’t know what to say.

All she could do was silently roast them in her heart: maybe this is the power of “money ability”?

Well, not just that. Li Yuan’s own conditions were great too: tall, handsome, healthy, and, crucially, incredibly talented.

Seeing Chu Yanyan suddenly fall silent, Li Yuan smiled smugly, then took Xia Zhijin’s small hand and started showing off their love.

“Jin, your hand is so cold. The weather’s freezing—why aren’t you wearing gloves?”

“Here, let me warm them up for you.”

As he spoke, he took Xia Zhijin’s small hand and stuffed it into his own coat pocket, covering it with his hand…

Xia Zhijin hadn’t seen Li Yuan for a long time either, and she missed him terribly, but because of her personality she was pretty shy and didn’t know how to express it…

“I-I’m not cold!”

“Your hand’s practically frozen stiff and you still say you’re not cold. Be good, I’ll warm it up for you.”

Chu Yanyan, standing to the side, finally came back to her senses. Seeing Li Yuan and Xia Zhijin openly flaunting their love right in front of her, that sour, lemony feeling in her chest got even stronger…

“Hmph, Li Yuan, Jin, am I kind of extra here now?”

Li Yuan burst out laughing, stretched out his other hand, and teased:

“I’ve still got one hand left—do you want to join in? I can warm you up for free.”

Chu Yanyan never expected Li Yuan to say that, to actually joke like that with her. Her heart suddenly gave a jolt, like a little deer crashing around, her eyes widened as she stared blankly at Li Yuan. For a moment it was like she’d been hit with a Freeze Spell—she had no idea how to respond…

Li Yuan saw the look on Chu Yanyan’s face and hadn’t expected her to be this easy to tease. This dazed, dumbfounded look was such a huge contrast to the sharp-tongued version of her from just now.

Li Yuan snickered to himself: “Heh, little one, I’ve got you now, haven’t I? Let’s see if you still dare to make fun of me next time.”

Looking at the stunned Chu Yanyan, Li Yuan kept teasing:

“Cousin, why aren’t you talking? Did the cold freeze your mouth? Want me to blow on it for you?”

“Li Yuan, you—!” Chu Yanyan was furious, her cheeks and the skin on her neck flushing red as she glared hard at Li Yuan.

Li Yuan shrugged, and his mouth kept firing away, refusing to let up.

“Yo, Senior, you can’t just rely on having big eyes and glare at me like that, it’s making me kinda scared, you know!”

“Staring at me like that—does that mean you’ve fallen for me too?”

When Chu Yanyan heard that, her face instantly turned scarlet. She spat: “Tch, you pervert. Even if every man on earth dropped dead, I still wouldn’t like you.”

Li Yuan pretended to sigh in relief and joked:

“Oh, that’s good. Luckily you don’t like me. What a relief, what a relief!”

Seeing Li Yuan looking all cheap and shameless, Chu Yanyan felt her anger spike again. She glared at Li Yuan and muttered unhappily:

“Li Yuan, what’s that supposed to mean? You sound awfully happy that I don’t like you?”

Li Yuan smiled faintly, casual, looking totally unconcerned: “No, it’s just that you’re too outstanding, Cousin. Someone as ordinary as me doesn’t deserve your liking.”

Chu Yanyan gave a little snort: “Hmph, at least you have some self-awareness.”

Li Yuan chuckled and echoed: “Yeah, yeah, you deserve someone better. Wish you happiness, wish you joy!”

After he finished, seeing that Chu Yanyan looked like she was about to explode from anger again, Li Yuan quickly pulled the quietly giggling Xia Zhijin over and changed the subject.

“Zhijin, you’ve been on the plane for hours, you must be hungry, right?”

“I already booked a restaurant. The food’s pretty good, let’s go try it together.”

Xia Zhijin nodded and gave a sweet smile: “Mm-hmm!”

“Yanyan, let’s go eat.”

Chu Yanyan looked at Li Yuan and Xia Zhijin together and suddenly felt like she really was a bit extra right now.

“Hmph, I’m not eating, I’m already full from being angry! You two go.”

Li Yuan casually followed up: “Yo, Cousin, rude question, but what kind of air are you eating? Carbon dioxide? Is it tasty?”

Hearing Li Yuan’s words, Chu Yanyan was so mad she went straight to using her fists, swinging her soft little fist and thumping him on the shoulder.

“Li Yuan, you bastard, all you ever do is bully me.”

Li Yuan felt terribly wronged: “Yanyan, how can you falsely accuse a good guy out of nowhere? When did I ever bully you?”

“If you don’t believe me, ask Zhijin—wasn’t it you who picked on me first?”

Chu Yanyan also glared at Xia Zhijin, her brows raised: “Jin, you tell me, isn’t Li Yuan the one bullying people?”

Xia Zhijin looked at the two of them helplessly, not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Even before New Year, she’d already noticed: whenever Li Yuan bumped into her cousin, it was like a needle meeting a sharp awl, and the bickering would start…

“You’re both wrong!”
