Yang Run Tai, on the other hand, was extremely grateful to have Wei Kaiyun in his life, because of him, he got to meet this charming little girl.

"Brother Yang, you lost."

Yang Run Tai smiled and placed down the chess piece, "Feifei, you’re getting better and better."

"Thanks for letting me win." Feifei said with a smile.

"Brother Yang, why don’t you go rest in the living room for a while, I’ll go help out."

Yang Run Tai didn’t follow this time. It wasn’t wise to chase too closely.

Today’s lunch had a mix of meat and vegetables, with eighty-year-old Shang Zhenkun now eating vegetarian. So Jiang Xinyu would always prepare two vegetarian dishes for him every day.

After lunch, everyone sat in the living room drinking tea.

"Brother Yang, shall we play a game?"

Yang Run Tai nodded, "Sure. Shi Jing, what kind of chess do you want to play?"

"Go, perhaps."

"Alright, shall we play in the study or here?"

"Here, I think. My mom and dad are going to rest, so it’ll be quite peaceful here."

The three boys ran off once they heard about the chess game. Tingting returned to her room; before the break, Teacher Zheng had given her a music score, which she’s been memorizing every day.

Shi Jing fetched his chess board, which certainly wasn’t as good as Feifei’s, but was still a rare gem.

Shi Jing’s chess skills were, of course, no match for Yang Run Tai’s, yet he still managed to hold on for quite a while.

"Brother Yang, how is it that your skills could lose to Feifei?"

"Feifei and I are about the same level. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose."

When Feifei woke up from her nap, Yang Run Tai and Shi Jing played another game, this time Shi Jing focused intensely and felt his sister was indeed superior.

Yang Run Tai still ate dinner here. He even made plans with Feifei to go book shopping tomorrow.

"Brother Yang, that store belongs to you, right?"

"Yes, but I haven’t been there for a year or so. I wonder if they’ve collected any good stuff lately."

Once Yang Run Tai left, Wei Kaiyun finally relaxed.

"You’re being too paranoid!" Jiang Xinyu teased him.

"Where have I been paranoid?"

"You should trust your daughter."

"I know, but I still worry."

"Honestly, I feel Feifei hasn’t even thought in that direction. You’re overdoing it and might actually cause her to become doubtful and start questioning."

Wei Kaiyun understood this reasoning well, yet he couldn’t help but worry.

Tomorrow, he would be on vacation too, so he’d help his wife with the preparations at home.

"Don’t forget to pick up Red Army and the others from the station."

"No need for me, Chaoyang will go."

Wei Kaiyun accompanied his wife spending time in the kitchen; the supplies here in the Capital were far better than those in Li Family Village.

Han Xiangjun had delivered new year supplies several days ago, and they planned to celebrate the New Year’s days here.

Wei Kaiyun naturally had no objections. He now understood Han Xiangjun’s circumstances. He just couldn’t fathom why someone with so many women around couldn’t settle down.

He thought maybe Han Xiangjun still had lingering feelings for Jianbin’s mother, but when he asked, Han Xiangjun spat out his tea.

"No way? I passed that phase a long time ago.

Such a foolish woman, apart from her looks, she’s nothing. Luckily Jianbin doesn’t take after her."

"Then why can’t you settle down?"

Han Xiangjun shook his head with a smile, "Xiao Wei, you’re so content now that you want everyone to be like you?"

Wei Kaiyun glared at him, like being bitten by a dog or betrayed by a friend.

"Honestly, I just don’t want to be tied down anymore, I want to live freely."

"Hey, no one’s tying you down."

Han Xiangjun shook his head with a smile, "It’s different. Once you have a family, you’re responsible for it and for the woman, it’s a tiring role I don’t wish to take on."

Wei Kaiyun knew he couldn’t convince him, so whatever Han Xiangjun wanted to do, so be it.

Meanwhile, in the living room, Yang Run Tai and Shi Jing had switched to playing Chinese Chess. Shi Jing was much better at Chinese Chess than Go.

Though this only meant he lasted longer.

"Very impressive." Yang Run Tai genuinely believed.

Shi Jing nodded with a smile, "I know, I never get stuck in my ways, I understand my capabilities.

Honestly, whenever I watch Feifei play chess with you, I can’t follow the thought process."

Yang Run Tai truly admired Shi Jing, the young man had a great attitude, taught very well — if he really pursued politics, success was inevitable.

"Shi Jing, you’re doing great. Keep it up. By the way, do you plan to go into politics in the future?"

Shi Jing nodded, "I have thought about it. I used to dream of becoming an architect, but I realized I’m not really a scholarly person. So I gave it up.

Actually, I’m not very fond of politics either, but I think with my abilities, I can afford capital for speaking. So my family can live happily and easier."

Yang Run Tai nodded, "That’s good. Family indeed needs someone to protect them."

Yang Run Tai was quite satisfied with the young man’s ideas and definitely would assist him. He would pave the way ahead for smoother progress.

"Shi Jing, rest assured, you can always come to me if you need anything, whatever happens, you have me."

Shi Jing smiled, "I have no such thoughts; I plan to earn my success through my own efforts."

"Good, you’ve got ambition."

Shi Jing smiled, not because he had a high ambition, but because he truly didn’t want to owe favors.

The two chatted as they started another game. Shi Jing still lost, but this time he hung in there longer.

Yang Run Tai saw Shi Jing’s potential, so during the third game, he intentionally guided him.

That night, he stayed for dinner and took Shi Xian and a few others to watch a movie afterward.

Tingting was very hesitant, she feared Yang Run Tai but really wanted to watch the movie. In the end, she joined them.

Yang Run Tai sat beside Feifei, watching the little girl focus on the film intently. She looked beautiful no matter how he saw her.

Feifei sensed Yang Run Tai’s gaze. She turned around with a puzzled look at him.

Yang Run Tai smiled and signaled for her to continue watching.

On the morning of the 30th, Han Xiangjun and his son came over.

The house was bustling today. "My little princess, can you play us a tune?"

"Uncle Han, what would you like to hear?"

"Anything my little princess plays, I’ll love."

"Haha, then I’ll play ’Cotton Fields.’"

"Sure, I’ll listen to your ’Cotton Fields’ too."

Feifei played ’Ode to Joy’, and after she finished, Han Xiangjun stood up and applauded.

Wei Kaiyun felt proud, how wonderful his daughter was, how could she be so good?

"Uncle Han, how was it?"

"Amazing, my little princess is a prodigy."

By ten in the morning, Chaoyang arrived.

"Aunt Jiang, the vehicle that went to T City to deliver the new year goods has returned. It also brought back some gifts."

Jiang Xinyu felt helpless; she hired the vehicle to deliver the new year goods to them, why would they send back gifts?

"Aunt Jiang, there are also several letters here."

"Hmm, thank you, Chaoyang." Given today was a special day, she didn’t invite him to stay for a meal.
