RE: LORD OF TIME
Chapter 204: Taboo
Heavenly Realm....
Tap! Tap! — — — —
The sound of footsteps echoed inside an empty hallway as an old man wearing a long white robe and holding a crystal scepter in his hand hurriedly walked forward.
Soon, the old man reached the end of the hallway and arrived before a closed door.
Without knocking, he opened the door and stepped inside.
It was a medium-sized room with minimal furniture and without any fancy decorations.
At the side of the room, near the window, a middle-aged man with long black hair and uncommon gray-colored eyes was sitting, looking out at the setting sun.
"Franklin," The old man called out as he walked over to the man. "Have you found out anything about the phenomenon that occurred some time ago?"
Franklin, the man sitting on the chair slowly pulled his gaze away from the setting sun and looked at the old man.
Being stared at by those gray eyes, the old man felt uncomfortable, as if all of his secrets were being seen by the man before him.
Franklin stared at the old man for a few seconds before shifting his gaze back to the setting sun.
"I tried, but the fate of the person who caused that commotion is completely unpredictable. I can’t find anything about him."
Lucius, the old man, frowned upon hearing Franklin’s words.
"Even you can’t see anything about him?"
"It’s not surprising," Franklin spoke calmly. "There are many things in this world that I can’t see. The fate of this person is just another one of those things."
Lucius remained silent at Franklin’s words as if he was thinking about something.
He showed a hesitant expression for a moment before a look of determination appeared on his old face.
"What if you use a powerful medium? Can you find anything about him then?"
Franklin raised an eyebrow in surprise and looked at Lucius.
"You mean..." He didn’t finish his sentence, but Lucius understood what he was asking and nodded.
He stretched out his hand, and a golden feather, gleaming with light, appeared in his palm.
"A fallen feather from the God Of Light..." Lucius spoke seriously. "Do you think you will be able to find anything about him if you use this?"
Franklin stared at the feather for a few seconds before shifting his attention to the old man.
"Are you sure you want to use this? Even with your status as Supreme Pontiff, it’s not easy to get something like this."
Lucius sighed upon hearing Franklin and shook his head.
"The situation is more serious than you think. That phenomenon actually affected multiple Realms, and the effects were similar. We need to find the reason behind it, or it might cause a huge problem in the future."
"Multiple Realms..." Franklin was taken aback by Lucius’s words, and a look of surprise appeared in his eyes.
He thought for a moment before nodding.
"Alright..." He took the golden feather from Lucius. "Using the bit of divine force inside this feather, I should be able to get some information."
He paused for a moment before looking back at Lucius.
"Also, you know what I want after completing this task, right?"
Lucius’s expression remained unchanged at Franklin’s demand, and he nodded.
"I have already arranged everything. They will send some women to you."
Franklin smiled and nodded.
"Make sure they are young."
A look of disgust crossed Lucius’s eyes, but he did not say anything and simply nodded.
Franklin noticed the disgust in the old man’s eyes but didn’t care. He held the feather in his hand and stared at it intently with his ghostly gray eyes.
Suddenly, dark golden ripples appeared inside his pupils.
(You have used the Fate Eye ability of your Mythical Grade Trait, Eyes Of Fate)
The golden feather in Franklin’s hand suddenly turned into a stream of warm energy and rushed into his eyes.
The golden ripples in Franklin’s eyes intensified, and he slowly turned his head toward the side table.
On the table, a small piece of rock was placed.
It was the part of God Of Light’s statue that had shattered a few days ago.
Franklin stared at the small piece of rock and, through his Fate Eyes, tried to see the reason behind the collapse of the statue.
As he continued to look at the statue’s broken part, the golden ripples in Franklin’s eyes churned, and his vision shifted.
’I succeeded...’ Franklin was overjoyed when his vision changed, and he focused even more intently.
Soon, his vision cleared, and he found himself standing in a cave.
Franklin frowned and looked around, only to see two figures standing some distance away from him.
The figures of both people were very blurry, and he couldn’t see them clearly. But Franklin could tell that one of them was male while the other was female.
’Are these two people responsible for what happened at that time?’ Franklin thought and tried to see their faces clearly.
Just then, Franklin noticed a golden thread coming out from the head of the male figure.
’Line of Fate...’ Franklin was taken aback when he saw this and raised his head to see where the Line of Fate was going.
As he looked up, the ceiling of the cave disappeared, and Franklin was stunned to see that the Line of Fate coming from the male figure was going straight into the sky.
Just then, Franklin felt a stinging sensation in his eyes, and his eyes widened in horror.
Following the Line of Fate, he looked high into the sky and saw a colossal figure, a figure who seemed to be shrouded in a mist of chaos, standing high above the sky.
The size of that figure was so big that it seemed to cover the entire sky.
Standing in the midst of the mist of chaos, it looked as if a giant was looking down at the world.
What terrified Franklin even more was that the Line of Fate was directly connected to that colossal figure.
Just then, Franklin’s heart skipped a beat as he saw the eyes of that colossal figure suddenly shift slightly as it glanced at him.
The instant Franklin felt the gaze of the figure on him, endless horror surged in his heart, and the next second—
Bang! Bang!
Both of his eyes exploded.
"Arghhhh!" Franklin screamed in pain and fell to the ground.
Lucius, who was standing beside Franklin was stunned and hurried forward to help him.
"What happened?" He asked as he stretched out his hand to help him.
But midway through, he stopped and instinctively took a step back, his eyes showing a look of horror.
At this moment, Franklin was rolling on the ground because of the destruction of his eyes.
But unknown to him, strange green hairs were slowly growing all over him, and his entire body was deforming into something strange.
(You have glimpsed at a Taboo)
Some notifications that he couldn’t pay attention to because of the pain flashed on Franklin’s status window.
