Chapter 1338: Chapter 1338: Embarrassment Shared by All

Every attack from Sophie Wilson exploited Kai Bright’s unguarded weaknesses; despite his mission expertise, he found himself somewhat flustered in front of her.

Thankfully, Sophie always held back, allowing Kai to barely cope.

Frederick Cole grew increasingly alarmed; initially, he marveled at their moves, but soon his awe turned into shock.

He was truly worried for Kai’s sake.

Each of Sophie’s strikes could have been lethal for Kai.

Had she not pulled back at the last moment, Kai would have already been dead.

For such a long time, every time Sophie attacked, Kai was "dead" one more time.

Her angles were tricky and unexpected, so there was no way to counter.

Suddenly, Kai made a different move on the screen.

"Stop, stop, stop..." Kai shouted.

Sophie swiftly withdrew, gazing at him with a playful smile.

Kai’s mouth opened wide, gasping heavily, leaving Sophie baffled: "Your stamina can’t be that bad, can it?"

"I’m just freaking nervous!" Kai’s heart finally calmed down after several deep breaths, giving Sophie a helpless glance, "Every time I get close to dying, it’s like the Grim Reaper’s scythe grazing my neck... Who could bear that?"

"Bro, the Grim Reaper is foreign. Even if you were to pass, it wouldn’t matter; you’re supposed to meet King Yan." Sophie calmly corrected Kai.

Kai stumbled, almost falling to the ground: "Sis, is the Grim Reaper even the point here?"

"Isn’t it?" Sophie blinked innocently, making Kai feel exasperated.

How is his adorable sister so terrifying when she gets serious?

Is she human?

Is she still human?

"I think sparring with Charles back then was truly wise." Kai sighed heavily.

If I sparred with Sophie often, it wouldn’t just be physical harm; my spirit would be crushed too, you know?

Such feeling of being relentlessly pressed, always on the brink of death, is truly unpleasant.

Over time, it would drive someone to despair.

"Nobody could handle sparring like this." Kai added.

"Sure they could! Mr. Seymour is fine with this," Sophie replied with a beaming smile.

Back when in the rogue company, they used to spar frequently.

"Sis, at this moment, could we not flaunt your romance, please? Your brother’s having a hard enough time." Kai glared at Sophie, feeling annoyed.

Can he not be given a break?

Taking such blows from all angles, who could endure?

Sophie shrugged, sighing softly to herself, feeling a little exasperated, can’t even talk freely.

"Alright, let’s head back." Kai said instinctively, "Be careful..."

After speaking, he patted his own head.

Here, he felt he needed to be more cautious than Sophie.

When Kai returned, everyone sitting on the floor looked over simultaneously, though their eyes were filled with disappointment.

Veins popped on Kai’s forehead. What’s with these guys?

Can he not lose?

"Has everyone conceded?" Kai asked.

After all, it’s not like he lost alone, what’s the big deal?

If they’re embarrassed, they all share the shame.
