He then added, "If any of you play Honor of Kings, keep an eye out for news about it. Information on the tournament will be released soon! Everyone is welcome to participate. It’s getting late, so you should all get some rest."

With that, Wu Yun ignored the frantic stream of comments and ended the broadcast.

After logging off, Wu Yun first added Principal Wang on WeChat, and his request was quickly accepted.

Wu Yun immediately sent over his phone number.

Principal Wang, who clearly knew the drill, called him right away.

The voice that came through the phone wasn’t much different from the one on the stream. "President Wu! It’s a pleasure to meet you! Are you free anytime soon? It’ll be my treat! I’ll get a few friends together for a gathering!"

Wu Yun didn’t refuse, simply saying, "Oh! I’m free, but I’m in Modu right now."

"What a coincidence! I happen to be in Modu on business. How does next Monday or Tuesday look for you?" Principal Wang asked.

Wu Yun checked his schedule. Because of the Pinduoduo financing deal, he figured he’d be in Modu all next week. "Let’s do Tuesday, then," he said.

"Perfect! I’ll book a place and send you the location."

...

Sunday was Mother’s Day. Wu Yun found a quiet spot and called his mom first.

Yu Min was overjoyed to receive Wu Yun’s call. On previous Mother’s Days, she had always been alone, nursing her silent grief. She couldn’t count how many times she had enviously watched other families out enjoying the day together.

Although she still felt a pang of regret for not being able to enjoy a family reunion with Qian Shujun, Yu Min was content with her life now.

Over the phone, Wu Yun could hear his mother’s voice choke with emotion. "Thank you, son."

"I heard you went to see your grandpa? Next time you run into a minor issue like that, tell me first. If I can’t solve it, it won’t be too late to ask your grandfathers then."

The two of them chatted for a while longer before hanging up.

Afterward, Wu Yun called his three mothers-in-law, leaving all of them grinning from ear to ear and overjoyed.

Just as Wu Yun finished his calls with his three mothers-in-law, he got a call from Wang Jiale.

Seeing Wang Jiale’s name, Wu Yun felt a headache coming on. ’This girl is really clingy,’ he thought, ’she’s always sending me messages.’

He hadn’t replied to her messages while he was on his other calls, so now she was calling him directly.

"Brother! Come over for lunch! It’s Mother’s Day, so I’m going to cook for you and Mom myself!"

Wu Yun thought for a moment and agreed. ’I need to make things clear to Wang Jiale,’ he decided. ’I don’t have time to be chatting with her all day.’

Having made his decision, Wu Yun simply told Qi Fei he had to step out for something and that she shouldn’t wait for him for lunch, then he left.

Wu Yun rode a Little Red Car straight to Binjiang Triumphal Arch.

He was stopped by security at the gate. Wu Yun was about to call Zhou Shuwen and ask her to speak with the guard, but just as he started dialing, he saw Wang Jiale skipping toward him.

Wang Jiale happily linked her arm through Wu Yun’s, resting her head on his shoulder. "Brother! I didn’t think you’d get here so fast!"

Wu Yun joked, "Well, I’m starving! I wanted to get to the feast you’re cooking as soon as possible! What are you making for lunch today?"

Wang Jiale pulled him along by the hand. "Have you ever had West Lake Vinegar Fish and Dongpo Pork from our very own Hang City!?"

Wu Yun shook his head, and Wang Jiale instantly brightened. "Then you’re in for a treat! Those two are my signature dishes!"

"Great!"

...

The moment he pushed open the door, Wu Yun heard the rhythmic sound of chopping coming from the kitchen.

"Didn’t you say you were cooking yourself? Why is there still noise coming from the kitchen?" Wu Yun asked with a chuckle.

Wang Jiale looked embarrassed. "Well, my knife skills are a little lacking! So I asked my mom to help me out a bit!"

Wu Yun didn’t call out Wang Jiale’s bluff. Instead, he changed his shoes and headed toward the kitchen.

He saw Zhou Shuwen’s exquisite curves outlined by a tight, light-colored dress. Over it, she wore an apron tied at her waist, accentuating her perky rear. She looked incredibly sexy, with the added allure of a woman in the kitchen.

"Like what you see?" Wang Jiale asked with a grin.

"Of course! And you’re beautiful too," Wu Yun said, giving them equal praise.

Wang Jiale pushed Wu Yun out of the kitchen. "Brother, go wait in the living room! I’m about to work my magic!"

With that, Wang Jiale pushed Wu Yun out and shut the kitchen door.

Wu Yun chuckled, shaking his head as he sat down on the sofa.

Before he could even finish his third match, Wang Jiale came out, cheerfully carrying a plate.

"Brother! Lunch is ready!"

Wu Yun saw he wouldn’t be able to finish the match anytime soon, so he did something that would surely have his four teammates cursing his name—he quit the game.

"Coming!"

Looking at the several appetizing dishes, Wu Yun took a deep breath and said with a smile, "Nice, it smells delicious!"

Just then, Zhou Shuwen came out, having finished cleaning the kitchen. She was about to take off her apron when Wu Yun stopped her. "Sister Shuwen, don’t take it off! I think you look great like this! It’s really whetting my appetite."

Zhou Shuwen instantly understood his double meaning. She rolled her eyes at him before saying, "You and your little games."

Wu Yun chuckled. "That’s mainly because you’re so versatile, Sister Shuwen!"

The three of them ate and chatted, and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Halfway through the meal, Wu Yun finally said, "Jiale, I need to talk to you about something."

Wang Jiale immediately paused, her chopsticks hovering over a dish, and looked at Wu Yun expectantly.

Wu Yun chose his words carefully. "It’s just... I’m usually very busy, and sometimes I don’t have time to reply to your messages, so I need you to understand. You can’t be messaging me constantly; it’s starting to affect my work."

Wang Jiale only took Wu Yun’s words at face value, but Zhou Shuwen understood the subtext in an instant.

Zhou Shuwen turned to look at Jiale. She was about to put on a stern face and lecture her daughter, but then she remembered what had happened the day before. The serious expression on her face was instantly replaced with a smile. "Jiale, you shouldn’t disturb your brother while he’s working. For someone like him, every second is precious."

Seeing the unhappy look on Jiale’s face, Zhou Shuwen stepped in to explain for her. "Wu Yun! Jiale actually doesn’t have time for her phone during classes, so it’s only natural for her to be more talkative when she finally gets to have some fun on the weekend!"

Taking the hint from Zhou Shuwen’s eyes, Wu Yun immediately said, "Jiale, you focus on your studies, and I’ll focus on my work. We’ll both do our best. We can get in touch when we’re free. Of course, if you see that I haven’t replied to a message, it just means I’m busy. I’ll definitely get back to you as soon as I have a free moment."

But Wang Jiale wasn’t some clueless little girl. She remembered that Wu Yun had an officially announced girlfriend, and her happy mood soured. She knew what happened yesterday was just a spur-of-the-moment thing, but it was still a first for her, and deep down, she had already begun to see herself as one of Wu Yun’s women.

"I get it! Don’t worry, I won’t bother you at work, and I won’t bother you when you’re with your girlfriend!"

After saying this, Wang Jiale barely took a few more bites before putting down her chopsticks. "I’m full! I’m going to my room to pack."

"Jiale! Oh, honestly..." Zhou Shuwen sighed. "Wu Yun, don’t mind her. She just likes to throw these little fits. Let’s finish eating. I’ll go comfort her after."

The two of them fell silent, and for a moment, the only sounds were of them eating and the clinking of cutlery.

"I’m full too," Zhou Shuwen said, also putting down her chopsticks. "You take your time. Don’t worry about the dishes, I’ll get them later. I’m going to go check on Jiale."

With that, Zhou Shuwen left the table and headed for Wang Jiale’s room.

A moment later, Wu Yun thought he could faintly hear loud, argumentative voices, but the sound vanished as quickly as it came, almost as if he had imagined it.

Wu Yun had just finished eating when he saw Zhou Shuwen standing at the door to Jiale’s room, hands on her hips. She beckoned to him. "Are you finished? Come here when you’re done. We need to talk."
