The double doors of the master suite slowly creaked open.

A tall, broad figure stepped into the dark bedroom. Alastair walked in, his jacket removed, his dark shirt unbuttoned at the collar. The soft room light hit his face, revealing a terrifyingly gloomy, expression.

He didn’t look surprised to see the room quiet. He didn’t look around for an intruder.

Instead, he walked with deliberate steps toward the side of the bed, his dark grey eyes fixed entirely on the small, sleeping form under the sheets.

He stood over her for a long moment, watching her chest rise and fall in a soft rhythm. Slowly, he sank onto the edge of the mattress, the bed dipping under his weight.

Alastair reached out his large hand, his long fingers gently caressing her warm, soft cheek, tracing down to the corner of her lips.

"My little mouse really thought she could escape from me, hmm?" Alastair murmured, a dark, raspy smirk touching his handsome face.

He had seen right through her clumsy acting during dinner. The way her dark eyes had flicked around the room, the overly sweet smile she gave him, the frantic internal calculations painted clearly across her innocent face- he knew every single bit of it. She had been playing nice just to buy time and run away from him the moment his back was turned.

The mere thought of her trying to slip out into the dark night, trying to vanish from his world forever, made a stormy rage deep inside his chest.

His hand slid down from her cheek, his grip tightening around her waist through the duvet, pulling her soft body right against his lap.

"You are so stupidly naive, Lyra," Alastair whispered softly near her ear, his breath hot against her skin. "Did you really think I would let you out of my sight after finding you? Even if you run to the ends of the earth, I will tear the world apart to drag you back. You are staying right here. Forever."

He leaned down, pressing his lips firmly against her soft hair, his dark gaze burning with an unhinged obsession that had completely taken over his mind.

Inside her unconscious mind, the System shuddered violently as a bright blood-red banner flashed across its internal vision.

Ding!

[ Darkened Value Warning! ]

Alastair Voss - Darkened Value: 89%... 91%... 93%!

[ AHHH! THIS IS A COMPLETE CATASTROPHE! ] the System whimpered in horror. [ His darkened value is spiking off the charts! I need to manually adjust the emotional suppression filters right now before he snaps completely! ]

Without waiting another second, the System hastily went offline, plunging its core functions into emergency background processing to force the dangerous red numbers down.

Meanwhile... somewhere far away across the city...

In a dimly lit private club located in the heart of the downtown district, smoke from cigars drifted through the air.

A heavy file was slid across the coffee table, landing right in front of a scary yet handsome looking man resting on a sofa.

"Boss, here it is," a scarred guard said, bowing his head respectfully. "Everything we could gather on the girl walking beside Alastair Voss today."

Gabriel Hart leaned forward, his sharp face coming into the light.

He picked up the thick folder with steady fingers, flipping it open to reveal a photo of Lyra standing near the executive lounge in her soft pastel floral dress.

Gabriel’s cold eyes scanned down the background check documents, reading through her profile details, her employment records at the estate, and her close interactions inside the mansion.

A sudden gleam flashed deep within Gabriel’s eyes.

"Lyra, huh...?" Gabriel murmured softly, his raspy, voice echoing in the quiet VIP room.

He stared at her bright, innocent face in the photograph, remembering how she had looked like a lost, fragile little fairy in the middle of Alastair’s brutal syndicate headquarters.

"So... she’s my sweet little sister’s best friend," Gabriel said, a dark, cruel smirk spreading wide across his face as he closed the file with a sharp snap. "Interesting. Very interesting."

He leaned back against the cushions, resting his chin on his hand as a ruthless, sinister scheme began forming inside his mind.

"Alastair Voss thinks he can hold my family hostage..." Gabriel chuckled darkly under his breath, his eyes glinting with pure villainy. "Let’s see how cool and composed he stays once I take his favorite little toy right out of his hands."

When the warm morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, Lyra stretched her arms and let out a long, lazy yawn. She had just experienced the deepest, most refreshing sleep of her life.

For a few peaceful seconds, her mind was completely blank.

Then, like a sudden bolt of lightning hitting her brain, reality crashed back into her head.

THE ESCAPE!

Lyra’s eyes snapped wide open in absolute horror. Oh my god, I fell asleep! I was supposed to rescue Elena and run away last night!

Panicking, she instinctively tried to leap off the mattress, but the moment she moved, a heavy, muscular arm wrapped firmly around her waist, completely locking her down. The grip tightened instantly, pulling her back flush against a solid body.

Lyra froze. Heart pounding loudly, she carefully, slowly turned her head... only to find herself staring directly into a, perfectly chiseled jawline.

She looked up. Silky black lashes framed a pair of deep, icy grey eyes that were already wide awake, watching her every move with a dark, unblinking intensity.

Alastair hadn’t been sleeping at all. He had been waiting. He knew the exact second she woke up, her first instinct would be to bolt.

Lyra swallowed hard, her gaze darting downward. His shirt was completely unbuttoned, revealing a broad, smooth, muscular chest right in front of her face. He had a long snake tattoo around his body..... Panicking, she quickly looked down at herself to check- thankfully, her pastel dress was still fully intact.

She took a shaky breath and tried to summon her fake, sweet persona again.

"U-Um... good morning, Boss!" Lyra squeaked out, forcing a bright, trembling smile. "You... you can let go of me now! I should go make your morning tea..."

"Stop with the act," Alastair interrupted.

His voice wasn’t loud, but it was so dangerously cold, deep, and raspy that the fake smile instantly froze on Lyra’s face.

Alastair slowly leaned down, his face lingering mere inches from hers. His breath was warm against her skin, but his dark grey eyes were full of a terrifying, possessive madness.

"You were never going to make tea," Alastair whispered smoothly, his fingers tracing her jawline with unsettling gentleness. "You were planning to leave me last night. You sat at my table, ate my food, smiled at my face... all while counting the minutes until you could run away."

The suffocating aura in the room was too much. Lyra couldn’t keep up the act anymore. The sweet, innocent mask completely shattered.

She pushed against his broad chest with both hands, her dark eyes flashing with genuine anger and fear. "So what if I was?! I’m not your maid, and I’m definitely not your prisoner! You can’t just keep me locked up here forever, Alastair! Let me go!"

A dark, low chuckle escaped Alastair’s throat- a sound devoid of any real humor. Instead of getting angry, he looked thoroughly mesmerized by her defiance.

"Let you go?" Alastair murmured, his hand moving to cap her neck softly, his thumb resting over her frantic pulse. "My sweet little mouse... I let you wander around my house. I took you to my office. I gave you everything you asked for. And yet, the only thing in your silliest little head is leaving me."

He leaned in closer, his lips almost touching hers as his raspy voice dropped into a dark whisper.

"You belong in this room, Lyra. With me. You are never stepping outside these gates again."

"You’re crazy!" Lyra yelled, trying to twist out of his hold. "System! System, wake up! HELP ME!"

Silence inside her head. The System was still completely offline, stuck in its emergency diagnostic loop to lower his darkened value.

A cold sensation clamped tightly around her right ankle.

Lyra’s breath hitched. She froze completely, slowly looking down toward the end of the grand bed.

Wrapped around her delicate ankle was a cold steel cuff. Attached to the cuff was a long, thin, metal chain that trailed off the edge of the bed, securely bolted into the massive reinforced leg of the solid frame.

Lyra’s dark eyes widened in utter disbelief.

"W-What... what is this?!" she shrieked, tugging hard at her leg. The cold metal clinked loudly against the floorboards, holding her securely in place. "Are you out of your mind?! You chained me?!"

Alastair calmly sat up, sliding his long legs off the edge of the mattress. He pulled his shirt back over his broad shoulders, slowly buttoning it up without taking his dark eyes off her trembling figure.

He stood up, towering over the bed like a shadow.

"Consider this a temporary lesson," Alastair said quietly, his voice smooth and cold . "You will stay right here in this bed until you learn how to behave. Once you accept that your place is by my side... I will finally let you roam free around the room."

"I hate you!" Lyra yelled, throwing a pillow straight at his back. "Unchain me right now, you psychopathic mafia bastard!"

Alastair caught the pillow effortlessly with one hand without even turning around. He set it down on a armchair, adjusted his cuffs, and glanced back at her one last time- his grey eyes burning with an intense obsession.

"Get some rest, Lyra," he murmured softly. "I will have your breakfast brought up shortly."

With a silent step, he walked out of the master suite, locking the double doors behind him with a click.

Lyra collapsed back onto the soft mattress, staring up at the grand ceiling in absolute horror. She pulled her leg up, staring at the cold metal chain locked around her skin.

"System..." Lyra whimpered into the empty room, her voice shaking. "...if you don’t wake up in the next five minutes, I am going to end up as a permanent ornament on this guy’s bed!"
