Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 276: Ch 275: Who is reponsible?
"Fuck...this really hurts. Whatever that bitch did to me is making my chest feel like it’s on fire. I am going to kill her for this."
Elena shook her head as she took Lyra back to her room in Kael’s mansion. She was used to hearing the demon queen complain about this or that all the time, so this was nothing new to her.
But what was new was the lack of strength the demon queen showed.
Lyra was originally someone who liked to pretend to be weak to gain others’ sympathy. That had included Elena as well.
And while it had been hard for her to guess when she was acting at first, she had gotten pretty good at spotting her lies by now. That was why she could tell that Lyra was not acting this time.
She truly had no strength inside her body.
"Do you have any idea what happened-"
"Ugh, don’t even get started. It was almost as if my soul was being pulled out of my body this time. I tried my hardest to hold on to it, but it was of no use. In the end, that bitch got what she wanted. Happy now?"
Lyra’s explanation sucked, but Elena still had a feeling she knew what Lyra was not saying.
So for now, she kept dragging Lyra until the demon queen dug her heels into the ground and became stubborn in a way Elena had not expected her to.
"I want to see Kael. Please take me to see him right now."
The demand came out of nowhere, and Elena blinked as she looked at the demon queen with a weary expression.
"You want...to see Kael? In your condition? How about we head to him later once you have recovered a little?"
She asked, but Lyra refused to back down.
"Noooo. I want to see Kael. Take me to see him right now."
She was behaving like a kid who wanted to get her way. And Elena knew that she should not give in to the demon queen’s demands like this. But in truth, it benefited her as well.
She wanted to see Kael as well, so she pretended to bite her lip and think about the issue. And then, she nodded her head and decided that it would be for the best if she pretended to give in.
"Alright, we can go see Kael. But only for a minute."
Luckily, Lyra’s room was just beside Kael’s, and she opened the door to take a peek inside.
Kael looked like he was simply sleeping in the middle of the room, and his eyes fluttered once in a while. It felt nice to see him sleeping, and Elena decided that it was time to head back.
"Alright, we have seen him. Now, let’s let him rest...Lyra, what are you doing?"
Elena asked as she watched Lyra reaching for Kael’s face, only to flinch and stop at her words. Lyra blinked as she looked back at him and then at her own hand.
"Huh? What was I..."
She tried to recall what she had been doing and why she had reached for Kael’s face, but she could not recall why. She just knew that a longing had tried to take her over and she had resisted, only to fail at the last second.
Sigh
"It seems like you are far too tired. Let’s head back to your room for now. I am going to take care of you tonight."
Elena told her, and Lyra opened her mouth to protest before she closed it and nodded. Her instincts told her that this was the best she could hope for at the moment, so she was not going to argue about it.
They noticed Iris heading toward Kael’s room on their way out. She held some food and drinks in her hand, which assured Elena that Kael would be well taken care of.
It was a pity that she wouldn’t be able to care for her beloved with her own hands, but she trusted Iris to take care of Kael.
...
Iris watched both Lyra and Elena heading toward Lyra’s room, and she felt tense.
Somehow, she did not like how close Lyra’s room was to Kael’s while both hers and Seraphina’s were a little further away. But it was because of the timing of when they had acquired the rooms.
Lyra had gotten hers when she had been cursed and Kael needed to keep an eye on her. So there was no need to be jealous of her...
But human emotions did not work that way, and Iris could only hope that this irrational jealousy would go away one day.
For now, she was the only one who would get to spend time with Kael, and that made her happy. She opened the door to Kael’s room and put the tray beside him.
"I don’t know if you can hear me or not, but I do hope you wake up soon. Things are just not the same without you around. To think we just met after a two-year separation and then all this happened."
The separation had been more like one year and eight months, which was more like two years at this point.
Her words went unheard as Kael kept sleeping, but Iris kept smiling at him and reached out to grab a snack from the tray.
She nibbled at it before she put it away and spoke again.
"I hope you wake up soon. I really like you...no, I love you, and I want to confess to you properly. I already know that you won’t accept it, but as long as you say you do not feel disgusted, I will take it."
Confessing to an unconscious Kael felt easier than confessing to a Kael who was awake. There was less pressure, and she knew that she wouldn’t get rejected.
But still, a part of her felt sad that she was not able to confess to Kael when he was awake. She was sure he would have rejected her, but maybe there was a chance he wouldn’t have...
Little did she know that Kael was already awake, but he was pretending not to open his eyes at the moment.
