Chapter 1550: Stop Being So Jumpy

Benjamin Shaw got seriously injured while trying to save her, leaving Alice Turner feeling heartbroken and burdened. Thankfully, the surgery was successful; otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to explain to his parents.

"Alice! What exactly happened? How did Benjamin get hurt? Are you injured?"

Earlier, while Alice Turner was waiting at the surgery room door for Benjamin Shaw, a nurse saw her hands covered in blood and kindly offered her some wet wipes. She used them to clean the bloodstains from her hands.

At this moment, she only had a small amount of blood on her clothes, with no bloodstains found elsewhere.

When Thomas Fisher came up, he saw the bloodstains on the front of Alice Turner’s clothes. He reached out to straighten her clothes for a closer inspection and was relieved not to find any injuries on her.

Thomas Fisher had been under the impression that Alice Turner had been in a car accident but was shocked and deeply worried upon hearing her say someone tried to kill her.

Thomas Fisher’s exclamation drew attention from those around them; Alice Turner reached out and patted him, "Don’t get so startled."

Being targeted for murder is no good thing, and his shouting made it seem like he wanted everyone to know.

"Got it."

After Alice Turner’s pat, Thomas Fisher realized he overreacted earlier and raised his right hand silently, assuring her: I promise I won’t make the same mistake again.

Alice Turner understood Thomas Fisher’s silent promise, but she didn’t say anything further. She focused on one thing: completing Benjamin Shaw’s hospital admission procedures.

Once Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher paid and completed the admission procedures, they rushed to the ward. Benjamin Shaw had already been transported there by the nurse and was still unconscious due to the effects of anesthesia.

Perhaps due to the surgery, Benjamin Shaw’s complexion wasn’t as pale as before, but he still didn’t look good.

Seeing her once lively son lying quietly with eyes closed on the hospital bed, Isla Lane felt sharp pangs of pain, tears streaming down her face.

Alice Turner’s apology shocked the four conscious people present, who quickly turned to look at her.

Though their expressions varied, their gazes shared a silent inquiry into what really happened.

Alice Turner was about to explain everything when a nurse led two police officers through the door.

Seeing the police, everyone except Alice Turner was taken aback.

"Which of you is Alice Turner?"

The taller officer asked the group, his question accompanied by a back-and-forth scrutiny between Charlotte Shaw and Alice Turner.

Alice Turner approached the officer, voluntarily acknowledging her identity, "I am Alice Turner."

"Please, come with us."

The tall officer who had asked the question signaled Alice Turner to step outside with them, indicating the ward was not a suitable place for questioning.

Alice Turner followed the officers out of the ward, with Thomas Fisher quickly trailing her out of concern.
