Chapter 460: Eric

I am so embarrassed as she walks away.

"I am sorry," I try to tell the man.

"No, no, young man." He waves a hand. "Your sister-in-law is right. I suggest going on the haunted house, then that ride. Do not miss the pop-the-balloon games."

He looks at us eagerly, and I reluctantly walk away with him.

It is loud. Really loud here. It is also overstimulating with the constant yelling and laughter and screaming and multiple scents of food, humans, sweat.

But it is beautiful to see. Humans are the most peculiar. Just as much as they are a cancer to the earth sometimes, their inventions, their lives, are beautiful.

Because a wolf would not think of this.

"Let us go to the haunted house," Gray says.

I look at him.

"It is better than us just standing around," he adds.

"Yeah," I say. "It is."

We walk in the direction the man pointed.

Daphne

I leave my family behind and drive to the airport myself. That is why we took two cars. Technically, I am not driving.

The System is.

I sit on my phone as the GPS screen has a purple display with an emoji face.

[^_^]

"I like how useful you are now," I say.

The face on the display turns into half moons and speaks.

[Of course, Host. I had my upgrade. It is just that we have been to worlds not technologically advanced, so I have not been able to show my capabilities.]

"Yes, yes." I wave a hand. "Sorry for doubting you, 404."

The display blinks and doesn’t speak anymore.

I see them. Rylan is behind, dragging four huge suitcases, and a girl with blonde hair and designer clothes walks in front of him.

Of course. Unlike the wolves here, the wolves there are extremely wealthy, and some even have government positions.

She immediately sees me and walks my way.

"Miss Han, hello," she says.

I shake her hand.

"For a pregnant wolf, you are looking quite lovely, Clarrissa," I say.

She wraps an arm around mine as I guide her.

"I always look good," she says.

Rylan follows behind us like he is staff.

His fault. Of all the wolves, he just had to go for Miss Princess herself?

I do have business happening with her pack and father. That is when I met her. She was crying for a ticket to a VIP Paris fashion show, and her dad had to spend a pretty penny to get her there.

There’s no way Miss I-Have-to-Have-Everything did not mind that her baby daddy is mated.

I think this is a subtle plan made by her father. Because for the wolves, they have money, yes, but not the population. I am 99% sure they baby-trapped him to have access to his pack.

After all, to the European wolves, these wolves here are free-for-all, in a way.

Well, I am just here for the drama.

I guide her to the car.

"Wow." She looks at the huge black SUV. "How do you have this? My brother tried and could not. They say there were just ten cars released."

"Well, I have my ways." I open the door for her. She gets in.

Then I go help Rylan with the bags.

"I did not tell you to go and get someone pregnant," I whisper.

"I did not expect this to happen either," he whispers back, looking terrified.

"Well, at least you are not alone in your predicament," I say.

He looks at me confused. I smile cryptically.

"Let us go," I say.

I start the car.

"Remember when you get back," I say, glancing at him in the rearview mirror, "I think it is best you meet the Alpha of Shadowclaw before anyone else."

"Kai?" he asks.

"Yes." I merge onto the highway. "I think you two will be able to understand each other."

He is quiet for a moment.

Then he speaks.

"What do you mean?"

"You will see," I say.

I smile.

This is going to be entertaining.

Elara

My mate is mischievous. She is like a god of chaos in a way. When her eyes sparkle like this, I know she is up to no good—or something is about to happen. Lyra is like this too.

Her tail is flicking from side to side from our bedroom window as she watches something outside.

I narrow my eyes and walk closer to the window to see what she is looking at. I see two of the Luna’s mates deep in conversation.

I grab her tail.

She jumps and looks at me.

"What are you doing?" I ask.

"Observing," she says.

"Observing what?" I ask.

She grins and pulls me by my waist. "You know about how that poor wolf is pregnant for him?"

She points at the dark-haired Alpha.

"Yes." I frown. "Diana. It is unfortunate."

I think about the little pregnant wolf. She is young. Too young. And now she is carrying the Luna’s mate’s child.

"Why do you think Clarrissa is here?" she asks.

I think about the blonde wolf that has settled into the house. Luckily, this house is huge—with eight different bedrooms and state-of-the-art technology, thanks to Daphne—so there was room that was acceptable for the spoilt wolf to sleep.

"Is she not a guest for cultural exchange?" I ask.

"Did you notice anything about her?"

"Apart from how... entitled she is?"

Daphne laughs.

"Think again."

I think about the blonde wolf, trying to remember—

"She smelled like a pregnant wolf," I say.

And then I gasp.

"No."

"Yes."

"Nooo."

"Yes." Daphne says again.

I choke out a laugh in disbelief.

"You mean... two of the Luna’s mates have other wolves pregnant?" I ask, looking at the two Alphas deep in conversation.

"It seems so," she says.

My eyes open wide. This is... incredibly entertaining.

I move closer to the window to watch too.

Kai and Rylan are standing in the garden, their heads bent together. They are too far to hear, but I can see their body language—tense, guarded, conspiratorial.

I do not know how the Luna is going to take this information. But at least she will have things to think about. And hopefully, my mate will leave her mind after this.
