"Yeah, those gods were pretty well settled, I wonder why they would do such a thing. Collaborating with crooked, what pieces of shit." The other higher being shivered just at the thought of it.

To them, the crooked are the most disgusting thing in the world, a filth they wanted nowhere near their lives.

"They must have wanted more than they can chew, those trash gods. Thankfully now everything is resolved. And those heretics, they have been real silent haha"

The two chatted and laughed, their voices carrying easily across the quiet street.

They paused near the stairs of the temple where a beggar, completely wrapped in a blanket was seated, asking every passer by for money.

"Huh? Why does he look a bit familiar?" the two paused, but the face of the beggar was hidden so they failed to find anything.

Pausing beside the beggar who was clinging to their feet and begging, they gave him some money and started talking about their earlier discussion.

"Anyway, those ten people got really lucky. By the law, since the gods are gone, they will automatically replace them." The first guy said.

Instantly the other burst out laughing, he hit his thigh and spoke:

"I watched the whole war, you know I was sitting with my ex friend that sparrow, and he put everything on the line, even his body and bet all of that on the gods. Hahaha I just wonder where he is now and what his expression was when the gods lost."

"Sparrow?! I heard about him too, all his money, house, everything was taken. His wife ran away with someone else, he was almost captured to be worked till eternity but at the last moment he ran away somewhere." The other guy laughed as well.

Sparrow’s news had already spread all over the place, he had become a laughing stock after losing it all in one gamble, his name now a joke in every tavern.

The beggar was trembling upon hearing this, of course, this was none other than sparrow.

Who after losing everything, barely managed to secure his independence.

’Those damned cheaters, how can those ants defeat those gods?!! It was a complete scam SOB my money, my house, my wife... its all gone.’ Sparrow bite on the blanket, as he cried silently, his whole body trembling under the thin cloth.

"Huh? Why are you shaking again? You need some help? Let’s bring him to get some treatment, I heard there are people who are helping poor people." The first guy grinned.

The other also laughed and nodded, a look of evil in his eyes, already thinking of the payout.

But the beggar was shocked and frightened, he knew who was helping the poor people. It was the same group who was going to take him away for slaving.

These two were planning to sell him off to those people, so he can be used for dangerous explorations, mining special ores, and other such tasks, the kind no one willingly signed up for.

"Uwaaaah!" just thinking this, sparrow ran away hurriedly and the two followed, their laughter chasing after him.

A man walking by was surprised as he saw two men chasing a beggar, shaking his head, he continued towards his destination without getting involved.

"The world is really going down, now people are even trying to harm a beggar." The man sighed, then entered the temple.

"My Believers, are you ready to pray?" he asked, walking up to the podium.

All the men dressed in white robes with their hands clasped, some crying, some laughing, all began to shout at once, their voices blending into one chaotic roar.

"Bring it out!" the man said, gesturing towards two of the priests.

"Yes sir, mr Vespera." The priest nodded, then brought a big container towards the podium and gently put it down.

"You can leave." The man gestured, pushing back his long blonde hair.

He pushed back the hood, displaying the bright smile on his handsome face, his blue pupils shining under the candlelight.

This was the son of Fader Vespera, born to his second wife, younger brother of Evelyn.

And the current head of the Church.

Joel Vespera.

"Today, for our latest and greatest achievement, we are here for a feast!"

Everyone clapped and roared hearing this, their achievement wasn’t small after all, it took them so long to finally reach this step, years of quiet effort behind it.

The Church has finally become one of the pillar of the higher being realm along with other big organizations.

All under the rule of this leader, Joel Vespera.

"Serve it to everyone." Joel said magnanimously, as everyone took out their plates and waited hungrily for their servings.

Soon, the big container was brought over.

Inside, corpses of several bald men could be seen, stacked neatly as though prepared for exactly this.

They were cut in small pieces but few pieces like the head were left behind intact, these were monks who had been admitted to the church.

The priests then served pieces of the corpses to everyone and the higher beings were shaking as saliva literally flowed down from their mouth.

But they waited, until finally the head was served to Joel, their eyes never leaving it.

"Let’s begin the feast!"

Everyone cheered and started devouring everything voraciously, and joel also dug in.

Crunching sounds rang out as the skull was cracked then he pulled the brain and started eating it with great relish.

"Ahh~ My great buddha~ My benevolent buddha~"

Everyone chanted, their faces covered in blood and more, eyes wild with a twisted kind of devotion.

While outside the temple, everyone remained completely oblivious to it all, no one knew what Joel had transformed the entire Church into, it was more of a cult now.

...

In another part of the realm, the angry Dipper was pacing back and forth.

The commanders were seated on one side, feeling nervous, Vritra’s puppet was there too, silent and unmoving in the corner.

"Damnit Damnit! Who told you to go ahead and do it, you damned 9th!!" he cursed and almost felt like hitting the 9th commander, who had his head down.

But he didn’t attack him, since the commander had already been punished enough as it was.

"I am sorry, sir." the 9th commander mumbled.

"Sir, what are we going to do next? You just need to tell me and I will personally deal with that Evelyn!" Vritra said, his voice still brimming with anger, barely able to sit still.

’Tch this fool, all of them are useless. At least we can use him but trusting him completely would be foolish.’ Dipper thought, he doesn’t completely trust the other commanders still so how can he trust this new commander?

"We will wait, I have asked the insider, and we are waiting for-"

Just then he received some response, dipper walked away while chatting to someone.

’I wonder who this traitor among the Vespera family is.’ Vritra wondered, these people were really too cautious for their own good.

He really got lucky in framing the 9th commander, finding the plan in advance before it could unravel further.

"Hoo thankfully, we are safe for now." Dipper walked back with a smile, whatever his informant had told him, put him at ease.

"I heard there is going to be some big event in the near future in this realm, we will wait for now, while I wait some arrangements. For now, make sure none of you do anything, if I find, I will personally come to put you in the graves I have prepared for you." Dipper warned.

"What event?" Vritra asked naturally, keeping his curiosity carefully hidden.

"...That I don’t know yet, my informant is very cautious." Dipper shrugged.

’As if, this bastard is lying sigh’ Vritra felt disappointed but didn’t show it, and just nodded along.

"For now, return to your respective positions and lay low until I send you further messages." Dipper ordered.

"Yes lord!" the commanders all obeyed and walked out one by one, none daring to linger.

"You, wait a minute." Dipper said down and spoke to Vritra.

"Yes, sir?" Vritra paused then walked back and sat down, waiting.

"I am planning to send a marriage proposal to the Vespera house." Dipper said, as he poured some drink in a glass and asked Vritra if he want to drink.

Vritra refused, but was surprised upon hearing this, not expecting the offer at all.

’He wants to marry Evelyn too?’

"You want to marry-" but before Vritra could ask, dipper chuckled and shook his head.

"Don’t worry, I have no interest in Evelyn and no, its not for her. So don’t worry, you can kill her later on." Dipper saw the change in Vritra’s expression and mistook it.

He could doubt everything but knew for sure that Vritra hates Evelyn, that was not a surprise to anyone who knew him.

"Then?"

"I am sending the invitation to Fader’s other child, his son, Joel." Dipper answered, not hiding anything now that it no longer mattered.

"..." Vritra narrowed his eyes, he had heard about that half brother of Evelyn and knew that he is a piece of trash just like his mother who wants Joel to take over everything.

But why would they target that guy, of all people?

Is he the traitor? Or his mother?

Vritra then wondered why would dipper would be telling him all this, what does he want out of it?

"Why are you interested in that guy? Isn’t that better to eliminate them all?" he asked, looking really puzzled by the whole thing.
