Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1437: Wedding
"There’s nothing needed, no ceremony."
Li Manjiang nodded.
Wang Menglin stood up, "The meal is ready, let’s go eat."
Li Manjiang didn’t eat at all; he just fed the two sons.
No one else competed with him. Just let him be.
In the afternoon, Yang Zhongyi came to pick up Tao YanZhen, and Tao Chunhe along with their three men went out as well, leaving just their family of four and the nanny at home.
"You go take a shower, later let the two of them accompany you for a nap."
Li Manjiang hugged Wang Menglin tightly and then let go immediately.
He went into the bathroom, meticulously washed himself, and cleaned the clothes he had taken off.
Returning to the bedroom, he saw the two children obediently lying on the bed, staring at him with their eyes open.
Li Manjiang smiled and got into bed, lying between them, hugging one on each side.
Wang Menglin smiled and went out. Let the father and sons enjoy their time together.
She had known since she was a child that both her grandpa and uncle were like that. Although she occasionally felt lonely and helpless, she still understood.
She knitted sweaters in the living room, having completed two already. Now she’s working on one for her uncle, although it’s not as snowy as in the Northeast, it’s quite cold here, and given his age, he ought to dress warmly.
Li Manjiang put the two kids to sleep and went downstairs to find his wife, only to see something that he would think of even at death’s door.
His beautiful wife quietly sat on the sofa knitting, in a moment of perfect peace.
Wang Menglin heard the movement. "They’re asleep?"
"Yeah." Li Manjiang sat beside Wang Menglin, gazing at her foolishly.
"You should rest for a while too."
"Menglin, I don’t want to rest, I just want to be with you, even if it’s just watching you." He had hovered between life and death several times in the past two years, and she was always in his heart.
Seeing Li Manjiang like this, Wang Menglin put down her knitting.
"We’re all fine. Don’t worry. Mom and Dad are helping with the kids, and Mom can’t bear to let me go to work."
Li Manjiang held his wife’s hand, "You’ve worked hard."
Wang Menglin shook her head, "It’s not hard, I understand you."
The couple sat on the sofa like this, holding hands, as Li Manjiang listened to his wife talk about the family situation.
"In a few days, we’ll go to the Capital with Xiao Zhen. The things there are settled, and if everything goes smoothly on the road, we can go home."
"Hmm, I have a half-year vacation."
Seeing the redness in Li Manjiang’s eyes, Wang Menglin also felt distressed, "You should go back and lie down with the kids."
Li Manjiang drew closer to his wife, "Will you stay with me? I really miss you."
But it was broad daylight. Wang Menglin felt embarrassed.
However, she still cared for her husband, so they went upstairs.
The two had only been together during the ten or so days they were married, how could they not miss each other? So Li Manjiang’s demeanor made Wang Menglin unable to resist.
Finally, satisfying him once, letting him lie with the kids. Watching the sleeping trio, she saw many similarities; she used to think the two kids resembled her, but in fact, they shared many traits with their father too.
Wang Menglin didn’t understand the change in her mindset now. She was no longer indifferent to men as she had been.
Li Manjiang awoke once again in the middle of the night, sleeping so soundly because he was back beside his wife and kids.
He smiled as he looked at his wife lying beside him.
Wang Menglin was awakened by his kisses. Caught up in the passion, she had no energy to think of anything else.
The next day, Li Manjiang and the Tao Family men were exercising outside. Mr. Tao was very happy, with his grandson, granddaughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter’s husband all nearby.
The house was still quite busy today; tomorrow was the marriage day, and although there was no ceremony, there would still be a meal.
So the women were preparing the food.
On the day of the wedding, Tao Chun rode a bike to pick up Liu Tongtong, and the Liu Family would ride their bikes over themselves.
They initially intended to drive over, as both father and son at the Tao Family had cars, but due to recent events, they opted to cycle.
It was discovered that Song Ping had handed in the report letter. Plans were in place to have a conversation with the Liu Family about this.
The Liu Family didn’t prepare anything special, not even firecrackers or celebratory words.
Tao Chunhe and Liu Tongtong didn’t care at all.
The Liu Family was all at home today. Tao Chunhe did not display any negative emotions, even the name change was particularly smooth, just addressing Song Ping as "Auntie."
Song Ping’s mind was particularly unstable today, but seeing Tao Chunhe’s unchanged demeanor, she felt a bit more at ease.
"Tongtong, I’m very sorry, it can only be like this."
Liu Tongtong smiled warmly, "I understand, those things are just for show. We should follow the country’s call."
Liu Shanshan pursed her lips on the side, truly looking down on Liu Tongtong.
Liu Mingming wasn’t entirely pleased either; after all, during her wedding, she had everything. But her sister was being taken away quietly like this; she felt this marriage was stifling.
The two families were not close, with three bikes at home, Mr. Liu on one, the Liu Changshan couple each on one, giving rides to two kids.
On the way, Song Ping was anxious, but upon arriving at the Tao Family, no one behaved differently.
She reassured herself that nothing had happened. The Tao Family was very polite.
Liu Shanshan was extremely jealous of Liu Tongtong marrying into such a good family. But after seeing Yang Zhongyi, all her thoughts shifted to him, and she no longer felt like envying Liu Tongtong.
Both families were aware of her behavior.
Yang Zhongyi had been pampered since childhood. Suddenly being stared at by a woman so blatantly, he felt repulsed instantly.
His temper flared. But he kept in mind that it was his future brother-in-law’s wedding day, so despite being upset, he restrained himself from making a scene.
Some people have no sense, and Liu Shanshan was one of them. She knew he was Tao YanZhen’s fiancé, but he looked so handsome, so tall she didn’t care if he was attached.
Plus, she’d heard during the introduction that he was from a prestigious family in the Capital.
Both families watched as she hovered around Yang Zhongyi, Song Ping’s face turned pale.
Yang Zhongyi couldn’t take it anymore, "Please keep your dignity." Then he got up and sat directly beside Mr. Liu, proving he wasn’t someone without temper.
It was awkward now, Mr. Liu’s face turned pale from anger. However, due to the occasion, he couldn’t act out and instead shot a fierce look at Liu Shanshan.
Mrs. Tao sat to the side with a practiced smile, as if unaware of what was happening.
Lunch consisted of two tables, one for the men and one for the women.
