Chapter 3560: Medusa (26)
Chapter 3560: Medusa (26)
Athena’s body no longer carried her aura, but her heart was still beating.
The current Athena was dead. Perhaps as time passed, a new Athena would be born, also named Athena, but her personality would be different. She would be an entirely new god.
This was ridiculous. Cheating like that shouldn’t be allowed. Even though the process might take a long time, Ning Shu didn’t want another Athena popping up.
Even if it were a new Athena, she would likely inherit the previous one’s will. If that will involved destroying humanity or an obsession with killing her, it wouldn’t be good.
A dagger made of energy appeared in Ning Shu’s hand and she cut straight into Athena’s skull.
The divine body was incredibly tough.
Athena’s head was a bloody mess, like golden watermelon juice. The power of the needles had destroyed her skull.
Ning Shu reached into the mess to fish for something. She pulled out a crystal-clear, irregular object that looked like a magnificent gem.
Ning Shu looked at the object. This had to be the godhead, the vessel for a god’s power and will.
Ning Shu gave it a squeeze. It was very hard.
Ning Shu scoffed. Using all her strength, she squeezed the godhead as hard as she could.
A crack appeared, and then a web of fractures spread across the entire godhead. Finally, with a soft cracking sound, it turned to powder.
With the godhead annihilated, Athena’s body also vanished. It turned to ash.
At this point, the goddess Athena had completely fallen. She no longer existed in this world.
Without the will of the godhead, her divine power gradually dissipated.
The dark clouds in the sky slowly parted. Sunlight shone on the ground, incredibly bright. Ning Shu shielded her eyes with her hand. The light was so intense it was hard to bear.
The shaking ground grew still. Everyone was left in a daze, confused and helpless.
Eventually, waves of wailing and crying broke out.
Ning Shu turned to look at the Temple of Athena. Without divine protection, the temple looked dull and diminished. Ning Shu felt like she could blow it over with a single breath.
Ning Shu stretched. That was one problem solved.
Wait, no. She had dealt with two. One was Medusa’s problem and the other was Perseus. Now only Poseidon remained.
Now that the people directly involved had been dealt with, the indirect ones would start appearing.
She might have to face the entire assembly of gods on Mount Olympus.
Oh boy!
When that massive crowd showed up, Ning Shu felt like her legs might actually start shaking.
Ning Shu hovered in the air, looking down at the desolate ruins of Athens. She shouted, “Athena is dead. This city is no longer habitable. The gods might punish the people here, so everyone should run!”
The place was already a wasteland. Rather than rebuilding, it was better to move elsewhere.
She knew from Athena that gods’ anger was completely irrational. Just because Ning Shu was human, Athena had wanted to wipe out every person in Athens. It was ridiculous.
When Zeus arrived and saw his daughter had been wiped out—and by a poisonous ant, no less—he would surely set the whole anthill on fire.
The people of Athens were terrified. Hearing Ning Shu’s words, they didn’t have time to understand what had happened. They only knew their patron goddess was dead.
Fearing divine punishment, they packed their bags and fled.
They scrambled out of Athens like ants.
Ning Shu sat on the giant dragon and headed toward the sea.
On her way to find Poseidon, Ning Shu practiced compressing her power into needles while thinking about how to kill the gods.
She realized that gods’ life force was truly powerful. They could even be reborn. Although a reborn god might not be the same person and their personality might change, the divine office would still exist.
They might even inherit the previous one’s will.
Therefore, she had to completely annihilate their godheads and destroy their divine bodies to make them vanish from this world.
She wondered if she could use the needles to directly blow up a godhead or pierce right through it.
However, the godhead was inside a god’s mind, so it was impossible to pinpoint its exact location.
If she could make the needles accurately target the godhead, she could annihilate it.
She wanted to create the maximum amount of attack power with limited resources. Also, after she left, this could become a technique for Medusa. It would allow Medusa to survive and prevent others from targeting her so easily.
Medusa really had a miserable life. When someone was that unlucky, they couldn’t even find peace in death. After Perseus beheaded her, he used her power to build a kingdom, and she finally ended up as a source of power on Athena’s shield.
Anyone who looked at the aegis would turn to stone. That was Medusa’s power.
They even had the nerve to say they were doing Medusa a favor by ending her cursed life and calling Perseus a great hero.
Screw that.
When Ning Shu passed through a town, she bought some parchment and ink. She bought these items to write down some talismans. Some types of ink were magical, and anything written with them would never fade.
Besides gods, there were witches and all sorts of magical creatures in this world.
Of course, none of them were as noble as gods.
The ink Ning Shu bought was magical. Oh, you might ask where she got the money.
Haha, the Temple of Athena had more gems than you could count. Just prying off a few would make her a fortune.
After Ning Shu left Athens, a person appeared above the ruins of the temple.
This person sat in an exquisite chariot, looking down at the ruined city and temple with a frown.
He tried to sense Athena, only to find she was completely gone. The goddess Athena no longer existed in this world.
Athena was actually dead?
Zeus looked very serious in his chariot. He used his powers to see what had happened during the battle.
The scene of the fight between Ning Shu and Athena appeared before him.
When he saw Ning Shu crush Athena’s godhead, he couldn’t help but furrow his brow. Thunder crackled in the sky and dark clouds gathered. Zeus was angry.
Athena was one of the twelve Olympians. She was the goddess of war and the goddess of wisdom, and she held many other titles.
In the patriarchal pantheon, she was a female god who held a pivotal position among the deities. She was incredibly capable.
But now she had been killed by a human. Moreover, she had been completely annihilated. This made Zeus very angry.
Furthermore, although Athena was a woman, she strictly enforced Zeus’s will. Having sprung from Zeus’s own head, she was an extension of him.
She was the continuation of Zeus’s thoughts and will.
Zeus let out a cold snort. The entire city of Athens shook violently as cracks appeared in the ground, swallowing the city whole.
