Chapter 506 - 197: A New Beyond-Version Event, Are You Ready? I’m Accelerating

And he’d also mentioned building more Neutral Cities. Huang Yi never would have guessed that one moment, Shen Fei was notifying Sun Yu, and the next, he was already passing right through the Divine Capital.

.

"Alright! You don’t need to worry about it! Just keep upgrading your [Detection Skill]!"

A few seconds later, Huang Yi, having come to his senses, calmed the shocked player who had made the report and told him to keep the information he had just detected confidential. At the same time, he also expedited the order to find more special areas within Great Xia’s borders.

"Holy shit!"

Then, less than half a day later, Huang Yi was stunned. He saw on the player Forum that a breaking news story had shot straight to the top of the trending list.

—A new Neutral City has appeared in the northeastern region of Great Xia!

A Neutral City had suddenly appeared, established in the perfect location. It was perfectly positioned in the northeast of Great Xia to secure and Command the entire region. Moreover, quite a few players were immediately sent through activated Teleportation Gates from their settlements to the newly appeared Neutral City, which had been named Ice City.

Then, before Huang Yi had much time to react, his personal panel suddenly opened, and lines of text scrolled across it:

[Ding!]

[Beyond-Version Event Triggered!]

[Number of special areas destroyed is greater than three...]

.

.

Not bad. Upgrading, building a city, clearing the land—all in one go...

In Great Xia, in the northeastern region that had expanded to a hundred times its pre-apocalypse size, Shen Fei finally arrived at his destination. After using the Teleportation Gate Tower for continuous teleportation, his scalp tingled, his back ached, his legs felt weak, and his mind was in a daze from the repeated journeys.

Previously, after destroying the two special areas closest to Qing City, he had made the decision to eradicate all special areas in Great Xia. Planning to proceed from north to south, he first used a Teleportation Array to travel from Qing City to the Divine Capital. Then, using the Divine Capital as a base, he used the Teleportation Gate Tower again, jumping round after round toward Great Xia’s northernmost region, the northeast.

Finally, after teleporting many times in a row, he reached his intended location. Upon arriving, he immediately used the new Hearts of the City from his inventory.

After using 50 Hearts of the City, a small Neutral City instantly rose from the ground. Unlike a few weeks ago during the Version 4.3 update, when the Neutral Cities descended from the sky, this time a city over three kilometers long and wide, matching the northeastern architectural style, appeared on the spot as if it were 3D-printed.

SWISH!

Shen Fei was incredibly familiar with Neutral Cities. He glanced at the newly built city, confirmed he had the highest authority, and saw that everything else was the same as the city in Qing City. Then, he waved his hand again and activated the Teleportation Gate Tower.

With this new Neutral City, automatically named Ice City, as the center, eight Teleportation Gates appeared instantly, each over 10,000 kilometers away. Of the nine Teleportation Gates in total, one was placed on the walls of Ice City, while Shen Fei placed the other eight in nearby settlements within the range of the Teleportation Gate Tower.

SWISH!

SWISH!

SWISH!

Following Shen Fei’s actions, it wasn’t long before the first player from the northeast entered Ice City. Following the first player’s entry, a large number of human players began to step through the Teleportation Gates, entering the newly established Ice City.

.

"The local Player Management Office will be responsible for the personnel census and managing the city!"

Seeing players quickly fill the entire new city after the first one appeared, Shen Fei immediately found the local director of the Player Management Office and arranged the relevant matters. Then, leaving things to develop and while more people entered Ice City via the Teleportation Gate Tower, Shen Fei’s figure flickered and appeared next to a special area near Ice City.

BOOM!

Without a moment’s hesitation, upon arriving at the perimeter of the third special area, Shen Fei directly launched a relentless Cluster Attack from his Defense Towers. Then came the routine process: eradicating the Neutral City within the special area and killing the Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses inside. Finally, even the special area’s Shield was completely wiped out.

The entire process went off without a hitch. The only thing that made Shen Fei curious was that this third special area he destroyed, located near the relatively cold Ice City, was of the sunny-beach-and-bikinis variety.

BOOM!

With one final Defense Tower Cluster Attack, the Shield above the sunny beach special area that Shen Fei had cleared slowly began to crack.

I’ve reached level 157... I got another 51 Hearts of the City... And I got a huge wave of other stuff, too!

Watching the Shield above dissipate, Shen Fei glanced at the rewards he had just reaped in his inventory. Just as with the previous two special areas, he still hadn’t found the intelligence he was looking for. But as for other things, the haul was anything but small. This outcome did, at least, align with Shen Fei’s secondary objective.

Off we go!

SWISH!

After clearing the third special area, he saw that the entire Forum was in an uproar again because of the new Ice City. Moreover, the moment the Shield shattered, Shen Fei’s communication device started beeping again. But before Shen Fei could take a closer look and deal with it, he saw his personal panel open once again, and lines of text scrolled across it.

[Ding!]

[Beyond-Version Event Triggered!]

[Number of special areas destroyed is greater than three...]

.

Holy shit! Another Beyond-Version Event?

Shen Fei had planned to build at least three Neutral Cities in the northeastern region, intending for most of the players in this area to move into them. He never expected that before he could even execute his plan, something new would suddenly happen. As soon as he had quickly eradicated three special areas, he had once again triggered a Beyond-Version Event.

.

Huh? Version 4.8 didn’t arrive?

Surprised, he waited for a few seconds. To his astonishment, the Version 4.8 he was wary of didn’t appear. This so-called Beyond-Version Event didn’t push a new Version 4.8 update. Perhaps because versions 4.6 and 4.7 were released in a single wave not long ago, another new version couldn’t be rolled out so soon. Or maybe, the abilities or factors for the Version 4.8 update hadn’t fully converged yet.

In any case, only a few lines of text scrolled across his personal panel this time. They let everyone know that special areas had been eradicated and that a Beyond-Version Event had been triggered as a result. However, no new major version update occurred.

No! I have to be faster!

Near Ice City, Shen Fei grew anxious after seeing the text on his personal panel. Although it hadn’t triggered Version 4.8 or pushed another wave of updates for other incomplete versions, the Beyond-Version Event *had* been activated, and a text description had appeared. Something must have been happening behind the scenes.

Moreover, human players were one thing, but Shen Fei knew that the so-called Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses would also see the version text description. His goal was to eradicate the special areas, and looking at the text on his personal panel, he couldn’t be bothered to deal with the exploding Forum or answer his beeping communication device.

The only thing he could do was to speed up—to eradicate the special areas even faster. He was worried that the sudden appearance of the Beyond-Version text description would cause changes in the special areas. After all, he had eradicated the first three special areas quietly and discreetly. Now, the panel’s text had suddenly announced to everyone that special areas were being destroyed. This was different.

More importantly, Shen Fei was worried that the troublesome Version 4.5 would give him another mandatory mission, which would be bad. Previously, Version 4.5 had given him a mandatory mission to destroy 50 Neutral Cities within an hour. He had managed to complete a mission like that in a frantic rush. But what if this troublesome Version 4.5 now gave him a mission to destroy 50 special areas within an hour? That was a mission he would be absolutely unable to complete.

Worried that delays would bring more trouble, Shen Fei knew instantly after seeing the panel text that he had to speed up.
