Chapter 1534: Chapter 1523: Revenge for My Sister
Zhan Hui was restless at home for several days. His current wife, Li Zihui, expressed dissatisfaction with his pace of work. After two days of cold remarks, she unexpectedly received a strange file in her email. Opening it out of curiosity, she found, to her surprise, the transaction records from years ago, where she had transferred money to the teachers of Li Zhihua.
Li Zihui immediately broke into a cold sweat. How did others know about this? The teachers, who accepted bribes, certainly wouldn’t dare to speak. Even if they wanted to, how could they disclose such things together and expose their bank records?
Apart from her, only her husband and niece Li Zhihua were aware of these facts. Her niece had always been close, telling her everything directly. But her husband, impossible. Thinking about her husband’s recent odd behavior, Li Zihui became more cautious.
The next day, Li Zihui discovered that familiar ID again. Nervously, she opened it to find a recording. The voice was unmistakably her husband’s, talking about how he had made a lot of money over the years and expressing the intention of passing this wealth on to Ye Qiu. Li Zihui’s face turned cold.
She realized that someone might be scheming against her family, but the words weren’t false, leaving Li Zihui doubtful.
The document also contained a sentence: Miss Li, you always appear so strong, yet does your husband truly care for you?
Li Zihui pressed her lips together. How could she not notice her husband’s usual reserved demeanor? But would he really dare hide his assets from her?
Regardless, Li Zihui decided to investigate. She wouldn’t allow her husband to escape her control. When he joined her years ago, he had nothing. Everything they achieved today was thanks to her. Her husband’s entire wealth could only belong to their son in the future!
"Better watch out, Li Zihui has started investigating you." This message suddenly appeared on Zhan Hui’s phone, startling him. After reading it, his face darkened, though he held doubts about the message’s intention, yet he became more alert.
Zhan Hui and his wife had been relatively loving over the years. Initially, he thought the message was just a prank, but to his surprise, the next day, his wife indeed sought someone to investigate his private assets, invoking his fury. Does she really distrust him so much?
When he married Li Zihui years ago, he had nothing, not a single achievement, only labor, during these years. Is she trying to control him entirely, not even affording him a bit of freedom and space?
Zhan Hui took a deep breath. Given the situation, he might have to plan for himself.
Ye Qiu never imagined that a small gesture on her part would drive this couple apart emotionally. She enjoyed setting this drama into motion. The investigation, asset concealment, were they still the closest of couples?
Yet, what surprised Ye Qiu further was discovering a medical report for their son on Li Zihui’s computer. The report made her laugh.
Zhan Hui was blood type O. Li Zihui was AB, yet their son, Zhan Enci, was also O. Isn’t this absurd? Ye Qiu printed the medical report and arranged to meet Zhan Hui.
With calm composure, Zhan Hui looked at her, his expression gentle: "Have you regretted it? No matter, I’m your Father, and can still help you."
"Mr. Zhan, I’ve come with good news." Ye Qiu, schadenfreude in her gaze, watched him while Zhan Hui sensed an impending bad omen.
"Take a look at this. Your family’s medical reports." Ye Qiu placed the three reports in front of him, sipping tea as she waited.
She waited, yet no anger erupted from Zhan Hui. Confused, she looked up.
"What do you mean?" Zhan Hui frowned at her, "Our family is quite healthy."
Ye Qiu stared at him in disbelief: "You truly didn’t notice anything unusual?"
"Speak straight. I don’t have time to play games."
"Very well, I’ll be direct." Ye Qiu cleared her throat, "Look closely at your son’s blood type; have you not noticed anything odd?"
"What’s odd? Are you suggesting Enci isn’t my son? I’m O blood type, he is too; what’s wrong with that?" Zhan Hui said impatiently.
Ye Qiu laughed: "Seems like your studies didn’t stick. Here’s a basic fact: O and AB blood types can only produce children with A or B blood type, understand?"
Zhan Hui felt a shock within, could it be true? Aren’t children supposed to inherit from their parents? I’m O blood type, how can my son be O? He squinted at Ye Qiu; is she deceiving him?
Ye Qiu interpreted his thoughts and mocked with a smile: "Would I deceive you with something easy to verify? If you don’t believe me, you can inquire with the hospital’s doctor, or better yet, perform a paternity test directly with your son."
Upon reflection, Zhan Hui realized Ye Qiu wouldn’t need such a flimsy excuse to deceive him. But how did she know?
"Don’t concern yourself with how I know, Mr. Zhan. Having called him your son for countless years only to discover he’s not, shouldn’t you be angry? Li Zihui never truly regarded you, even now she sends private detectives after you. Aren’t you worried that all your life’s efforts will amount to nothing? After all, you alone can’t contend with the entire Li family."
Zhan Hui knew Ye Qiu was provoking him, yet lacked the energy for rebuttal. If his wife turned, accepting their son back with his biological father, would he have any standing left within the Li family?
Reflecting on his wife’s silent treatment these days, knowing she was investigating him, Zhan Hui felt waves of chill.
"Don’t doubt my intentions. I’m openly setting out to disrupt your relationship and dismantle your family. But this fault wasn’t my creation, Mr. Zhan, if you wish to continue playing the fool, wearing the cuckold, act as though we never spoke today!" Ye Qiu, half-grinning, clearly relishing the unfolding story.
With a grim expression, Zhan Hui felt as if his wife had played him for decades. Could he tolerate this any longer? No matter if Ye Qiu orchestrated this, he willingly stepped into this trap.
Noticing him deep in thought, Ye Qiu stood, offering her final cutting words before departing: "Assisting those who deceive you, who view you as a fool, betraying your own flesh-and-blood daughter, Mr. Zhan, may I inquire—what are your feelings now?"
Recalling Zhan Yao’s death, Zhan Hui’s fury intensified. For the sake of the Li family, he neglected his daughter’s death. Is this how the Li family repays him?
This marriage, he was determined to end. Li Zihui wouldn’t get a dime from him, and as for Li Zhihua, that vain, arrogant woman with no regard for elders, he was resolved to have her jailed.
