Raising the Forgotten Snake Goddess with my Divine Faith System
Chapter 91: Ch 90: Taking for Myself - Part 1
Aiden knew that this was a trap. There was no other reason for demons to come inside the barrier unless someone specifically let them inside.
And yet, it was his duty to check out what was happening, so he could not dismiss it.
He arrived at the site where the demons had been sighted, but there was nothing here. No... that was not true.
There were clues left behind, but the demons themselves had been eradicated by someone using extreme force. It was clearly the work of a goddess.
"Is this some kind of gift? If so, then the giver sure had bad taste."
Aiden knew his tone was insulting, but that was what he wanted to convey. He was not trying to be friendly with anyone who was willing to tarnish his village or his goddess’s protection.
He did not get a reply for a whole minute before the air rippled, and then butterflies appeared from beyond the fog.
Those butterflies started to converge until they formed a human shape, and then a familiar person stood before Aiden.
"What is wrong? Are you too speechless at my entrance? Come on, you don’t have to hold back your words. You can tell me exactly what you think about me."
Goddess Paphelia brought up her umbrella, which was made up of butterflies as well. She was flexing her power as well as her existence in front of Aiden.
But he was not interested in giving her the time of day.
In fact, he did not care whether she paraded in front of him naked. The only interest he had in her was her activities in his territory.
"Goddess Paphelia, what are you doing here? You do realize this is Goddess Apophis’s territory as well, right? And you were banished from here."
Aiden reminded the goddess, only to notice her smile fading away from her face.
"Do you need to remind me of that fact? And to think we were just having such a grand time in each other’s company. You are truly breaking my heart here by saying all this."
Goddess Paphelia had no shame in saying all this when she was the one who was trespassing. So Aiden kept a calm look on his face, showing that he was indifferent to what was happening.
The goddess let out a sigh at Aiden’s actions.
"I cannot believe I fell for such a dull man. But I don’t mind. Once we are together for a while, you will learn to appreciate me a lot more. I am sure you will open up and become more active then. Now, let’s go—"
"Please understand that I have no intention of going anywhere with you, Goddess Paphelia. So there is no need for you to even try."
Aiden was firm in his decision, but he never turned his back toward Goddess Paphelia even when he rejected her request.
He noticed the slight shift in her position, which made alarm bells ring in his head.
"Ah, I see. What a pity. However, aren’t you mistaken about something?"
The goddess asked in a teasing voice, causing Aiden to flinch. He sensed her moving from right in front of him to his side, and he quickly turned toward her, only to not be able to block her attack in time.
"You think I am giving you a choice. Ah, I guess even you are affected by the disease called human arrogance."
Goddess Paphelia grabbed Aiden’s collar, and he chose to shoot at her point-blank, only for her face to break into butterflies.
"Oh, that’s cute. You think a toy like this will hurt me. I guess you have no idea what you are up against."
Goddess Paphelia whispered before Aiden grabbed her wrist and threw her away. The only reason it worked was because the goddess did not expect such a response. But he doubted such a thing would work a second time.
’Darn it! This is not working out at all. What should I do now?’
Aiden watched as the goddess landed on her feet gracefully, not having received any damage.
"You have a nice face, and you fight decently as well. The more I see you, the more I want you. So why don’t you give in and come work for me? I promise I will make it worthwhile for you."
The goddess promised as she skipped toward Aiden. He tried to aim at her, but she split herself apart into butterflies every time his bullet grazed her body.
’Darn it! This is so tough. Why can’t I hit her? Am I using the right gun?’
Aiden looked at the system screen, which showed that he was using the anti-god gun with the right bullets. But then why was it not having any effect?
"It looks like you are having a tough time against me. Do you want me to tell you why I am not taking any damage? Huh? Are you curious? I bet you are."
The goddess kept asking the same question in different ways, which was honestly impressive. But what was even more interesting was how she was able to convince herself that she was right.
Aiden truly wanted to shoot her and be done with it, but he had to show patience. He needed to know why the goddess was not taking any damage.
"Well, I won’t deny that you have a strong weapon, and it might hurt if you hit my real body. But this is just a doll for me to move my powers and consciousness around in. You will never be able to hurt me while I am in this."
Aiden’s expression became serious as he finally understood what was happening. This was not her actual body, but merely a vessel that she could control from a distance.
"So you are telling me that destroying this body is pointless?"
"Exactly! See? You are not as stupid as you look. I really like this expression on your face. It looks adorable.
Paphelia smiled brightly, seemingly pleased that Aiden had finally understood.
