Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 327: Ch 326: Knowing what we lost - Part 2

Lyra took them to the demon world for the next phase of her plan. Iris had no trouble following her, but Seraphina had to make up a ton of excuses to be able to take this trip.

The temple was not happy with her decision to head to the demon world and kept asking her useless and stupid questions, like when she would be back and what she would be doing there.

Seraphina failed to see how it was any of the temple’s business what she did in the demon world. But those bastards saw her as their property and had to keep an eye on her.

In the end, Seraphina decided to just tell Leon, and he decided to disappear as well for now.

No one wanted to be subjected to the temple’s annoying scrutiny. At least, not at a moment when they all felt confused and unstable.

"You did well. Those who do not treat you well do not deserve your presence. I am happy to see that you have finally accepted this as truth."

Lyra patted Seraphina on the back while Iris looked a little more concerned about the whole matter.

"Saintess, I know that this is what you want and that this is something you have decided, but are you sure about this? The temple is your home, and—"

"I know. But recently... rather, after the battle, it no longer feels like home. I also don’t feel anything abandoning them."

The temple had not been the happiest place for Seraphina. It would not be wrong to say that it was, in fact, the unhappiest place in her memories.

But it was also the place that helped discover her talent as the Saintess. It was because of them that she was able to awaken...

’Wait! How did I awaken? It was to save someone... but why?’

Her mind drew a blank when she tried to think about her past.

No, not only that, but it also made her head hurt. Her instincts were telling her that she should not look into it.

But Seraphina was stubborn, so she kept pushing forward. She felt like she could see the memory if she just tried.

The fog slowly started to clear from her mind, but the truth chilled her to the bone.

What she saw was a familiar man’s silhouette, but it started to change as soon as she got closer. She watched as that man morphed into Leon, and her own past self awakened to save him.

"No, this is not right! I am certain it was not Leon. I did not awaken before Leon. So why is this memory..."

The answer was simple—the world did not want her to recall that person, so it changed the memory.

Seraphina suddenly felt a strong sense of regret filling her from the inside.

This was the last thing she wanted when she tried to recall her memory. In fact, this was the opposite of what she was trying to do.

But this world... it still kept pushing her back and making her regret her choices.

"Why is this happening to me?"

She wanted to yell at the top of her lungs and demand justice. But before she could, she felt someone grabbing her arm and pulling her behind them.

She blinked and looked at Iris and Lyra. The one dragging her was Lyra, the demon queen.

"Tsk, just what are you getting so lost in? Can’t you tell that we don’t have time to waste here? We need to get going before anyone notices."

Lyra warned her, and Seraphina nodded. She realised that she had gotten a little too lost in her thoughts. She should have never paid attention to that memory in her mind.

"You are right. We should get going now... so, how do we get to the demon world without being detected?"

Seraphina asked, now curious. There were a lot of sword masters and Grand Magicians around, so using powers from this side was impossible.

But that was what made Lyra smile back at Seraphina.

"Ah, there is no need to worry about it. I already asked someone else to take care of our path. All we have to do is walk into it once the door opens."

Lyra confirmed this, and the second she did, the portal opened up in front of her.

The power inside felt familiar, but Seraphina could not put her finger on who it was.

"Hey, I do not mean to sound concerned, but do you have any idea who the person behind this portal is? It feels... ominous for some reason."

Iris asked in a concerned voice. Her eyes kept looking at the portal in front of her, which only made Lyra chuckle.

"This portal was made by a trusted subordinate of mine. Don’t worry, that person is... huh? I cannot recall who she is or how I know her. But I have a feeling you all know her as well."

Iris and Seraphina exchanged a confused look, neither of them seeming particularly reassured by Lyra’s sudden uncertainty.

The portal continued to ripple in front of them, its surface shining with a faint golden light that felt strangely familiar, although none of them could remember where they had encountered that particular kind of magic before.

"Wait a second! If you cannot remember who created it, then how can you be certain that it is safe?"

Seraphina said, narrowing her eyes at the portal.

Lyra’s expression immediately became a little awkward.

"Well, I am not completely certain that it is safe, but I do remember trusting the person who made it. That should count for something, right?"

"I am not sure that is very reassuring."

Iris replied, her hand moving toward the hilt of her sword.

Lyra clicked her tongue and looked away.

"You two are being far too suspicious. Besides, if the person behind this portal wanted to harm us, they could have simply left us hanging. I am entering, the rest is up to you. Come with me if you want to find out the truth."
