Reader of the Novel’s Extra
Auxiliary Chapter – Character Glossary
[Lee Shin/Li Shu Wen]
Our protagonist. 17 years old by Korean standards. Actually 22 years old if going by his age from Earth. He's someone who read the Novel's Extra but stopped around the Tower of Wish arc and doesn't know how the story ends. Surprised that he got isekai'd, but vibing with it. His mother was the voice actress for Mulan in the animated film. An almost inhumanly skilled martial artist due to it being his way of stress relief from his corporate job back on Earth and the sheer number of reps he has done.
Lee Shin is meant to be read as 'Different Belief.' Has a complicated back story, both as Lee Shin and as Li Shu Wen.
The Co-author perceives that he exists, but does not understand what Lee is other than an 'anomaly' that appeared when the Co-author pulled Hajin into the world. Consquently, he is not in a situation like Kim Hajin where he has synchronized and taken someone's spot in the world.
Likes cute things.
His main goal is to enjoy a fun life with those he loves.
Has always liked Rachel, even when reading the Novel's Extra, and believes that she and Evandel deserved to be treated better than Hajin did in the story.
Because he unironically is more well-informed than Hajin due to both consuming broader reading material and general education level, the Co-author routinely cross-references things with what he says.
Trivia: His Perseverance is at 9 because he has contemplated ending his life on numerous occasions due to how hopeless his future seemed to be, but refrained each time and turned his life around.

[Rachel Elizabeth Louise/Rachel Elizabeth Pendragon]
17 years old by Korean standards. The heir apparent to the Kingdom of Britain, which includes Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and various associated territories.
Said by many to be the most beautiful young woman in the world. She also has her own fan club.
Prior to Cube, she was known as an aloof and cold beauty, but that was because she was diligently focused on honing everything she could. Due to her mother, the former Queen of England, dying while Rachel was a child, the pressure has been placed on Rachel to put the Kingdom of Britain back on the global stage.
That has completely changed since meeting Lee. Due to the fact that he was the only person who spoke to her in English at Cube, where the curriculum and people spoke exclusively in Korean, Rachel subconsciously became dependent on him. That dependence became admiration, affection, and then a deep love as they interacted and she realized two things: one, she felt relaxed around Lee, and two, Lee cared about her as a person, not as Britain's Princess and future Queen.
After Evandel entered their lives, Rachel has completely devoted herself to Lee and their small family, determined to even discard the throne if necessary.
Her Gift is unnamed in The Novel's Extra, but here it is [Attunement], an ability that allows adjusting her mana to match the ambient mana before using both in an attack.
Likes being able to depend on someone and handcrafted gifts. Also loves Asian food.
Although she trusts Lee unconditionally, because he is her first and only love, she resents anyone trying to step in on their bond.
Trivia: Because she loves reading romance, Rachel has always dreamed of a tall, muscular, and dark-haired knight who would sweep her off her feet. When she met Lee, even if he was a terrible person, she would have fallen for him on looks alone.
===
[Evandel Shin/Evandel Morgana Pendragon]
On paper, three years old by Korean standards. Her real age is ambiguous, but for all intents and purposes she's a toddler roughly around two years old.
In The Novel's Extra, Evandel the Witch was the guardian of the adaptive artifact Aether. She was killed by Hajin for Aether, which turned her into a Witch's Seed. Using that, Hajin revived her as a young girl through Rachel's blood that he took without her consent. Because of this, Evandel ended up looking like a young Rachel. And also because of this, Hajin denied Evandel from meeting Rachel for many years due to the complicated origin.
Here, Evandel the Witch wasn't killed, but instead freely given blood by Lee and Rachel, inheriting the blood of the Pendragon family as well as the blood of someone who goes against the flow of the world.
Consequently, due to many overlapping traits, Evandel can be considered as a composite soul of King Arthur, Morgan le Fae, and Lady Vivianne. Possessing the ability to manifest the true Excalibur from myth, bearing its sheath that grants immortality, and owning the Holy Grail that Arthur was said to search for as King, Evandel is destined to become the one who stands against the world's enemies.
Of course, she is still just a toddler, so that is a long way off.
Her Gift is [Cursed Sorcery - Fae Witchcraft], an ability that uses mana as ignition power to recreate proper sorcery from mythos and legend. It is deemed 'cursed' because it denies the nature of mana, which polluted Earth after the Outcall incident, and instead draws upon the power of the human spirit and emotions.
Likes chocolate, snacks, her parents, and making things.
Because of the fact that both her parents are remarkably talented, Evandel appears to completely understand the world around her. However, she's still just a toddler, so you can't really expect too much...
Trivia: Although unintentional, her current role in the story as well as her background is very similar to Aesc the Savior from Fate/Grand Order. She is the 'main character' of a story that does not yet exist, so those who seek to end the world cannot perceive her due to the world's protection.

[Chae Nayun]
Currently, heir apparent to the Chae clan. 17 years old by Korean standards. Widely known as the granddaughter of the Immortal Chae Joochul. A formerly skilled archer, now a god-tier archer due to input from Lee Shin.
Her Gift was originally something that simply gave her a massive pool of mana to work with. However, due to training with Lee, it has mutated to [Mana Amplification], an evolving Gift that allows using the self as a conduit for magic power and amplifying magical attacks.
In The Novel's Extra, she was a main driving factor for most of Hajin's actions, as well as suffered a great deal due to his obtuse and stubborn nature in regards to her.
Here, she is enjoying a peaceful and hopeful academy life by hanging out with Lee and Rachel.
Due to developing the evolving Art [Mana Radar], she has subconsciously stepped on the same path as her Grandfather by attuning herself to the way of the world.
Has kinda/sorta been adopted as Lee's younger sister and due to Evandel calling her Auntie Nayn.
Likes expensive things and cooking.
Her main goal is to save her Oppa and then live a fun life with her friends.
Because she never went through the misunderstanding drama with Hajin, she never cut her long hair.
Trivia: She once dreamed about being a devoted and graceful wife like her mother. Now she dreams about showing the whole world that archery is a complete way of combat. Love is the last thing on her mind, especially since she has all the time in the world. In short, she's practically Artemis.
===
[Kim Yeonha (formerly Yoo Yeonha)]
The daughter of Yoo Jinwoong and the young woman slated to inherit the guild leader position of Essence of the Strait, the number one Heroes Guild in the world. 17 years old by Korean standards.
She has a bad habit of coming to her own conclusions and refusing to change her mind about things. This is exacerbated by the fact that she is sharp, intuitive, and intelligent, meaning she is usually correct about things.
Before Cube, she was infamous as a cold and calculating beauty. She also had a crush on Shin Jonghak, finding value in his prestige and appearance.
All of that is gone now after meeting Lee. Due to the many, many, MANY compounding effects where Lee inadvertantly hyped Hajin up to Yeonha, she took an interest in him, saw his potential, fell in love, and thoroughly ruined herself by both marrying Hajin and giving him her everything.
Likes junk food, trashy dramas, and appearing refined.
Although it began as conditional interest and attraction, Yeonha now unconditionally loves Hajin. He could decide to burn the world to ash and she would just ask when they would start.
Trivia: Her intuition is actually 100% accurate, but she just sucks at interpreting it when it applies to things she likes. For example, she immediately knew that Lee and Rachel would be a thing from the first time she saw them. But while she called that Hajin's lot in life was 'having to be carried, literally and figuratively,' she didn't realize that she would be the one to do it.

[Kim Hajin]
The 'author' of The Returnee Hero, the story setting of the world they live in. The main character of The Novel's Extra, to story that Lee read. 17 years old by Korean standards. Actually in his mid twenties if going by his real age.
Although he is the same person from The Novel's Extra, due to having someone who supported him from the start of Cube, he gained a bit more confidence. In addition, by realizing that he was wrong on multiple things, such as firearms history, archery, and more, his god complex as the 'creator' of the world was forcibly shattered.
Unlike his counterpart from The Novel's Extra, Hajin believes the world is real instead of just a story, even if it lines up close to the one he remembered.
Also unlike his counterpart, Hajin fights mostly in close combat with his firearms, having developed a fighting style similar to a certain Baba Yaga.
Funnily enough, although Hajin has gained incredible amounts of SP due to how much the plot has derailed, he keeps forgetting to utilize it.
A major divergence from canon is that Hajin has awakened to a personal Gift, one that wasn't given by the Co-author's system or born from Kim Chundong. [A Creator's Resolve] basically gives him plot armor during major events and ensures that luck will always be on his side.
Likes working with his hands.
Trivia: The main reason that Hajin couldn't continue his story is because he unironically lacked the brain power to fix it. He takes the adage of 'write what you know' too literally and never tried expanding his realm of expertise. Thus, when met with the unknown, he froze and just ran away.

[Kim Suho/Eren]
The protagonist of The Returnee Hero. 17 years old by Korean standards. If including his past life, well over 30 years old mentally.
A former knight who once believed in becoming a hero. As an orphan in his previous life and home world of Akatrina, he clung to the ideal of becoming a defender of justice. After being trained by a former knight, that dream eventually became a reality.
However, because of certain events, Suho lost everything and killed the one he was supposed to protect with his own blade. The sword meant to save others was turned against its own ideal.
In this life, he was reborn to a pair of loving parents who named him Suho, meaning to protect.
Due to his training from his past life and his natural talent with a blade, he excels in swordsmanship.
Naturally kind, the most handsome (arguably) male cadet at Cube, and all around main character energy because Hajin designed him to be.
His Gift was originally [Sword Saint], something that gave intuitive abilities with the sword and the capacity to cut anything he put his mind to.
After being enlightened from sparring with Lee and resolving his past, it changed to [Sword that Cleaves Fate], adding onto [Sword Saint] by also granting the capacity to erase destined outcomes.
Likes older woman due to perceiving himself older than his physical age. Also likes chocolates.
When considering the three 'main characters' of Hajin, Suho, and Lee, Hajin is someone who will always roll a nat20, Lee removes the concept of luck while making everything a stat check, and Suho removes the possibility of negative outcomes.
In short, Hajin is a cheater, Lee is a munchkin, and Suho is a JRPG protagonist.
Trivia: Suho dyes his hair blue because it was blue in his past life. He also deliberately keeps his eyes blue with his magic power for the same reason. People think he's showing off, but its his way of honoring his past.

[Boss/Yi Byul/Yasha]
24 years old, and the leader of the Chameleon Troupe.
In The Novel's Extra, she serves as a key figure behind Kim Chundong's backstory and also ends up as the love interest for Kim Hajin, who took Kim Chundong's place.
Although hypercompetent at combat and a diligent worker, Boss is quite clumsy in her everyday life. She's terrible at technology without a very explicit tutorial and spends most of her brainpower on getting stronger or advancing the Chameleon Troupe's interests.
She idolized Yi Yeonjun, the former leader of the Chameleon Troupe, seeing him as her father. Because of that, when Bell, the former Seat of Black, betrayed the Chameleon Troupe by assassinating the former leader, she swore to dedicate the rest of her life to killing him.
Her Gift [Infinite Shadow (Boundless Afterimage)] grants her dominion over shadow itself. And when used to activate her unique ability [Yasha Transformation], she becomes nigh unstoppable.
A generally calm person who doesn't let much fluster or disturb her, she finally met her match with Lee, who breaks all social norms and conventions that she's accustomed to.
Likes spoiling people she cares about.
Trivia: She thinks that Lee is a regressor because she has recently gotten into reading web novels in her spare time. Unbeknownst to her, most of them are written by Lee under a pen name...
===
[Bell]
Age 700+. The former Seat of Black in the Chameleon Troupe.
A man who possesses the Gift [Magic Power Body] which makes his very body and being into pure mana. As a result, he is functionally immortal. This is so powerful that, even when infused with a Devil Seed of the strongest demon, he managed to not only retain his will, but exert dominance over his body.
Despite his age and immortality, Bell doesn't want to live, but instead wants to die. Having experienced a long life and seeing pretty much everything life has to offer, his main goal is simply to rest in eternal slumber. To that extent, he picked up Jin Sahyuk, whose Gift has the potential to kill him outright once it matures.
In The Novel's Extra, he serves as a mysterious figure leading to the end game of the story and its final antagonist. He also didn't kill Yi Yeonjun, but instead helped the man fake his death.
Here, things are different.
Lee, of course, does not know any of this since he never finished the story, and Hajin doesn't know this because as far as he can tell, Bell is a new addition by the Co-author.
Likes coffee.
Trivia: His Gift is the polar opposite of Lee's [Maverick], and his Physique is the polar opposite as well. [Magic Power Body] works by entrusting oneself completely to the rules of the world and thus becoming a practical law of nature. Consequently, the body becomes purely mana and cannot be destroyed unless all of that mana is eradicated. In contrast, [Maverick] works by rejecting the rules of the world as absolute and working outside of them with self-proving logic. Consequently, the world forbids the body from using mana at all because it treats Lee as a foreign body, akin to a virus. However, just like a virus, Lee can 'infect' the world with his logic to make things work.

[Jin Sahyuk/Prihi]
Hajin's intended final antagonist for The Returnee Hero. 17 years old by Korean standards.
In The Returnee Hero, Jin Sahyuk was a male and served as Kim Suho's foil, growing alongside him and clashing numerous times in the story.
The Co-author thought that the tension fit better if Jin Sahyuk was a girl and changed Jin Sahyuk and Prihi to be female.
A young woman with a complicated past. Like Suho, she was from Akatrina and reincarnated on Earth. In Akatrina, she had been the ruler and known as a tyrant.
However, the truth was that she was a young girl pushed into the role due to the various political intrigue, the fact that the world was facing its end due to the incursion of demons from the demon realm, and that her brother, the ruling king at the time, was turned into a devil.
Her haughty demeanor and arrogance isn't unfounded as she possesses incredible talent with combat. Furthermore, as the last ruler of her world, she clings to the role of a 'King.'
Beneath all of that, she yearns for her servant Kim Chundong who mysteriously vanished one day, her sole confidant while she was pressured on every side.
In the Novel's Extra, along with Bell, she plays a major role in the last arcs of the story.
Here... it's complicated.
Her Gift [Magic Arms] allows her to use her mana to create magical constructs. Upon evolving into [Reality Manipulation], it allows her to rewrite reality itself so long as she possesses sufficient magical power and mana to sustain the change.
The logic operates in a similar manner as Kim Suho's Gift in that if she believes she can change it, she will due to her right as a 'King,' similar to how if Suho believes he can cut it, he will due to his mastery of the blade.
Her very being refuses to even entertain conflict against Lee because she can sense the existence of [Maverick] and understands that a direct conflict would unravel her abilities by invalidating them.
Trivia: She secretly dreams of being a sweet princess being protected by her one and only knight, Kim Chundong. But because she is the last ruler of Akatrina, she quietly discarded her dream to seek its salvation.
