Chapter 1385 - 413: [Borrowing Your Body]_2
Chapter 1385: Chapter 413: [Borrowing Your Body]_2
That really couldn’t be called a scar anymore—it’s just on the surface of the skin, a faint, threadlike mark as thin as a strand of silk.
If this is supposed to be a scar... then a suturing technique like this is something no doctor in this world could possibly master!
The silk thread ran very long, almost trailing all the way down to Wu’s lower abdomen.
You could imagine, if this was where Wu had been "opened up" back then, then a cut this long would have exposed most of his mid-abdomen and lower abdomen!
This level of disembowelment...
And done in a crude mountain cave, with no medical equipment at all—it simply couldn’t be accomplished.
Even if nothing else, the blood loss alone would have been enough to bleed a man to death.
·
"I remember it very clearly. The first time I woke up and saw my own belly cut open, actually... it was like I didn’t really bleed much." Wu’s tone was bitter. "Then, the second time I woke up, the wound was gone, and it had become like this. I may not be that educated, but even I know there is absolutely no such medical skill in this world!"
Chen Yan looked at Wu.
Wu’s gaze on Chen Yan was complicated. "Just like... the way you saved me. I was practically dead already, but after sleeping a few hours and waking up, aside from feeling weak, the injuries had almost all healed.
So, this isn’t medicine, is it?"
Chen Yan didn’t speak, just quietly watched Wu, then sighed. "Keep talking."
·
Wu had been rescued by that stranger, in the cave.
Judging by his features, the stranger should have been Asian, quite possibly even Dragon Country People.
Wu guessed that because when the man spoke to him, he spoke Dragon Country Language.
He spoke the standard common Mandarin, but with a touch of accent, sounded like the Yun-Gui Region, though Wu didn’t dare be sure exactly where.
His clothes were simple, worn for a long time, the material seemed to be cotton-linen, looked even a bit crude.
Like... something hand-sewn by himself.
Wu noticed a detail: there were no modern manufactured buttons.
Where his clothes needed buttons, each spot had a Copper Coin sewn on as a substitute.
Though the man lived in a mountain cave, he himself was very clean, his hair fresh and tidy, none of that greasy look unique to people who live outdoors long-term.
Wu also noticed that the man’s fingers were very clean, nails neat, with no black grime in the nail beds.
What surprised Wu most was that he realized the cave itself was unnaturally clean.
The cave floor showed no soil or dust, the rock walls no debris or moss.
Even the air lacked that usual damp, stuffy feel of mountain caves; instead... every breath felt dry and crisp.
Yet he could clearly hear, faint in the distance, the sound of a stream.
And that area was a humid subtropical region, deep in the forest. A cave in the mountains shouldn’t be this dry.
The stranger told Wu his wound had already been healed.
Wu asked the stranger who he was, and why he had saved him.
The stranger stared at Wu with a very peculiar look, fixing his eyes on him for a long time before answering.
"I saved you because your physical condition is quite good. The shape of your internal organs is pleasing to the eye, and very healthy. Also because... besides you, in this place, I don’t have a second candidate."
A candidate!
Wu instantly heard the deeper meaning in that word.
"So I’m useful to you?"
"Useful." The stranger nodded.
Then the stranger stood up. "Come with me to see something."
Wu tried to get up. Though it took some effort, he still managed to stand—only then did he realize his injuries had healed at least seventy or eighty percent; the only thing lacking was strength.
"By the way, your wounds are healed. The weakness now is because your qi and blood are severely depleted, and also... because you’re hungry."
With that, the stranger walked ahead.
Wu’s mind was bursting with questions; he followed cautiously.
The stranger led Wu out of the cave, then around the entrance, walking off to one side.
After a few hundred meters or so, they reached a mountain ravine.
Calling it a ravine, it was actually more like a small pit in the ground.
The stranger told him to look down. Wu glanced down, and his scalp instantly crawled!!
The pit was filled with corpses!!
·
The corpses were those pursuers who had been hunting Wu.
You could see that from the uniforms they wore.
And among them were a few faces Wu recognized.
He spotted, lying on the uppermost layer to the left of the pit, the adopted son of that warlord leader whom he himself had taken out!
And beside him was another adopted son!
These two were the leaders of the hunt for Wu, the ones who had sworn to kill him and return to claim the inheritance.
Yet now, they were both dead, their bodies lying right under Wu’s feet.
And around these two, the pit was crammed, bodies crisscrossing and piled up, at least thirty or forty in total—all of them the soldiers and subordinates they’d brought along for the chase.
Wu’s scalp tingled again and again; he turned to look at the stranger.
"You... killed them?"
"Yes."
"How... did you do it?"
Wu felt his heartbeat go haywire, a numb tingling spreading through his whole body.
Wu considered himself a veteran at killing; whether on the battlefield or later as an assassin, he had plenty of lives on his hands.
