Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 379 - 350: Followed by the Paparazzi
It wasn’t until 11:00 AM that Wu Yun slowly made his way to the car parked on the side of the road.
Seeing Da Xiong’s knowing expression, Wu Yun chided him with a laugh, "What are you looking at? Back to the villa! You’re on your own this afternoon!"
’Women who work out are really something else,’ Wu Yun thought. ’Scarlett’s stamina is even better than Wen Meng’s. She was actually able to keep up with me.’
After lunch, Wu Yun didn’t go anywhere. He holed up in his bedroom for an afternoon nap, then had a video call with the three girls back in Huaxia, where it was morning.
At 5:00 PM, Wu Yun came out of his bedroom and said to Wei Wu and Caviar, who were sitting on the sofa watching TV, "Let’s go. Take me to Melisse."
Melisse was a famous two-star Michelin restaurant in Los Angeles. It wasn’t very large, with only a handful of tables, and it only hosted two seatings of guests each night.
Wu Yun had only learned this after having Wang Hao use his black card privileges to make a reservation. Consequently, by pulling some strings, Wu Yun had bought a couple’s reservation at a premium just to be able to have dinner with Emma tonight.
The three of them parked near the pedestrian street and followed the GPS directions to the restaurant’s entrance, which was just a small, single door.
"You two go find something to eat. I’ll call you when I’m finished."
With that, Wu Yun walked inside. The decor was classic and dreamlike, with a predominantly purple color scheme that created a very atmospheric setting.
"Sir, do you have a reservation?" a young man dressed as a waiter asked, stepping forward.
Wu Yun gave the name of the couple who had originally booked the table.
Although the waiter was surprised that Wu Yun had given a Western name, he led him to the table after confirming the reservation details.
"I’ll wait for my companion to arrive before ordering," Wu Yun said, taking the menu from the approaching waiter.
The waiter smiled in understanding, then moved away from the table to his post by the entrance.
Wu Yun had arrived quite early. Only two tables in the restaurant were occupied; two others were still empty.
As he scanned the room, he noticed that most of the other diners were dressed like tourists.
A moment later, Emma walked over, dressed in a chic black suit and high heels.
Her exquisite makeup, combined with her wind-tousled blonde hair, gave her a unique charm.
The waiter looked at Emma with some surprise, but he quickly composed himself and asked, "Lady Watson, do you have a reservation?"
It was common to run into Hollywood stars in Los Angeles, so the staff was unfazed. The restaurant was strictly reservation-only; even if Omar himself showed up, he’d need to book in advance.
The restaurant wasn’t large, so Emma spotted Wu Yun at his table immediately.
Emma smiled at the waiter. "I’m with that gentleman."
After seating Emma, the waiter discreetly sized up Wu Yun and asked, "Sir, are you ready to order now?"
Wu Yun pushed the menu toward Emma. "Emma, why don’t you order? I’m not familiar with this place."
Emma didn’t hesitate. After asking Wu Yun if he had any dietary restrictions, she opened the menu and ordered, "The sea urchin, prawns, lobster bolognese pasta, wild mushroom risotto, American Style wagyu..."
After ordering several dishes, Emma looked up at Wu Yun. "Oh, by the way, Mr. Wu, did you drive? Shall we get a bottle of red wine?"
Wu Yun nodded nonchalantly. "Red wine it is."
’Having dealt with people from Europe and America more frequently of late, I’m gradually getting used to their ways,’ Wu Yun thought.
After handing the menu to the waiter, Wu Yun looked Emma over and said, "You look stunning today. Did you have an event earlier?"
Emma smiled. "Thank you for the compliment. I dressed up specially because I wanted to look my best for our dinner, Mr. Wu."
Just as Wu Yun and Emma were chatting happily, out on the bustling pedestrian street, a man with a camera around his neck took a hamburger from his friend. He unwrapped it and was about to take a bite when he suddenly froze.
"John! What’s wrong?" his friend asked, patting him on the shoulder. "Hurry up and eat! We need to head to the arena, or it’ll be packed by the time the game starts."
When John remained motionless, his friend followed his gaze.
"Fuck! That’s Emma Watson!" the man exclaimed, staring in astonishment at the man and woman seated opposite each other by the large window.
The woman was a Hollywood star they both recognized, but the man was a young Asian.
"Jason! Do you recognize that guy?" John asked. He stuffed his hamburger into his pocket, raised the camera hanging from his neck, adjusted the focus, and immediately snapped several pictures.
Jason’s expression turned thoughtful. After a long moment, he answered seriously, "Never seen him before."
John shrugged. "Oh well. Getting these shots on my day off is a nice bonus, I guess."
John and Jason were both reporters for the same media company, but they covered different beats.
John was an entertainment reporter who also moonlighted as a paparazzo, whereas Jason specialized in sports.
Today, Jason had used the perks of his job to invite his friend and colleague John to watch the Lakers game at the Staples Center.
Carrying a camera was second nature for a reporter, especially an entertainment reporter like John.
"Tsk, tsk. I wonder how many rumored boyfriends this makes for Emma," John said as he walked back, having found a few more angles for the perfect shot.
"No way," Jason said with a disdainful look. "Why would Emma fall for an Asian guy?"
