Chapter 1914: Chapter 1894:
"Ah!!!" Qhianqhian looked at the seemingly endless herb garden in front of her, feeling utterly overwhelmed!
Why was the legendary small herb garden so vast? He Wenyu, on the other hand, seemed completely unfazed by it. When would they ever finish tending to this piece of land?!
"Oh dear, this old man looks a bit wilted." He Wenyu crouched down nearby and suddenly wore a distressed expression: "I planted all these, how did they end up like this?"
The old man glanced at the large patch of herbs in the garden and rolled his eyes. If they didn’t need care, what would you apprentice here for?
Surely, they don’t expect someone as old as him to take care of the herb garden himself? What’s the point of having apprentices then?
"Shiqi, hurry over here, start watering a bit." He Wenyu promptly called out.
Upon hearing this, Qhianqhian couldn’t afford to be stunned any longer and chose to help directly. After all, watering wasn’t really a problem for her.
But... if she couldn’t draw water from the land, surely she’d be unable to pull from the sky above, especially seeing how large the garden was to cover? Beyond her capabilities, it would surely be.
So she pulled out a bottle, naturally conjuring a water ball and placing it in front of He Wenyu, with furrowed brows: "I can’t cover everything, can I?"
"There is a small river at the bottom of the mountain, but it only yields half a bucket of water at a time, more than that can’t be fetched." He Wenyu sighed as he spoke.
"There’s a small river? Well then, that makes things easier." Qhianqhian sighed with relief. If she had to handle all the watering herself it would be quite troublesome, wouldn’t it?
He Wenyu sighed: "Look at our position on the mountain, how is this easy?"
Qhianqhian looked down the mountain and was shocked to find... she couldn’t even see the bottom.
"But if there’s a small river below, doesn’t that mean there’s a water source on the mountain? Either groundwater or an ice layer?" Qhianqhian said earnestly, attempting to use science to explain the situation before her.
"See for yourself, anyway I haven’t found the source of that small river." He Wenyu said helplessly. She also found fetching water annoying, but to her dismay, there was no solution. After searching upstream she realized the water merely trickled from stones, a few drops here and there, not the water source she imagined.
After speaking, He Wenyu squatted down to start pulling weeds, realizing the herbs made good soil, sometimes bringing in weed seeds as well, so weeds were not surprising.
Qhianqhian, unwilling to give up, sat down on the ground.
She was of the water attribute; wouldn’t she find a water source? Was she being underestimated?
Watching Qhianqhian’s manner, the old man quietly chuckled on the side but said nothing.
Was it this simple here? If it were really this simple, would this place become an herb garden? This was his most prized patch. In here the growth rates of the herbs could double, and at a certain spot, even quintuple!
However, those two couldn’t be allowed to know about that spot just yet.
Qhianqhian searched for quite a while but was startled to find that she hadn’t found any ice layer, nor was there groundwater...
Feeling stifled, she looked at He Wenyu: "I’ll go and check the small river."
"The wooden bucket is by the river, be careful, there are unfriendly small animals on the way." He Wenyu nodded, seemingly understanding Qhianqhian’s current actions all along.
After all, she’d been here too long, certainly more equipped than this newcomer, Qhianqhian.
Qhianqhian quickly arrived at the riverbank, not encountering any unfriendly small animals along the way, though her mood was far from amiable.
Rain upon the dark sky made her unpleasant mood even worse.
The unfriendly small animals backed off due to Qhianqhian’s daunting presence.
Indeed, faced with a terrifying person coming down the mountain, they wouldn’t risk emerging to express their rejection; they just thanked the heavens she wasn’t venting on them.
Gazing at the so-called small river which was just over two feet wide and less than one foot deep—a mere water bay.
Within the bay, the water was crystal clear, with ripples rendering it like perfectly still land, impossible to perceive any water.
The bucket sat beside the river, capable of filling only half its capacity.
Even after filling this bucket with another, it would not balance properly.
Qhianqhian showed no interest in the bucket, quietly observing it with a furrowed brow.
The old man surely hadn’t brought her to serve as labor.
So many others, it wasn’t wise for her to labor, especially given her impatient and willful nature.
Seated on the stone by the water bay, she played quietly with the water, her thoughts circling the purpose behind the old man’s decision.
Mo had appeared on a nearby tree, silently watching Qhianqhian.
Truly living up to the saying: you’re watching the scenery from the bridge, while people upstairs watch you as part of the scenery.
"Uh... I don’t feel like doing the physical labor, there must be a way." Qhianqhian held her chin, seriously pondering, eager in mind to find a shortcut.
Mo, an amused observer, concealed his presence, quietly watching all unfold.
Quickly, Qhianqhian jumped into the water, feeling the coolness flow over her ankles, enjoying it with closed eyes.
Yet, it was the momentary coolness that sparked her idea.
"If, it all turned into mist... No, into water vapor that gathered in the sky forming clouds, then those clouds grew and turned into rain, wouldn’t it be the simplest transfer method?" Qhianqhian clapped her hands.
Even though she could carry more water than a bucket at once, it still only solved part of the garden’s watering needs.
However, if it rained, though not deeply moisturizing, it would undoubtedly reach every corner; after all, how big was this mountain?
Qhianqhian squeezed her fists; why hadn’t she thought of this before? Wouldn’t bringing dry ice for artificial rain be great? Now, how to make the rain appear quicker?
Since... the entire sky was cloudless...
Looking up she met Mo’s gaze, eyes lighting up: "Come on, come on!"
Mo shook his head with black lines: "If I help, it wouldn’t be the result of your thinking here." Seeing Qhianqhian’s crestfallen face, Mo felt pity and said, "Actually, it’s all water; you might do it yourself, right? Though mist and clouds differ, they’re not as different as you’d think."
