With the coming of Qi, the world changed.

However, the world did not change all at once. There was no single explosion that shook the planet, no announcement from the heavens declaring that humanity had entered a new age, and no brilliant flash of light that suddenly transformed ordinary people into extraordinary beings. The change began so quietly that most of humanity remained completely unaware of it.

At first, the changes were so subtle that they could easily be dismissed as coincidences. A few athletes performed slightly better than expected. Some patients recovered from injuries a little faster than doctors anticipated. Certain plants grew unusually quickly, while animals in isolated regions began displaying strange increases in strength and vitality. None of these incidents were extraordinary enough to immediately attract global attention.

Then the changes became more frequent.

What had once been isolated incidents began appearing in different parts of the world, separated by thousands of kilometers and seemingly unrelated to one another. Scientists noticed abnormalities in their measurements. Doctors began encountering patients who recovered faster than expected. Athletes began breaking records that had once seemed almost impossible to surpass.

At first, humanity simply adjusted its expectations.

Then the records began falling too quickly.

And eventually, the changes became impossible to ignore.

GLOBAL NEWS NETWORK — 6:42 A.M.

"Another Record Falls as Track Star Posts Unprecedented Time."

The footage showed a young sprinter crossing the finish line at breathtaking speed. His body leaned forward as he pushed himself through the final meters, every muscle in his legs visibly straining beneath his skin. The moment he crossed the line, the stadium erupted into thunderous cheers.

Yet the athlete himself did not celebrate immediately.

Instead, he stood frozen on the track, staring at the scoreboard with a bewildered expression. His chest rose and fell rapidly as he tried to catch his breath, while the numbers displayed above him seemed almost impossible to comprehend.

His previous personal best had already been enough to place him among the fastest runners in his country. He had spent years training to shave fractions of a second from his time, enduring injuries, exhausting practices, strict diets, and countless hours of conditioning for improvements that were often measured in hundredths of a second.

Now, he had suddenly surpassed that record by a margin that should have required years of additional training.

More importantly, his new time was fast enough to break the national record.

The commentators initially assumed there had been an error.

The timing equipment was checked immediately. Officials examined the sensors, reviewed the footage, and repeated their calculations. Some even questioned whether the starting mechanism had malfunctioned and given the athlete an unfair advantage.

But the equipment was functioning perfectly.

There was no mistake.

The record stood.

The incident attracted international attention, but it was still treated as an extraordinary sporting achievement rather than evidence of something fundamentally wrong with the world.

That assumption lasted only a few hours.

SPORTSNET — 9:15 A.M.

"Three National Records Broken in One Day."

By midmorning, another report had appeared.

Then another.

A professional swimmer had shattered a long-standing national record by a margin that stunned his coaches. A weightlifter had successfully lifted an amount of weight that, only weeks earlier, had been considered far beyond his realistic physical limit. Somewhere else, a marathon runner had completed his race nearly four minutes faster than his previous personal best despite following essentially the same training routine he had used for years.

What made the situation particularly strange was that these athletes were not connected.

They came from different countries, trained under different coaches, followed different diets, and competed in completely different sports. There was no shared supplement, training program, piece of equipment, or medical treatment that could explain their sudden improvements.

Yet they had all achieved extraordinary results within the same twenty-four-hour period.

Sports scientists began appearing on television programs to discuss the phenomenon. Some suggested that improvements in training methods had finally reached a point where their effects were becoming visible. Others attributed the results to better nutrition, advanced recovery techniques, psychological conditioning, or improvements in sports equipment.

A few experts suggested that statistical coincidence could explain the unusual concentration of record-breaking performances.

The explanations sounded reasonable.

At least for a while.

Then another record fell.

And another.

And another.

Within days, the number of abnormal performances had grown too large for coincidence to remain a convincing explanation.

The world began paying attention.

Yet the strangest changes were not occurring inside stadiums.

They were happening inside hospitals.

WORLD HEALTH REPORT — 11:03 A.M.

"Hospitals Report Unexpected Reduction in Recovery Times."

Compared with the sporting records, the medical reports initially received very little attention. There were no cheering crowds, no dramatic photographs, and no famous athletes involved. The changes appeared small enough that most people considered them unimportant.

Doctors in several hospitals, however, had begun noticing something unusual.

Patients recovering from routine procedures appeared to be healing slightly faster than expected.

The difference was not dramatic. Nobody was waking up from surgery completely healed, and no doctor was claiming that impossible medical miracles had occurred. Instead, the changes were subtle but measurable.

Wounds that normally required several days to close properly were showing signs of healing earlier than expected. Patients recovering from minor injuries were regaining mobility faster. Bruising disappeared sooner. Small cuts and abrasions seemed to heal at rates that were consistently above established averages.

At first, doctors assumed the differences were simply statistical fluctuations.

Medicine dealt with probabilities, after all. Human bodies did not always follow averages perfectly. Some patients healed faster than others, while some required more time than expected. A handful of unusual recoveries meant very little by themselves.

Then hospitals in other countries began reporting similar observations.

The differences remained small, but they were remarkably consistent.

Researchers began quietly collecting data. Medical institutions started comparing recovery times across different populations, age groups, climates, and treatment methods. Scientists examined blood samples, cellular activity, metabolic rates, and countless other biological indicators in an attempt to determine whether something had changed.

They did not yet know what they were searching for.

They only knew that something was happening.

And whatever it was, it appeared to be happening everywhere.
