Chapter 1510: Chapter 452: [Deserving Death]_2

Chen Yan raised two fingers. "Second time, does anyone speak English?"

Still no one answered.

Chen Yan smiled again, waved his hand lightly, and a female Cultist’s body flew up into the air, pressed against the wall by an invisible force.

Then, in one of the iron cages, the iron bars snapped one after another, whooshing out with several sharp whistles, densely nailing into that female Cultist’s body, turning her into a beehive and pinning her dead onto the wall, just hanging there!

Fresh blood flowed down from the corpse onto the floor.

Looking down from on high at the female Cultist collapsed at his feet, Chen Yan smiled, his tone very calm. "Third time, does anyone speak English?"

The female Cultist’s body began trembling uncontrollably!

She was really scared now, really terrified to the extreme!

Even though she had once fanatically believed in this "True God," and had done countless inhuman things because of that fanatical faith.

All along, she had thought her faith was unshakably firm.

But right now, seeing two companions die in front of her, and killed by this indifferent man with a suddenly casual attitude, slaughtered with a flick of his hand, and in such a miserable way!

In an instant, the faith that had once been rock solid began to crumble.

She had been brainwashed for years, believing that when the time came to sacrifice herself for the "True God," she would face death with unwavering resolve.

But when the moment truly arrived, she suddenly discovered that she was terrified out of her mind.

Seeing the female Cultist at his feet shivering yet still silent, Chen Yan curled his lips. "Oh, you don’t speak English either? Forget it then."

As he spoke, he raised one finger.

The female Cultist broke down!

"W–wait! I—I speak English!" Her voice was shrill and trembling.

Chen Yan smiled, bent down slightly, and gave her a once-over. "Hmm, you speak English, that’s rare... you went to school?"

He had thought this would be another "knowledge changes fate" case like that gas-station robber.

But the female Cultist hurriedly explained in a shaking voice, "N–no, I didn’t go to school."

She paused, probably scared out of her wits, then babbled on quickly, "My mom speaks English, she was a prostitute in a tavern. She followed a white man who came here on business, that white guy kept her for a year, and after she got pregnant, he left Gusanka..."

At this point, the female Cultist’s emotions calmed a bit, and her speech became smoother. "My mom always hoped that white man would come back for her, acknowledge me, so she taught me English from when I was little."

Chen Yan nodded and carefully studied the female Cultist’s face.

Sure enough, her features showed faint traces of mixed blood.

After a brief moment of thought, Chen Yan pointed at the cages in the room. "Explain what’s going on here."

The female Cultist’s body shuddered. "These people are... Blood Slaves."

"Blood Slaves?"

Chen Yan glanced around at the room’s setup, noticing the tubes drawing blood from each Blood Slave’s body and the blood storage vats beside each row of cages.

"These Blood Slaves, you captured them?"

"N–no, they weren’t captured," the female Cultist rushed to say. "The Blood Slaves are the most devout and loyal believers! Because to offer blood sacrifices to the True God, you must use the blood of the most devout and pure Cultists. If you use impure blood, it will incur the True God’s wrath, so..."

"So these Blood Slaves are volunteers?" Chen Yan smiled.

"Y–yes, they volunteered, and they even had to go through strict selection to prove their devotion."

"How do you select them?" Chen Yan was intrigued—there were actually people scrambling to die?

"First they must be willing to give up all their property, and then... they have to personally kill a family member they love most. Only then can they prove their faith is the most devout, the purest."

Chen Yan fell silent and glanced at the rows of iron cages holding the "Blood Slaves."

He dropped the idea of rescuing these poor bastards being drained of blood.

A bunch of lunatics devoted to an Evil Cult—then dying is exactly what they deserve.

At first, seeing these people locked in cages and bled, they had seemed pretty miserable and pitiful.

But after hearing this...

Fuck, they’re not bleeding them enough!

"Since their faith is so devout, why lock them in cages?" Chen Yan’s interest was piqued.

"..." The female Cultist hesitated. "Because they don’t know that once they’re chosen, it’s to be bled dry. They think they’ve been chosen by the True God to become God’s Attendants, that they can... they can..."

"Go to heaven?" Chen Yan laughed.

"Mm... that’s basically it."

"So once they’re sent here and these Blood Slaves find out they’re actually here to be drained and die, some don’t want to anymore, they resist, so you lock them all in cages?"

The female Cultist nodded. "To make them behave and not resist, we also feed them drugs to put them into a stupor..."

Ha!

Chen Yan laughed.

That made them even more deserving.

"Where is your Sacrificial Priest? Take me to him."

When they reached the grand hall in the back, Chen Yan looked at the circular underground plaza and the stone doors lining the roads around it, and nodded.

This underground hall was shaped like an Eight Trigrams formation—of course, it wasn’t actually the Eight Trigrams, just similar in layout.

He counted the stone doors around them: there were seventeen in total.

The female Cultist led Chen Yan carefully to one of the doors. She stopped several meters away from it, not daring to get closer, and said in a timid whisper, "Th-this door leads to Lord Sacrificial Priest’s place of Cultivation. Every time he goes in to Cultivation, he won’t come out for many days—three to five days if it’s short, and if it’s long, it can be several months."
