Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1549: Making It Clear
"Jiang Feifei, what do you think about your dad toward Aunt Wei and you guys?"
"I’m his daughter, of course I think my dad is the best. But I would absolutely never go for someone like that." The subtext was telling Yang Run Tai to give up.
"Feifei, don’t be so quick to shut it down. You’re going to get more and more mature, and your thoughts will change.
And I’ll always be right behind you. As long as you turn around, you’ll see me."
Jiang Feifei got goosebumps all over. "Yang Run Tai, you really aren’t cut out for saying such cheesy stuff. I can’t handle it. Honestly, we’re best suited to just be friends."
"Feifei, if you don’t give it a try, how do you know we’re not suited?"
They were talking as they reached the door. Yang Run Tai really followed her in.
Jiang Xinyu was cooking in the kitchen. Feifei went to her room to change and then came to help.
She saw Yang Run Tai already buttering up her mom.
Yang Run Tai saw Feifei come in. "Aunt Wei, I like Feifei, but she just rejected me. She said I’m not good enough for her."
Jiang Xinyu was chopping vegetables, and when she heard Yang Run Tai, she almost cut her hand.
She turned and glared at him. "Don’t say such terrifying things at a time like this."
Yang Run Tai laughed. This mother and daughter really were something else.
"Aunt Wei, I’m serious. We all know each other inside out, and we’ve known one another for so many years. I also really, really like Feifei. Isn’t that great?
Feifei is so pretty. And sure, Uncle Wei is capable, and Feifei herself is very capable too—add me in and wouldn’t that be even better?"
Jiang Xinyu was speechless. "He Run, if Feifei agrees, I won’t have any objections. Also, telling me this is useless, you need to talk to your Uncle Wei."
Yang Run Tai nodded with a smile, thinking to himself that since he’d already opened this door today, then today was the day to see it through.
Dinner was corn grits porridge, stir?fried greens, one boiled egg per person, and of course freshly steamed meat buns. The three boys definitely couldn’t get full on just porridge.
After Shi Jing and Jianbin got home, Feifei and Tingting were in charge of bringing out the dishes, and the whole family sat down to eat.
Wei Kaiyun came back just as they’d started eating. He hurried to wash his hands and sat down to eat.
He’d now gotten into the habit that no matter how late it was, he had to come home for dinner; even if it was just to eat leftovers, that was fine.
Yang Run Tai looked around; it was rare to catch Wei Kaiyun at this hour, and the whole family was here.
"Uncle Wei, I like Feifei and I want to pursue her."
Jiang Feifei was drinking her porridge. When she heard Yang Run Tai, she glanced at him, thinking, you’re really asking for it.
Feifei actually knew that the best candidate objectively was Yang Run Tai, but she truly didn’t feel that kind of romantic liking for him.
Wei Kaiyun was picking up a bun. When he heard Yang Run Tai, the bun dropped. He looked at Yang Run Tai as if he were his mortal enemy.
Shi Jing had the exact same reaction. He’d vaguely sensed something before, so whenever Yang Run Tai showed up, he absolutely never gave the two of them a chance to be alone together.
He hadn’t expected this guy to actually say something like that in this setting.
Jianbin was stunned. Dad had once said he wanted Feifei to become his daughter?in?law. He’d lived with Feifei for more than ten years, and no one could know her better.
Maybe because they were too familiar, he instead didn’t have that fluttery, liking feeling.
But now when he heard Yang Run Tai say he wanted to pursue Feifei, his heart felt sour.
The two younger ones looked at Yang Run Tai. Shi Xian snarked, "Brother Yang, you say that kind of thing at my family’s dinner table—do you think that means you won’t get beaten up, or you won’t get beaten up?"
Tingting put down her chopsticks. "Brother Yang, how are you worthy of my sister?"
Yang Run Tai felt like he’d taken ten thousand damage.
He put down his chopsticks, sitting very upright.
"Uncle Wei, Aunt Wei, Master Shang. I really do like Feifei. She’s still young right now, hasn’t awakened to it yet. I can wait for her.
If it’s not Feifei in this lifetime, then there won’t be anyone else."
Wei Kaiyun frowned and put down his chopsticks. "He Run, I don’t agree. I want Feifei to be happy all her life. If she’s with you, she’ll have to worry and work her heart out. I don’t want that life for my daughter."
Yang Run Tai had long known that Wei Kaiyun would definitely refuse, but he hadn’t expected father and son to have exactly the same reason.
"Uncle Wei, let’s talk later."
Shi Xian finished eating. "Brother Yang, I think Tingting is right, you’re not worthy of my sis, so stop dreaming about swan meat, okay? Then we can still be good bros." After he finished, he even nodded to make it sound more credible.
Yang Run Tai just fixed his gaze stubbornly on Wei Kaiyun.
Jiang Xinyu and Jiang Feifei, mother and daughter, kept eating on their own. Their attitude about this whole thing was that they didn’t need to worry about it at all.
Wei Kaiyun looked at Yang Run Tai, who was staring at him so persistently, and in the end he still nodded.
From an outsider’s perspective, Yang Run Tai really was an extremely outstanding young man, but when it came to his own daughter, then he was definitely not good enough for her.
Shang Zhenkun was still slowly sipping his porridge. He’d long seen that this kid liked Feifei. He himself had no objections. This kid was probably the most likely candidate to be Feifei’s future man.
Not to brag, but up to now, aside from Yang Run Tai barely being able to measure up to Feifei, he really hadn’t found a second one.
Jianbin was no good. To speak from the heart, that child truly wasn’t worthy of Feifei. And Jianbin didn’t have that kind of intention either; he must see Feifei as his own sister.
Wei Kaiyun put down his chopsticks; he no longer had any appetite. His precious girl was being coveted—how could he be in a good mood?
If it weren’t for the fact that he really did quite like Yang Run Tai, Wei Kaiyun would probably have already kicked him out.
Actually, Yang Run Tai was feeling relieved inside. He’d imagined the worst outcome as being thrown out and banned from ever coming again.
He hadn’t expected to still get a chance to talk, to have a chance to persuade Wei Kaiyun.
Wei Kaiyun gave his wife a resentful look. Good grief. She really hadn’t taken it to heart at all. How could she be like this? Their precious girl was being targeted, and she wasn’t the least bit anxious?
Jiang Xinyu didn’t even look at Wei Kaiyun. After she finished eating, she helped Shang Zhenkun eat a piece of apple, then started clearing the table.
At this point, the ones doing the chores were all the boys. In this family, the girls were a bit more precious than the boys.
Yang Run Tai was also helping on the side, but he was turned down by Shi Jing. Shi Jing had vaguely known before and had reminded Feifei, but his sister hadn’t cared, so he’d let it go. He hadn’t expected Yang Run Tai to lay it all out today, so when it came to Yang Run Tai, Shi Jing’s feelings were very complicated.
Wei Kaiyun sat off to the side, frowning and thinking.
Yang Run Tai absolutely wouldn’t disturb him right now; even if he had to wait the whole night, he would never go over to prod him.
