Chapter 1657: Honey! I Didn’t Lie to You

  • Next Chapter

Alice Turner couldn’t hold her liquor; she’d only had half a glass. Autumn York, on the other hand, could drink pretty well, but she hadn’t had much either—just a little more than Alice. Later, when father and son both got drunk, she and Alice would have to take care of them together.

Cedric Fisher and his son Thomas Fisher were both especially happy today. On a day this joyful and special, the two of them drank to their hearts’ content.

The result of drinking to their hearts’ content was only one thing: father and son both got drunk.

Autumn York and Alice Turner had known it would end like this. Each woman supported her own husband as they left the restaurant.

"Mom! Where’s Thomas’s room?"

Supporting Thomas as they walked out of the restaurant, Alice was coming to the house for the first time and had no idea where to go, so she had no choice but to ask Autumn, who was walking ahead.

Hearing Alice call her, Autumn turned her head to look at her, then raised a hand and pointed toward the second floor. "Go up to the second floor, turn left, the third room."

"Oh."

With the directions, Alice helped Thomas upstairs. The drunk man clung to her like an octopus.

Because of years of training, she was much stronger than the average girl, but she was still a woman. Half supporting, half dragging the man, by the time they reached the corner of the second floor she was honestly too exhausted to take another step.

"Damn man! You don’t look fat, but you’re heavy as a dead weight. Are you trying to kill me?" Alice propped Thomas against the wall by the stairs, planning to catch her breath for a moment, when she suddenly felt the world spin.

Before she could react to what was happening, she fell into a warm, familiar embrace.

The man who’d been clinging to Alice like an octopus was now leaning back against the wall, holding her tightly in his arms.

"Thomas Fisher! So you were faking being drunk to trick me!"

Given what had just happened, the first thing that came to Alice’s mind was that Thomas was pretending to be drunk to fool her, and she glared at him furiously.

"Shh! Quiet!"

Thomas had indeed had a lot to drink, but he wasn’t so drunk he didn’t know anything. Other than feeling woozy, his other senses were still working; he’d just heard her say she was tired.

If he could still tell her to be quiet, clearly he really was putting on an act.

Alice was sure Thomas was faking it and, angry, she raised her fist and thumped it against his chest, instantly switching into violent-girl mode. "You annoying bastard, how dare you lie to me—let’s see how I beat you up today."

"Honey! I’m not lying to you, I really did drink too much. If you don’t believe me, just look at me."

Thomas gazed at Alice with drunken, hazy eyes; in his dizzy state, he was seeing double when he looked at her.

He shook his head a few times, but that woozy feeling didn’t lessen at all—in fact, it only got worse.

Alice stared at Thomas for a long moment. On the surface he didn’t look drunk at all, but then she remembered how much he’d had to drink just now, and for a second she honestly couldn’t be sure.

"If you’re not lying to me, then hurry up and let go so I can help you back to your room." Whether he was drunk or not, she’d get him back to his room first—then she could finally rest.

"Aren’t you tired? Take a break before you help me back to my room." Instead of letting her go like Alice wanted, Thomas tightened his arms around her, holding her even closer to him.

This guy! He was absolutely doing it on purpose!

Alice lifted her hands, about to pry off the arms wrapped around her, when she heard a phone ringing in Thomas’s pocket.

She fished the phone out of his pocket, and when she saw the caller ID, she froze for a second.
